The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Not played in a day or so due to work stuff, but the last thing I found/completed was the Akkala labyrinth. Great little distraction. Would have been even better with a puzzle or two.

Am I correct in saying there are another one or two labyrinths?

I got two stamina upgrades early on (probably at around 5 hearts actually) and I very rarely now have issues gliding to/climbing anything.  It makes a big difference to my enjoyment of traversing the world.  Since then I've been loading up on hearts because I know there's a certain minimum level required later on.

I traded my 3rd stamina upgrade for a heart to make 13. I've since earned another, but I don't think I had any real problems getting anywhere with just 2 stamina upgrades.

@Jonny5, I'm sorry about not answering your shield question, the simple truth is that I can't find them again to tell you where they are! What I can remember is that they were on the way to the tower that led me to Zora's Domain, which was so many years ago now that I can't recall which one it was. I'll keep searching, and when it clicks I'll even mark the map, but yesterday lunchtime and last night just ended up giving me another pile of sidequests. And I finally found the fishing village, which in turn has given me some more crap that I can't work out!

With only two upgrades!?!

Madness!

I've maxed out now and still can't climb everything. Then again i do like to rush climb :)

Have you figured out that if the slope is not quite vertical then as long as you keep holding up on the stick you can tap the B button and Link will stop climbing and start running for a few seconds before grabbing hold again.  During these few seconds his stamina gauge refils,

Put the first 40 spirit orbs into stamina to max it then worry about health later.

That's great if you can parry or dodge every attack 100% of the time.  For normal people that would just mean that literally everything in the world could 1 shot you and prove to be massively frustrating.

No worries, the near the tower at the entrance to Zora's domain is enough to get me searching.  I have a Korok around there I need to find as well.

Yeah sure, but who wants to be doing that all the time! :P plus you don't always find non vertical surfaces.

In a race i know who'd get to the top first... ;)

Oh sure, once I have that item I'll be putting everything else into stamina.  But being insta-killed whenever you got to the top of some impressive climb because you only had 3 hearts would suck.

is there a 'smart' way to do the Trial of Thunder without clambering up slippery columns?? it feels like I should have been able to use the sword and lightning to knock down that green ball but it didn't work.

Fire an arrow at it?

I keep popping into this thread every once in a while in the hope that you've all done the typical rllmuk thing of suddenly turning on a once-darling game, as it would help convince me i don't need the switch I'm fully intending to buy, but instead you're all still loving it and making everything worse.

God damn you, rllmuk.

I read a Polygon article about good ways to build yourself up at the beginning of the game and they called Zora's Domain out as being somewhere to go and collect arrows.  They also called out cooking & selling meat as a way to grind out cash as you could get 150 rupees for each cooked meal.

How did you guys play this in the early stages?  I'm very early on but seem to have no quest that's do-able, either because I'm currently way underpowered or don't have he right equipment to get to certain places.

i know I'm in the minority but the lack of any handholding whatsoever is causing me issues.

But is it even possible to survive anything but the introduction with only three hearts?

Yeah, you can complete the whole game like it. See that Lynel vid doing the rounds - three hearts and not a single one knocked off as he slays the beast with tree branches (and an admittedly good bow).

With good timing, nothing will ever hit you.

I don't have good timing

:(

There is always a quest that's do-able. Where are you up to - you off the plateau? Spoken to Impa?
