Why do they need to be unlocked anyway? I've paid three so far, but I still only use the first one to upgrade my stuff. Does finding them unlock extra upgrade levels or something?

I think the more you unlock the higher you can power up your gear.

It really bothers me that I just cannot get the doge flurry to activate.  I either just do a normal jump as I've gone too early or I get battered as I go too late, curse my old man reflexes.

Also having now seen the ancient armor set I have buyers remorse over purchasing an empty house. :(

Price isn't so much of a factor for the ancient armour here - I've got 20,000 rupees in my little pouch, but it's parts I'm missing. I can get one piece now, though, which I guess will help me get more.

Remember how it was going to be a watershed moment, climbing the last tower and opening the whole map with my daughter? When I got in from work she'd already activated it and gone off to do something else. Even so, I called her down just before lights out so she could acquire a certain special item ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. She also completed a huge shield surfing run - the game wouldn't really need an awful lot adding to bring it up to 1080 standard.

What next? I've no idea, but we'll work it out.

Does the Photo mode come in later on - I'm on Wii U and have barely started the game. I've just been messing around...

(I'm also busy)

Yes. You get a camera rune for the slate. You can take photos of things which add them to your compendium, Panini style.

Much later on...

Spoiler

you can then select one of these items to track them on your radar bleeper/tracker. Like ores, or particular animals you might need to farm.

The more fairies you unlock, the higher you can upgrade your gear. You can upgrade to the same level at any of them, but if you have only found 2 fairies you'll only ever be able to upgrade armour to Level 2 etc.

Can you point the Shiekah Sensor to one of the memory photos? I was sure I was told I could but when I tried it just gave me the option to select photos from the compendium.

That would be cheating ;) Your best bet is to talk to the painter at each of the stables

I don't mind finding them myself, but I was sure a tutorial when I upgraded my slate said I could do it.

Can someone give me a hint finding the last memory I need? I know Pikango should give me a clue, but I spent ages warping to different stables yesterday and I couldn't find him. I can find him in Kakariko, but if I talk to him there he doesn't offer any help. It's driving me nuts.

Spoiler

It's the last one in the list, where the picture is just a bunch of trees. This could be a forest anywhere. I've been scrutinising the image very closely for some clue, but I can't see anything in the frame which gives it away. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to identify the location from the picture alone. I thought it could be somewhere on the Plateau, as that would make sense with it being where Link ended his journey a century ago, but I had a good look around there and didn't find a sparkly spot.

No, it's specific items, creatures or shrines you can search for, not vaguely-specified locations! But I see your logic - if you have a photo of it, why can't you track it?

Yes, I thought photos were geotagged, essentially. Which would apply to even random photos you yourself took.

Finally got my screenshots transferred over from the Switch! :D They're quite compressed JPEGs but, well, there's nothing I can do about that. Won't stop me using them as wallpapers!

These all include a moderate event spoiler:

Re. the Divine Beasts...

It's great that the player seamlessly goes from the normal environment to the Divine Beasts (dungeons). Looking down from these moving dungeons, you can see the world below you in full motion. Really places them in the world, and technically impressive.

Especially the

lizard beast, if you change his angle when you're up top! I've only done that and the elephant so far.

To be fair, I tried jumping off the bird once to glide toward the Rito village, and the game wouldn't let me; it counted it as a fall. One of the very few instances where the game didn't let me do what I wanted.

Had that happen to me twice, when trying to parachute into a couple of special areas, such as

into Great Hyrule Forest from the spurs around Death Mountain, for example.

Is there a use for the ancient parts (shaft, screw etc) once you've upgraded your bomb, slate and stasis at the lab? I've got loads so feel like there must be... but if not i'll just sell them.

Keep hold of them for now, they'll come in handy later.

Almost at the 20 hour mark - only done 1 divine beast so far.

Went to search for the next location and found Death Mountain.  Climbed the tower to unveil the map then started to glide down towards the location and died as I fried in midair.  Didn't know I couldn't survive without special armour.  Absolutely no idea where that is, but fuck it - decided to go the opposite way and find some shrines.  5 hours later, I realised I had completely forgotten about the main quest and got totally sidetracked with exploring the area around Lake Hylia, finding some shrines etc.  5 hours and I had completely forgotten that I had intended to press on with the main story.

I've often got sidetracked on big, open world games but I don't think I've ever been sidetracked for that long and completely forgotten what I had originally set out to do!!

I've done well over 20 and no attempt to get near the beasts yet. Really focusing on all the towers, getting hearts and generally galavanting around the place!

This game just amazes me.Two divine beasts down and went adventuring to discover...so many new, different and interesting lands (round the back of the castle). So many things to do and strength to gain as it were. ;) You keep thinking, ok, I've seen it all now, crest a hill and...wow. more! :)

Maca, the Korok, on the Master Sword:

I wouldn't use it for trivial things like opening bottles or cans. Save it for smiting evil and stuff.

Wise words from m'little woodland buddy, there.

This game.

how to easily get on top of a sleeping Hinox

Is it hard? Very first one I encountered, not long into the game, was asleep, so I climbed on top and nicked all the weapons from his necklace.

Edit: Is there somewhere I can buy a decent shield?

Yes.

The second ancient tech research centre in northern Akkala; you get hints to go there at the first centre, so everyone does. Meanwhile, don't sell off any ancient cores, gears, shafts and the like.
