The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

All the towers done now, apart from one area which I scoured for half an hour & couldn't even see the tower in it; about halfway down the left hand side, dominated by a massive snow topped mountain.

Finally decided to make my way to meet the king of the Zora people, already had the necessary items to progress the quest so I didn't have to go see the beast on the mountain top. Had a quick kip in a handily placed bed & in ready to do battle. :D

Anyone know where Naydra or Dinraal spawn?

I've only seen Dinraal once, which wasn't really clear anyway due to it just being a red thing viewed through my scope during heavy rain. I only know the name thanks to being asked for a scale.

Naydra is

Spoiler

at the Spring of Wisdom, up Mount Lanayru. Utterly brilliant quest, which I can't believe is possible to miss out on by the stage you're at!

I saw Naydra again immediately after

doing the shrine quest as I made my way from there back to Kakariko Village. Lanayru East Gate. I'd have fast travelled to the village but hadn't explored that area before so took the scenic route.

Kilton hands out medals!? SWEET

As for Star Fragments: only the Silver Lynels drop 'em :)

Yeah just take take the option to talk to him about monsters. Then ask about each type of sub boss and he'll tell you how many you've killed.

You've got HOW MANY hearts?!

40+ hours and I'm still on 3.

I took three bars of stamina then dumped the rest into hearts ;)

The lightning based one spawns in lake hylia (I think around midnight).

edit: ah, that one is farosh.

Naydra is near the top of Mount Lanaryu (look for the small lake-like area on the map), and is corrupted by Ganon's icky mess. Shoot the icky eyeballs with arrows and then shoot him once more to get the scale, then drop the scale into the spring.

I've done that quest but the game is telling me that I need more bits of him/her. Farosh literally spawn out of the lake and you can watch it happen, whilst going to mount Lanayru about midnight lets me find it I was just wondering if anyone knew the actual spawn point once it's roaming. Same for Dinraal.

Does it respawn after doing the shrine quest? I've not seen it since.

I've found it around that mountain at about midnight.

Small thing, but if your horse doesn't want to go somewhere, for example Mr Apples is afraid of water, you can hold down ZL and the they will obey in the direction you lead them.

I never knew how much I wanted to ride through my pond until now...

I really should get on with some missions.

Damnit, 70 hours in and looking at that video, I can't believe I haven't bothered seeking out Kilton yet. Some of that kit looks brilliant. Guess what I'll be doing today!

I'm about 60 hours in and the same. I'm gonna get a pen and paper and start write stuff down i need to do as i go off on a tangent once i see another building in the distance etc. I also want to find that Korok bloke.

It's well worth finding Kilton, with some of his stuff you can pretty much waltz in and out of enemy camps and steal from the chests without even engaging in combat (apart from the ones with the glowing eyes obviously)

I've largely stayed out of this thread (I put my thoughts on the game in the 'Anybody loving the new Zelda, despite disliking previous home console entries?' thread - short version, I think it's brilliant, and is the first Zelda game I've loved), but I just wanted to come in and mention that I recently took to switching my, er, Switch into French language mode before playing Zelda, and it's made a massive impact on the quality of the voice acting.

Obviously it's only an option for people who can speak/read French (or any of the other supported languages), but if you can change to a non-English language I heartily recommend it. Dropping Prince Sidon's awful plummy accent and bland delivery for the chipper, energetic French version was worth the change alone. If only there were an option to switch to any language you like while having the text in another :(

I was hanging out in Gerudo and a shooting star shot over my head and dropped a star fragment near where I was. They fall from the sky. I've still not even started my 2nd Divine Beast as I don't want to get to a point where I'm even 50% through the main story. I think this'll take me at least 12 months to finish. There is so much to do and see. I have one tower to go and I've been on the very outskirts of the volcano area but no further. I really need to find this Kilton guy.

I genuinely think this is the best game I've ever had the pleasure to play. I have played a few Zelda games - not all of them but most of the more recent games and to be perfectly honest, I only enjoyed the DS game with the boat and felt that Windwaker was nice to look at but thoroughly dull as it took so long to do anything of note. This one, you can play for 30 minutes and do so much. Fast travel is very helpful in being able to travel to an area and have a 30 minute exploration session.

I am actually writing down things I want to do in a notebook so I'm planning my next missions and objectives rather than being told what to do by the game. I ventured into the castle earlier but made sure I didn't go too far - I can wait to go back there once I've done another 9 months or so. It's such an honest pleasure to play this.

I'll try Hard Mode in Dutch.

I'm going through the Goron area right now. Those cheap sledge hammers make short work of the molten giants.

Aye, the Lynel with the shock arrows near Zora's Domain was constantly destroying me. I resorted to just stealing the arrows in the area and running away

That's what I did. I also thought he looked too awesome to kill. You've got to respect the wildlife - I don't ever kill foxes as they're like my friends on the mountains - they don't attack me so I'll leave them alone. Wolves can fuck off though - they're dicks.

I'm hunting for the guy that helped

build my house

I take it he'll be around the base of the volcano area? Just got there after some patience stretching climbing during intermittent rainstorms...

The one who wanders off afterwards? He's in the

Spoiler

Akkala region (East of Hyrule Castle). If you unlock the tower in the region and look down, you'll spot a little stone island (I think it's just north of the tower) with a bridge to the mainland. He's on there.

Oh, yeah, totally; there are even ways to somewhat consistently farm those, but that's not neeeeeaaaaarly as much fun as taking on Silver Lynels :) I've only had two drops so far (must've killed at least a dozen and a half).

Did you find something better than just standing on the mountains? I've pretty much given up the quest to fully upgrade all my gear because I can't be bothered to just stand on top of a hill hoping :(

This Kilton fellow then, I've run round most of the map but don't think I've found him? Is he attached to a questline / story progression?

If the answer is spoilery, feel free to stick in in tags. Thanks.

Talk to people at the stables in Akkala.

This game just made me grin like a mad bastard twice in a row.

First it was something I came across at the stables on the way to Death Mountain and the second was the solution to the shrine that was close by.

30 hours in and I've only just reached the Gorons after doing the first Divine Beast.

I'm in love with this game. Simply incredible stuff

The survival aspect of this is just incredible. After a huge battle with some lizalfos in freezing conditions, even with my snow boots on and warm doublet I was losing health, and I was all out of warming elixirs, I made a series of fires atop a mountain to keep warm, then I melted a big ice block by building fires around its base. Was constantly scrabbling around and fighting for breath. It felt awesome. This game.

'Finished' this after 75 hours. I'm going to spoiler something that isn't really a spoiler. Nothing to do with narrative, mechanics or bosses but serves as a warning I wish I had about the bit between heading to Calamity and getting there. If you're not an amazing Zelda player it might be worth reading this.

Just getting from the outskirts of the castle grounds to where you eventually end up is a mammoth mission in of itself.

I went into this thinking it would be a similar setup to the 4 previous bosses where you have a big dungeon but a travel point right near the boss encounter. So if you discover you are not prepared enough you can easily go back and forth. This isn't the case at the end.

It took me about a hour to get from outside to the boss and there are no travel points, so if you get to the boss and struggle you can't restart and try again later without doing the whole journey again (which I'm sure some could do in 5mins but seriously took me about 1 hour). I brought quite a few hearty recipes with me but I wish instead of several I had made about 30. By the time I got to the boss I had used all my major heart recipes and was dependent on gulping around 10 apples/mushrooms at a time etc. I made it through the skin of my teeth and was so so close to restarting it all over again which would have been soul destroying and really annoying as it's just bad design and baffling. Thankfully for some reason I still had lots of apples and mushrooms!

Note : I've since found that there IS a travel point hidden somewhere along the way but it's still not even halfway during that journey, sounds like it's around 25% into it.

I'm about 20 hours in and racing my first Lynel (after Zora's domain) and he's whooping me.

Am am I just shit or underpowered? I have 5 hearts and can get a few hits in but they do bugger all damage and he tends to kill me in one hit. Any tips? Should I avoid hit entirely and get some more hearts and better weapons?

My sidequest list is slowly getting out of hand so I've decided to actually do some before carrying on with the main quest.

I'm trying to do the Misako, The Great Bandit quest but I've literally no idea where to go - The hints you're giving make me think I need to be looking by Dueling Peaks but I'm probably completely wrong! Am I in the right area or way off the mark?
