EDIT: People give an honest-to-God fuck about lore?

Not on the whole, no. Although I'd personally find running around as Ocarina Link a little off-putting. Plus, what's so wrong with BotW Link? Green-dyed Hylian attire looks way more fitting than any fairy-boy Kokiri stuff. Each to their own, I suppose, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to get Amiibo to unlock things like that.

It's a bit like playing as R.P.D Leon on Resi 4. It's a cool novelty if you're already beaten the game, for all of three seconds.

BUT I really need to find korok forrest or whatever I've got tons of seeds and no weapons.

Can someone give me some hints? So far I've unlocked the bottom third of the map and worked my way up the edge to death mountain.

When you first met him he said he'd be following Lake Hylia north :)

It's over. I've reached the end of my quest.

In the end it was a case of weighing up whether to finish everything else first or accept that I'd already been overpowered for quite some time.

Running away from my first Major Test of Strength shrine feels like a long time ago now.

It's been emotional.

Yes, the days of fearing major tests of strength are long gone.  I've reached the point where I'm happy to tie this all up now - I haven't checked but I'd expect to be 80-odd hours in.  I'm not arsed about finishing all shrines or side quests.  I'll do the final beast and see the story off then just dip back in every now and for a bit of exploring or climbing.  What a game this has been.

Did you all get the game at launch? It's interesting that a lot of people are coming to the end of the game around about the same time, probably despite vastly different amounts of hours spent.

Some of us may not want it to end. I'm at fifty hours with just one dungeon down, but around thirty shrines out of the way. I'll head to Ganon after I struggle finding any further shrines. I estimate my play will sit at around 120 hours.

I took down my first Lynel today. It took me a big stack of bomb arrows and two fairies, but he went down in the end. So friggin cool. I used the updraft from its fire breath to launch myself into the air on my para-glider, then as I was descending I whipped my bow out and deadeyed him in the face with a bomb arrow in super slow motion before landing, mounting him and whacking him around the head with my massive fire sword (oo-er). Such satisfaction!

I'm about 30 hours in and have only unlocked about a third of the map. There's just so much to do! Amazing game.

I was in on launch day, 85+ hours in and only done 2 of the divine beasts, I'll be saving the ending for quite some time, although I am having a bit of FOMO now that a lot more forumites are hitting the end game.

I did yeah. I'm nowhere near completion, I think there would be scores more hours in that. I've just got that nice contented feeling that I've seen and done enough and I've loved every damn minute bar the odd little frustration here and there. One of the finest games I've played but I do want it to end. If only so I can get back to Sniper Elite and Blood Bowl :P

I feel dirty.  I'm not into collectable figures but still bought my first Amiibo today to help me out in the game.  I saw a lonely Guardian Amiibo in Sainsburys earlier and so grabbed it.  I would have preferred one of the Link ones, Wolf Link mostly, but of course all the Zelda related ones seem to be out of stock everywhere at retail prices, and I'm not being ripped off by paying eBay / Amazon seller rates.  A shame, because although it may be considered cheating by some, I really wouldn't mind the bonuses from some of them.  I might actually complete the game one day then.

Yeah I've bought three, after fiercely denying that I'd ever be tempted to buy one. And if I saw a toon link on for less then £20 then I'd probably get that too.

Haven't a clue! I only know that several work with the game. You can only write a amiibo to a NFC cards once, so i only really bought enough to cover the amiibos i own.

What are are you using to write them? Do you have an online guide to using these to spoof Amiibo's?

Ah, is that how people are unlocking the Fierce Diety and Skyward Sword sets?

Yeah, that  or some Datel Amiibo device.

... Why is the amount of shrine quests I need to complete greater than the actual shrines I have left?

Probably for the same reason I've done 120 shrines and only 26 of the shrine quests :)

Using a app for the android called tagmo.  Search gbatemp for the guide.  Honestly it's very easy,  you just need the nfc master keys and there is a amiibo website with all the files there.

The only issues I had were make sure you buy the NFC 215 tags. I accidentally bought NFC 203 cards which dont work ( found that out the hard way).

Other issue I had was I needed to get a modified version of tagmo that worked on my phone but thst was in the tutorial.

Make sure your phone has NFC obviously.. But you choose the amiibo you want to write in the app, hold up the nfc card and job done!

I would have loved to have done this rather than destroying the packaging on my Guardian to get it, and for spoofing a couple of the other Amiibos seeing as Nintendo cannot, or will not meet demand.  I don't have an Android device though, and there is no way to do it without, right?

I'll probably still be playing this at Christmas. I'm about 15 hours in so far and have only just found my second lot of stables. I was starting to lose interest this week because I'd found the first photo location but was at a loss about what to do next and couldn't seem to find shrines anywhere. But I persisted and just kept climbing to high ground to look for them and it's got its hooks back into me again.

People who keep Amiibo's in the packaging are the worst people.

So... how do people use the stamps a markers on the map?

i mark shrines in the current area with markers.  Once co played I mark then with a chest but but there must be a nicer way of marking areas of interest and shines that I've completed/not completed.   What are your methods of marking the map rllmuk?

in other news I killed a bad guy by throwing a bomb at him. Missed but the blast cut down a tree and It toppled over to flatten him. :D

And must have a lot of storage space available, packaged Amiibos aren't exactly small.

But as I said, I have no interest in collectable figures.  I purely bought one for help in Zelda and would have been much happier if I could have left it packaged up so it can't get damaged, chucked up in the loft out of the way and simply using an NFC card with the game.  I want other Zelda Amiibos for other in-game perks, but again, I have no idea in having them on display.

I've been marking areas where there's probably a Korok I couldn't get (due to lack of arrows or big boulders rolling to far away from me) to remind me to go back. I should probably mark nice Ore deposits. I've been marking where those big Stone chaps are so I can go kill them again for gems after each blood moon.

The Shrines already appear on the map as fast travel points and show you whether they're completed and whether or not you got all the chests, don't they?

I spent about 5 hours exploring round the Akkala region today.

Spoiler

I found a mysterious blue flame at the top of a hill surrounded by loads of unlit lamps. Because I was just exploring, I decided to try lighting them to see where it led. After about 90 minutes of running around, killing enemies and lighting lamps (with a brief 4 hours of game time where I couldn't do much because of rain), I followed the lamps to the top of the hill, where there was a half buried Guardian waiting for me next to another research lab.

I stopped dead. I had read Spainkillers incredible guide on the best way to tackle Guardians, but I hadn't actually attempted it. Every encounter I'd had with a Guardian had ended with me in a burning heap on the floor. What would happen if I failed and died? Would all my lit lamps have to be re-lit? If I left the area and came back better equipped, would I have to start again?

I was going to have to try it. But by god I didn't want to. I had 2 shields: a decent Knights Shield and a Bokoblin Spiked Shield. I selected the Bokoblin Shield (figured I would rather lose that than the other) and moved in slowly. The Guardian's head swiveled round - it's red tracking light locked on me. I panicked: I was still too far away! I ran towards him with the hope of closing the gap. But it was too late. His Laser Beam of Death struck and left me with half a heart and one burning Bokoblin Shield. Link feebly got to his feet as the shield disintegrated. I swapped back to the Knights Shield and prepared myself for his next attack.

The red tracking beam found me....

I stood my ground, shield held up high waiting for the blue glint....

There! I quickly jabbed the parry button....

And missed. I died a horrible burning mess on the ground. Still, I respawned a few feet away, luckily with the existing lamps still lit. I got the bastard next time though. 8-)

This game.  I've played about 45 hours and only done 32 shrines and 29 Korok seeds. But I haven't been bored for a single minute.

I'm about 30 hours in and I've only just reached my first of the main dungeons. I've found around 70 Korok seeds and done a bunch of Shrines but there's still so, so much to see in the small area I've explored so far. This game is a very good game.

The shrines are automatically marked when you find them. If you can't get in or activate it then the whole logo is orange, if you've been in but not finished it the outside is blue but the inside is orange, if you've completed it the whole map marker is blue, and if you've got all the chests in there then there's a little chest next to the name. There's literally no reason to ever mark a shrine after you've been to it at least once.

I've got all the stone talus' I've found marked, with six separate markers for which type it is and where the weak point is. The only stamp that leaves free I've got marking the Moldugas.
