I think we're talking at cross purposes here. I was talking about the five Shiekah Slate docking stations you need to find on the Elephant Divine Beast. What flummoxed me for so long was that I hadn't managed to get to the docking station that

unlocks the map and the elephant trunk controls

, which is required to get the last two or three docking stations. I spent ages running around those water wheels wondering how to get them to interlock or find a different source of flowing water for the higher one.

This is what I meant, I had no idea I could control the elephant so couldn't do the third(?) onward till i twigged (it took ages).

I think Darhkwing is referring to a chest near the start which I just gave up on as couldn't get it out.

Ah, gotcha. No, I opened the door to the map pretty much right away (can't recall how) so wasn't an issue for me.

Maybe spoiler the hint about

trunk and controlling it being needed for the last three.

Maybe not.

So, 85 hours in and I finally worked out last night how to get the half buried chests out of the ground / water etc.... I feel stupid :(

Had to use a guide to get the Elephant dungeon done, smashed the flying one right off the bat though :P

I think everyone has a blind spot for something in this game - there's just so much you can do.

Highlight of last night was climbing up a waterfall to a small lake, accidentally activating Magnesis and noticing there were five - five! - treasure chests under the water around me. The only downside to this revelation is that I now have to revisit every body of water in the game.

I mean the chest in the wheel thing,  that spins when the water is on. It's sandwiched between two rocks.

I haven't (other than the ones on the three peaks near the research centre); but I know it's significant.

Because almost everything about the landscape is significant in this game - it's one of the most symbolic landscapes in gaming. Everything has meaning, or points you towards something else.

Do you add one, or take two away?

I just battered it with arrows, then got in close. Seemed to do the trick.

Spoiler

You know the ice blocks he throws at you. I shot them with arrows, only to discover later on that you can use the ice rune on them to destroy them!
