Bloodborne - GOTD edition

Have you got any wearables that increase poison resistance? I found the key to that third form was just to take it slow, and try not to get poisoned at all, rather than accepting poison and then trying to antidote. So, get up close to him, get a couple of hits in, and then back off and wait for the poison cool-down to drop a bit. It's tough to keep an eye on in the heat of battle but I guess just try not to stay close to him for very long. IIRC he does an AOE poison thing that takes him a little while to pull off when in the third form, so just run away then and let the meter drop.

It really helps to have a weapon with reach for BSB as well, imo.

Edit: I realise the "take it slow" kinda contradicts other advice in here about being aggressive and staying close to him. That is what he's susceptible to, so it's why the third form is quite clever imo, it becomes about finding a balance between aggression and patience and sort of takes the battle in a slightly different direction than the other forms. I loved the BSB fight personally. You've got a decent space to fight him, the camera doesn't usually cause you problems (unless you find yourself behind the pillars), there aren't multiple enemies to worry about, and his attacks aren't as difficult to read as other bosses. A very honest Souls boss, if there ever was one :).

I've got the Hunter Gear that you can buy in the shop, I compared it against all the other gear I have and is available to buy with insight and it seems to have the strongest poison res though I may be wrong (I took a screenshot on my phone of the insight shop gear as couldn't see another way to compare!), also I lost a few insight last night summoning Alfred again which was a waste of time. Think I'm going to leave it till Saturday now as going out tomorrow and rather tired after today's exertions with work/dentist. I really appreciate all the comments and tips from everyone and the offers of teaming up, it is very much appreciated from you all! He will go down, eventually.

I was also struggling with BSB a couple of days ago.  I wasn't finding Alfred much use but after a few deaths I summoned another actual human player and we took it down first go.  You might not want to go down that route but for me this ability to summon help is what's turning the game from a frustrating experience into one of the best things I've played for years.

Yeah Dood kindly offered to help me at 2pm but I had to work, I'll be around most of the weekend so will probably come here asking for someone to assist if they can, I tried the summoning random last night and nothing, I am level 39 I think and I believe there can only be 10 levels between you and the summoned party?

Even though BSB is annoying me I'm still totally in love with this game, I thought Fallout 4 would my GOTY for 2015 but after realising it was just kill every fucking thing it became my massive disappointment (FO3 and FONV were my fave games last gen), this game though, this would have been my GOTY had I actually not been so silly and thinking it wasn't for me and actually bought it back then. I think the reputation that the Souls/Borne games have sometimes does not work in their favour, it certainly put me off trying what is an amazing game.

He will.

By the way, you can grab screenshots by hitting Share and then triangle.

Hitting Share then Square saves the last 15 minutes as a vid - when you do beat BSB (and you will) I'm sure we'd love to see the fight!

I needed the phone shot of the insight shop items so I could have my gear on the screen to compare against :)

Just to go back to antidotes, I'd say don't bother, just heal instead. The poison is there to distract you and make you want to back off, which is exactly what BSB wants.  Don't let it affect you, just stay up in his face and keep an eye on your health.

I'm going to give this a try but it doesn't seem to be available for the price stated on the thread title anywhere right now. If anyone sees a deal, let me know!

Im not sure if an hour or two here and there will massively work with a game like this but I'm intrigued enough by the release of another Souls game and the positive reviews of that to feel like Bloodborne is worth a go as an entry point to these kinds of games.

I picked up the GOTY edition from Amazon for £27, for the enjoyment I've had from the game it is definitely worth it! Also I only play it in 1-2 hour stints too during the week and it's not an issue, just be warned the first few hours are really hard but once you get to level up a bit it all begins to click and is extremely enjoyable and atmospheric. If you like interesting worlds and maps and heaps of atmosphere then I highly recommend.

Seems to have gone up to £30 now but it's still worth it at that price, standard looks like £27 but might as well spend an extra £3 for the DLC right?

Ahh Base, com have got it for under £28, it's who you want to buy from I guess - http://www.base.com/buy/product/bloodborne-game-of-the-year-ps4/dgc-bldbrnps4.htm?awc=2694_1461944735_375cf605279997e15f4c5790857ff9c1

You need to beat a certain boss and then you get an item turn up at Hunters Dream which gains you passage via a....

You know what, just Google it, it's so unnecessarily obtuse accessing any From Soft DLC. It's worth it though, it's easily on a par with the best of the main game.

The DLC areas are separate to the main game areas but you can access them quite early (not far from where you are at the moment). They're tough, however, so it'd probably make sense to wait until you're close to the end of the main game.

The way you access the DLC is quite obscure, so you might want to check a guide if you don't stumble upon it during your playthrough. I wouldn't worry about it for now, however. Keep playing through the main game - it's not possible to lose access to the DLC altogether.

Every time there's a new post I think it's Minion announcing he's beaten BSB...

Haha I wish, I felt too sketchy to even contemplate gaming yesterday and today I'm just about to head into town with a friend so haven't had the chance yet. Will try tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for thinking of me though.
