Toss me an invite :)

and tell me your glyph

It's the one you mentioned: ayxgs267

I think I've opened up everywhere now (although trying to rush WotOL and KotOL wasn't easy :D ); I've unlocked the gate to A but just haven't entered the arena yet...

I have beat Kos.

This effectively means I've 'beaten' all of Bloodborne and it's DLC, and now prep'ed to move onto DaS3! oh yeah!

That Boss was an utter bastard, but total Souls Buzz on taking him out.

After DaS3, I'll most likely come back to this save and go for the Platinum!

Me and df0 had some good attempts at A this evening but I think he's going to take a break and try again later. As my method has involved waiting to see what the boss does and then going in if I know there's a long recovery, I did a lot of standing around waiting for chances whilst df0 was getting stuck in a bit more. We got really close on a few attempts but luck wasn't on our side (and it's kind of annoying that you have to go back to the dream to get more stored vials every time a session ends :hmm: )

We'll get it next time deefo ^_^

Told him he should have done it before this... Still, NG+ DLC should be okay, unlike NG+++ DLC...

I'd recommend doing the DLC on NG the first time, for sure, even if you had to roll a new character to get there. It's really tough anyway, and on NG+ it's brutal.

I've managed a good bit of progress today; I've finished off the Pthumeru Ithyll chalice and downed LtFV.

Headless BLB was a bit of a nightmare - he turned out much more difficult than I expected, mainly due to the second phase, which was really really evil - pretty much everything would one shot me, and it was almost impossible to heal (or stay alive) with my usual BLB tactics. So I tried a few things and resolved to do it maintaining really close range without using lock-on (which is is a liability against a boss that big in a room that small anyway, and up close it's like another enemy). His punch-punch-slam combo took some time for me to learn, but once I had the dodge timing for that down I knew I'd get it done (I was instinctively rolling way too early).

YPQ should have been easy, by all accounts. But instead she seemed to have a million little annoying ways to get me killed. The worst (and the only one I couldn't find a way to alleviate was the blood spikes coming from underneath you. They would just randomly hit me, no matter what I tried doing - unless I managed to pick up the audio queue and get the dodge timing right amidst all the chaos. In my successful run I think I just got lucky as she only did it once that I recall. I picked up some handy tips while researching the fight on YT which helped speed up the tedious first phase of the fight at least.

After finishing that chalice, I felt a little more confident about doing Loran Darkbeast without lock on (and getting the Ithyll root chalice has allowed me to get some neat new runes and an extra blood rock \o/), but I wanted to try finishing off the DLC before returning to the Lower Loran chalice. That left me with the option of LtFV or LM. I decided to go with LtFV, as I'm still a bit scared of LM.

He turned out to be as much of a dick as I remember. There is a semi-reliable way to get him to do some nice combinations of moves* which are easy to dodge and punish, but half the time he will just throw out something random from his enormous moveset instead and catch you off guard. I was (for some reason?) strangely confident about handling the second phase of the fight, despite having no real plan for what to do (which totally shows in my successful effort), all my previous attempts I had died trying to get the spacing and dodge timing down for the melee swipes, and I learned the hard way not to try and get a hit in when he does the delayed overhead, as there is a sneaky follow-up attack if you run in. In the end I played it super safe and just took a single swipe at each opening, or two if I get in quickly after the spitting moves.

Next up will be LM I suppose. I'm not really looking forward to that, I must admit :/

Fair play Polmon, you've bloody smashed it!

What's your save file time, out of curiosity?

I may be requesting help for the defiled chalice over the next couple of weeks, gotta get that last cheevo before souls 3 hits!

Finally found the boxed GOTY on sale from Shopto for £27.85 so snapped it up.  Not entirely sure it's my cuppa so didn't want to go digital for this.  Also not sure when it will get played - probably in the summer hiatus with the curtains drawn........

It's so fucking good. Did you check a wiki to see if you missed any areas, noob? It's easily done.

We talked about one or two of them on twitter - I asked if he'd taken the detour to IC where you pick up the CS, and he also found the UCW door and asked me what was behind it.

I might have put him off UCW by mentioning how hard I found it though...

It took 450 blood vials and 50 bolt papers, but LM has fallen. Holy shit was that intense! I had the first phase down pat (providing she didn't get to transform her weapon), and could get her to phase 2 in about 40 seconds. This next stage was much the same, but there were less opportunities to get in hits, and many more opportunities to die. The charge attacks were my biggest problem for quite a while, but once I had the tells sussed, they became a godsend, particularly during phase 3, as they are the easiest thing to dodge consistently and have a huge recovery time letting you get some good hits in.

In phase 1 I found you could dodge the opening attack and just walk up to her and get 3 hits in, then -at point blank- circle strafe around her anti-clockwise and her next attack would always whiff*, leaving you plenty of time to walk up to her and repeat the process.

* unless the next attack was the delayed double slash, or a transform attack, but both of those are telegraphed.

The fight eventually came down to having a lucky 3rd phase - many of my other attempts were better during the first two phases, but I would get clipped by the fire while dodging, and not get an opportunity to recover. Or I would get one shotted by the delayed double slash, after panic dodging when things got a bit too intense.

It took a good 40 minutes for the adrenaline to wear off after finally beating her. I was so pumped by the time I finally hit that last blow, I dropped the controller and just threw my arms in the air like a fucking legendary boxing champ.

Thanks Davros

I've now polished off the DLC. Bradors' appearances were no real issue, and I quickly found an easy approach to the first phase of OoK, which worked consistently. Baiting the jump attack gave me a really good opportunity to land a double back attack, which dealt really good damage compared to my normal attacks, and had pretty much zero risk involved. All I had to do then was survive the second phase.

The key to that was learning the tells for when he was going to do the grenade bombardment, and making sure to fight him out in the water so that I was always far away enough to be able to avoid the lightning, if it came. I felt fairly confident going into the, but it still took quite a while to get everything down so that I wasn't getting caught by all the one hit kill stuff. A satisfying end to the DLC section of this run.
