Hmm, my new build is a bit of a Mess. Currently around 6 bosses in and in the FW area, my guy is kinda a "Glass Cannon" I guess. I've got super high SKILL but everything else is in the teens so not really got good defence against anything.

I take BIG damage when I make a mistake, but with certain weapons I get really good damage output.

Tempted to start again and put a bit more thought in the build.

With my original and current character I'm balancing out some stats to hopefully avoid these situations; I pick a stat for the thing I think I'll be using the most (Strength, Skill, Bloodtinge, Arcane) and then alternate between upgrading that, Vitality and Endurance. Maybe you could use some runes for damage reduction or something (although if your defence is really low a couple of % might not change much...)

This might be obvious but you know there are two bosses there right? The first one was a doddle but I have yet to beat the second. Feel like I know what I need to do but huge health pool and getting over eager towards the end tends to do me in :(

Yeah, this. First boss was a doddle, second one, not so much!

Ok I just completed the upper cathedral ward. Anyone else find the boss unbelievably easy? I had reset my ps4 so I don't think I had the easy version.

Yes CE is fairly straight forward but

CE isn't the only boss

Edit : far to slow responding, I died :)

Thinking of trying to put together a low-level invasion build now that the multiplayer matchmaking seems a bit better. Anyone tried this? Any tips? Guide says you have to be over level 30 before you can be invaded, so I reckon I'd need a build in level 40-50 range. I'm thinking OY, CW or FW would be good areas to try my luck.

If I kill a boss in an area, does that prevent me from invading there? Couldn't see anything on the guide, but different info on the wikis.

I did some lv50 'twinking' in FW earlier this week and got regular invasions but i was trying to 'stream snipe' so it probably was busier because of that. My tip is to max out your stuff beforehand because 80% of the adversaries seemed to have max lvl. gear already.

You can still invade after you've killed the boss, it just spawns a bell maiden so you can be invaded as well.

Interesting little quote from Miyazaki interview in the guide:

"This game has the Wooden Shield - the only shield in the game - and it doesn't seem like a very reliable piece of equipment, but some people say that it gets more and more important the more times you play through the game with it."

Just trolling?

Months and months of stuff, just waiting to be discovered....

So I've had a great (well, not great, it's been a tough journey) time in FW so far. Not yet found my way to the boss, but loads of adventures along the way.

spoiler for FW area and NPCs.

Found a pathway through a fucking poison lake to Iosefka's clinic. Took offence at her experimenting on people, so killed her. Wasn't expecting her to have a fucking demon snake arm! Then, I finally got past that cannon dude in the village, and into the giant windmill. Found the shortcut back to the start, and cashed in. Went back to the windmill, and the lone guy I sneak attacked the first time turned into a snake head. That caught me out. Then made my way to the top. There's a dude standing in a pile of bodies being all nicey-nicey. Fuck that guy. That looked like a little old dead lady next to him, so I did for him, too. Except then he changed into a massive fucking Beast. Cunt.

Luckily, the notes on the ground had given some warning. So I legged it back to the stairwell and poison knived him to death. What a dick.

What a game. I haven't yet had a proper stab at DBP in the HG yet. Maybe I'll try that later.

Is there any reason why I'm unable to warp to certain areas right now? Wanted to have a crack at DP but it won't let me warp to the area.

You will need to go through a different bit to get back there as that lamp is now defunct, IIRC.

Mike, did you get the - IC spoiler

Cainhurst Summons

I got it by surprise and went there almost by chance. CC - what an incredible place. Stunning architecture.

I too did some adventuring rather than take on SoY tonight. CC / FW related

Similar to Uncle Mike, I picked up the cannon, talked to the NPC and then went back to Isofeka's gaff, but didn't fight her. Then I went to Hemwick Crossing and on to Cainhurst, which reminded me very much of the Painted land from DS1. Really great location, managed to unlock a short cut but I seem to be being attacked by invisible enemies. I've been branded (it looks like) a couple of times too.

Just killed Rom on my second attempt, but it was close. I'd taken out all of the little fuckers and got his/her health down to a third, but had no blood vials left. I lit some fire paper up and hoped for the best. In their third state Rom is really quite an aggressive cunt but I just managed it.

Since BSB, which took me forever, all the bosses have only taken me a couple of attempts. VA, UG, DP, WoH, SoY and Rom were all much easier than they first seemed, but maybe all the effort I put into BSB just made me better.

Eileen never showed up but now wants to kill me, which she's so far succeeding at.

Also, should I be worried about the nun if she hasn't done anything by this point? I'm tempted to kill her.

Yeah, I got that Goose. I'll have to go check it out.

I thought it was a really impressive area, though must admit it did feel a bit samey after 20m. Well worth a visit. And it was nice to go back to HCL with a +6 weapon and lay waste to everything.

I managed to solo MP last night

at the second time of asking

I had summoned for G as I was inpatient to get the run finished, but I thought I would try and man up and finish of MP and end the game with 99 insight. Not quite sure how I got it so high without really trying but nowt special happened as far as I know.

Had a wonderful nightmarish afternoon, I mopped up three bosses! DP, CE and TOR! I also tried adding E, DotC to that list but fuuuuuuck. Talk about massive damage! Saving that one for later, now I'm exploring the new areas after TOR but I'm kinda stuck and there's something here and I have no idea and oh god - and up until now it was going so well

Funny thing is that I was really struggling against TOR a few days ago. I gave up, went and explored elsewhere, came back this afternoon and beat that bastard first try. It felt easy! Wondrous Bloodborne, reeks of awesome game

Horriblehead

I'll add you now - I'm free now as well if you want to give it a go (bring bolt paper if you have it)

Added - put your summoning password as rllmuk - I'll wait outside the boss room and ring my small bell if you want to do it now

Had another go at VA with my Bloodtinge character and got her down to about 20-25% health with vials to spare but got really greedy and killed myself :P I'm enjoying the Hunter's Axe though; the swings are great and it's good at chopping limbs. ;)

Also, I'm quite pleased that the guide has details of Coldblood items; in my first playthrough I never wanted to use the bigger ones because I didn't know if they'd give me way more blood echoes than I'd need

I'm using Ludwig's Blade most of the time now, but I still usually go back to the axe for any large beasts. Swinging it at legs is always pretty reliable as you don't need to be too accurate with it. It has good range too with the R2 charge attack. If the first swing misses, the second usually hits.

I'm using the LHB all the time also, switching to either my RS or

Tonitrus

if it seems unusual. I had been using the Saw Spear, but now have the LHB to +6. Sadly, those other two weapons aren't quite to the same level yet.

Still using the default pistol for a gun. Does it make any sense to level it really?

I do need to get a new TV. Looks great on my HD ready set, but I just wondered if it would look even better on a new telly at 1080p.Then again, the lower resolution on my set might be helping it if you say it's a bit jaggy?

Such a gorgeous game though, regardless:

Tell GrahamS...you were right about me...you were riiiiight...

:D

We should have a beer after work to discuss it once you've finished. I wonder how Graham is getting on with it too.

Hey guys! I'm making my way slowly through the thread and got up to here!

I'm so happy Davros loves the game! Vistas, windmills, RE4, omens all seemed good but I was worried he might not. What a result!

I had a couple of weeks off, I was a bit stuck with the guy atop the tower in OY, I was lasting 2 seconds after a careful 10-15 mins of clearing out the route. So I had a little break and played Axiom Verge.

When I came back this week I did the CW instead, so I've now done a lot of H (more to do after being killed by 2 executioners), I've got VA to kill, I've gone right at the steps and lost my souls unexpectedly (I don't think I got a crow badge like you did from killing the two hunters around the well). I've just gone back to OY and now I'm much stronger and have learned to just run past stuff I don't want to bother with, so I polished off tower guy easily and opened up a shortcut. Next step is to investigate there a bit more (feels like a boss is up ahead). Then go back to H. Occassionly take another shot at VA, though I might have to co-op that one.

Anyway, loving the game, 30 hours in, level 36 or so. I'm sure I'm making slow progress but it's such a terrific game. Can't wait to go back.

Since the patch I'm mostly playing offline as I like being able to Rest Mode. I miss the messages and ghosts though.

I'm still a long way behind in this thread. Hope you're all still having fun. I'll catch up with you all again once I get to the end of the thread! :)
