The Rllmuk Photography Thread

Recommended Posts

Just dabling around with my phone to see if I have the right eye for it, what do people think of this photo I took on my iPhone, I’ve run it through lightroom on iOS...

I’ve screenshotted and then cropped the black bits to get the file size down to post it...

Anyone here done a landscape photography trip to Iceland? Looking to go mid September for some awesomeness!

Yes did one a few years ago using Wild Photography Holidays, though I went in February. It was absolutely stunning and you can see why so many photographers go there. WildPhotography were pretty good as well, taking you off the well-worn paths and giving you a fair amount of information about the locations so it become as much of an adventure as it did about landscape photography They weren't great for helping out technically if you needed it but otherwise very good hosts. Album from my trip here: https://www.petejohns.photography/Gallery/Iceland

Last weekend I dusted off my trusty Macro lens to get some damsel and dragon flies. Following taken using the Canon 2.8 USM (not L) and Canon 100-400L.

Taken with my cheap(ish) Sony Cyber-Shot DSC - HX350 on a trip to Cornwall. Never owned a 'Proper' camera before, so have absolutely no idea what I'm doing regarding settings, etc.

Regardless, I think some of these look nice.

Some recents shots. I admire street photography so much but never get the chance to do any, so really enjoyed trying it out the other day in Manchester and Chorley even though it was very brief.

I downloaded a preset pack from Jamie Windsor and have been using my manual focus Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 and starting to really enjoy taking a different style of photograph...

A few more from the Rolleiflex.

Portra 160:

Tramlines

St Vitus Cathedral

St. Vitus Cathedral

(St Vitus Cathedral interior) Handheld at something ridiculous like half a second so I'm surprised it's not more blurry.

St. George's Basilica

Passing Tram

Tramming

Český Krumlov

The Either Ilford Delta 100 or FP4 ( Can't remember or able to see any difference):

Lookout Tower

Vltava View

Café Louvre

Edit: first one’s FP4 the other two are Delta. I think I actually prefer FP4.

Iceland flights and accommodation booked up! Very very excited!

We went to Iceland a few years ago. Not on a photo trip though - just for a few days’ holiday as my wife and her friends wanted to see the northern lights.

Really stunning landscapes.

Some photos taken over the weekend of the women’s London Classique. Not really got the right equipment compared to others as everyone else had their bigass Canon 70-200s compared to my didly 50mm

Thanks, I’ve had a look at other photos people have uploaded on Instagram from the same event, I think they’ve come out average? Seen some worse and some much better there.

It does seem pretty random on which riders are in focus or not and there’s no Bokeh, but as a first attempt, I’m happy :)

I'm expecting that, by the end of the day, that this will be my most popular photo I've ever uploaded to Flickr. It's over 14,000 views already because it got into Explore (near the top - #25). It's nowhere near the top in terms of faves, but it's racing ahead with clicks.

I only uploaded it as a bit of an afterthought too. I quite like it, but it's nothing special I don't think, and not a personal favourite or anything. Most of the time my photos that I do like the best are not the ones that get on Explore. It's almost always something slightly random.

Nice. I was just looking at Bulgaria as a potential photography trip next year :)

It's definitely beautiful! Here in Switzerland there are pretty mountains and lakes too, but Bulgaria just has more of a vastness to it, simply being larger and much less densly populated.

As a disclaimer though, the first two pictures are from Denmark ;) - also, there a few extra pictures on my blog in the link.

Amazing, I love the one with the other person taking a shot, I love the layers of hills, so many!

What did you use to take them?

I’ve  just been out with my newly acquired 70-200 and every picture has been shit :(

Thanks! I really like all those layers too - becoming almost abstract in the haze...

All the pictures above were taken with my Nikon D750 with a Nikon 24-120 f/4 lens, then postprocessed in Lightroom.

And yes, I feel your pain. Almost always when new gear arrives, I end up thinking that it'll somehow magically transform every photo I take into something fantastic :P All the pictures above could probably have been taken almost just as well (for internet-use at least) with a low-range Nikon DSLR and a kit-lens... In the end it's all about the subject, the composition and the lighting...

A few random bits and bobs from a walk around Eyam the other day. These are all on digital (my GX7 micro four thirds).

This shot was my main reason for the trip - to recce this location for a potential visit in the autumn when there is some nice colour on the tree and the sunrise is at more amenable time. :)

This is Eyam Hall. It's no longer open to the public, so I had to stick the lens through the gate for this.

A thistle. I think I might've overdone it with the vignette on this. What do you think?

And finally, a distant radio mast shot with an old Tamron Adaptall 2 80-210mm lens that I'd adapted onto the camera. This was probably at the full 210mm (so 420mm equivalent on the GX7). It's been gunged up a bit and had some grain added in Lightroom.

A few more shots from the Peak District near Eyam. These are all taken on a Minolta Hi-Matic G2 using Ilford HP5+. Sorted in chronological order as I walked the track and then back again..
