Waiting for the road by Nayson, on Flickr

Stuck in the sidings at work a couple of hours ago, just put the camera on the deck to see what would come out.  Not bad for a straight out of the camera jpeg. I've found myself either getting fussier or less happy with what I'm shooting of late. Not sure why, but I guess I see so many people with a better eye for composition than I've got and it is a bit disheartening at times.  Some stuff from the past month though:

All shot on Ilford Delta 3200, hence the massive ammounts of film grain.

Cheers. It was taken with my phone (pixel 3 XL) and edited with snapseed. And i have to say i'm really impressed with the camera on this phone and Snapseed is still the best phone photo editor i've used.

You can set up scenes till the cows come home, but being in the right place at the right time and just sticking the camera up always get the best shots :D

"Heroes never die!"

Winter Lights in the pissing rain.  Made me think of Mercy from Overwatch.  Raindrops on the lens look quite nice imo.

Did I post this one already?  Kinda like that I got busted going for a candid shot.

One of the buildings near London Bridge.  Was hoping to get some sunset shots from the Sky Garden on Fenchurch Street but about an hour before I was due in the cloud cover hit 100% and it started pissing down.  Some of the buildings with the lights on in the January gloom looked nice though.

It’s been a while since I’ve used my DSLR. I thought it was interesting that my workflow has gone from Shoot RAW > 9000 hours in Lightroom > Export to Shoot JPEG > Edit on iOS using Snapseed.

Get much grief? When I was out there I got shouted at and all sorts... they fucking hate photographers.... I ended up finding a side alley, standing in it and photographing people as they walked past... or used my lcd and shot without holding the camera up....

I don’t think people like having their photos taken. The Medina is particularly bad in that nothing is free. Apparently you should ask permission and offer some money if you want to take someone’s photo. Didn’t have any issues taking photos of shops, though.

The Medina itself is interesting but I found it very stressful. Constant heckling and sales pitches.

Plymouth aquarium

I went to the aquarium yesterday in Plymouth. It was really difficult to get any decent shots due to a combination of poor light, moving subjects and the fact that my autofocus kept on focusing on the tanks' glass as opposed to what were actually in the tanks. This was the only half decent one, but the high ISO and JPEG compression has led to quite a lot of artifacts that I'm not happy with.

I had a similar experience when visiting the London Aquarium last year. In the end I converted a couple I liked into arty-farty black and white versions as I thought they looked better that way.

Finally managed to get out with the camera and get a decent set of shots again - made it to the mountains for some good hikes the previous two Saturdays.
