Same! Well, without the chant but it was always "it's takeaway and Expanse day" even though we delayed till this evening this week as we wanted a day where we weren't quite so knackered out by the kids as we have been on other nights

Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed this season, even moreso because I waited until it was done to binge it this weekend. The only thing I didn't like about the series was Philip's mammy and daddy issues - terrible, yawnsome sideplot.

 

@JohnC Your thread title is a spoiler - having read the thread title I knew before seeing any of this latest season that Amos doesn't die.

Veering away from science, one thing I liked about this season was Drummer. I didn't really get on with her character in previous seasons (apart from that time she and Ashford were trapped together), but I thought she was great this season. They really limited Holden's screen time this season, he was barely in it! :lol:

 

Shame Cas Anvar turned out to be a sexual harasser, always liked Alex Kamal in this, but the showrunmers had no choice there.

I was binging this all week after ignoring it. Always found the 1st ep really hard to get into so I just let it all run in the background.

 

Just finished season 5 and feel like it’s just getting warmed up!

 

Fav character...most likely Amos. Dude is fucked up. His greatest moment has to be “you’re not the guy”. I knew what was coming and the scene finished exactly how I expected and wanted! Love the characters in this show. They’re all very consistent!

Don't see why, the production dealt with it well, as far as I can tell?  it doesn't seem to have dampened fan's enthusiasm for the show and general viewers won't have any idea.

I think there will be a film or two. The last book isn’t out yet (think it’s due October). 
 

Otherwise if you take it on the book content then the end of book 6 is a reasonable enough place to stop as long as they ignore everything that happens in the last 3 and just say “and they all lived happily ever after” The End. 

 

I’m torn on this series. I mean it’s still great because it’s the expanse. But this is the first one that felt like a letdown compared to the books. There are so few TV shows that come along and do more than justice to the source material, and this was one, for 4 series. 
 

I think they must have gutted Alex and Bobbie’s Martian adventures and backfilled with sad Naomi. Alex had to go, and Bull should be a good stand in if that’s how they go. 

Interested to see how they handle series 6.

This was the first series that I didn't think improved and I think it's the new material that's letting it down. 

 

I was reading that the earth politics stuff was all re-shoots which would make sense in terms of backfilling. I kind of wished they didn't gut his screen time.  Maybe one of those Disney style warnings of 'this guy is a douche'  then they end it the same way. 

 

But, I don't know, maybe the storylines would have came off as particularly tasteless given the circumstances.

I don't know if I buy the idea that they ripped all his scenes out. Holden is pretty equally sidelined this season, as is Bobby. I doubt they pulled out all the Bobby scenes (and minimised her character) because Cas was in them, that seems like a weird strategy given the nature of the allegations. Who knows.

Yeah, I think the same - he featured early in the season, but by episode 5ish Alex and Bobbi had caught up with Holden, and there wasn't much Mars detective work left to do.

 

There might have been a few more scenes of them shooting the breeze on the razor back but other than that I'm not sure what we lost.

Just seems like a waste for the overall product but kudos to Amazon for taking it seriously and doing the right thing. 

 

Alcon Entertainment own and produce it. Amazon just publish, so they don't really have anything to do with doing the right thing. :)

Yeah I watched all of the season 5 after show vids. Ty and guy is awesome!

I don’t think stopping at season 6 and then doing movies is a good move both artistically and financially given the state of the cinema industry as well as general history of book to movie projects.

 

Plus movies based on TV shows rarely work?
