I still think the first is my favourite so far. one of the things I really love about this show is how “real” it is. I don’t know if that’s the best way to describe it, but everything in Star Trek is always so pristine sometimes it’s too obvious it’s a set. This looks real, and grounded, and grubby most of the time. Like I said, hard to describe. I like the contrast between the cleanliness of Earth and grotty well used look of the Belter places. It plays into the narrative that Belters waste nothing and repurpose all their junk. Whereas on Earth they live a decadent wasteful lifestyle. In real life we've certainly chucked out our chintz and have started to look a bit more Star Trek TNG. (Except maybe those 'love, laugh, live' decor types)
Vemsie
Latest episode is predictably excellent. Highlight: Spoiler Clarissa Mao going full E.Honda on a suvivalist.
PK
The guy playing Marco is fucking fantastic. I constantly want to reach into the TV and give him a slap. Episode 6: Spoiler Amos' reaction to "Nice coat" was such a great little moment. Great episode, love how expertly they're juggling all the separate stories. I'm a bit confused about how a shockwave that can completely destroy the prison building hasn't knocked down any trees in the nearby forest though! Also - fuck me, Wes Chatham is hench!

(Except maybe those 'love, laugh, live' decor types) One thing I really loved from this season was Baltimore being essentially 21st Century buildings with bits of future tech bolted onto them. It makes perfect sense that the future would leave impoverished areas behind like that, it's not going to be all massive white Megablocks. I'm sure the series' budget came into consideration when deciding on that approach, but it still works really well as a world-building piece.
Benny
Spoiler That bit where the Belter ship was docking I was all like, better watch out for Gunny, she's absolutely gonna have brought her mech suit! I was not disappointed
Harsin
Little detail from the intro. It won't mean anything without context and the show is unlikely to cover it since it's ending after the next series, but I've put it in spoiler tags to be safe. MardiganX
That final moment Spoiler Amos character is just fucking incredible and so great because everything is so subtle. That realisation that his moral compass, his guide between where the line should be drawn, is starting to slip is just brilliant.
Nick
This show really has benefited from starting life as a series of books, having the authors steering how they transition to the screen and some brilliant actors slipping into the characters so well. They have built what feels like a very real world and the characters end up acting in what feels like a very believable way. So many little touches where you haven’t had a third party dumb it down for the TV audience and telegraph everything blatantly. Plus Amos and Peaches.
Sponge
There's some really subtle but really nice zero g effects that could easily go unnoticed. The reporter woman on the floor (early episode of this season) holds her hands up and her upper body just stays where it is (leaning back) in a way that either requires some significant upper body strength or a wire of some sort. Pretty sure a similar thing was used for Inaros walking up the steps (with mag-boots) to his bridge this week, it just looked like body weighed nothing, it didn't bob with the steps. Sponge
Having said that the way his hair doesn't float around but stays nicely styled detracts from those nice touches!

Benny
Spoiler Marco is a really good villain for this series. Because, like Magneto or someone, you can understand what he's trying to do. He's evil, but you can understand the reasons for the character's motivations and the radicalisation of his followers.
Captain Kelsten
Cara Gee is so unlike Drummer it’s actually quite a shock. It’s like when you hear Stephanie Beatriz speak and you realise she’s nothing like Rosa in Brooklyn 99.

Jg15
So I have come back to this having watched the first season years ago on Netflix, discovering it was based on a book series and started reading those instead (and stopped watching the series because spoilers) only to find the later books bored me. Anyway great stuff, just binged the first season in 4K on Amazon and onto the second series which I haven't watched before. Looking forward to catching up with rest of it, its already diverged somewhat from the books at least.
lolly
Just watched latest season episode 2. Two very quick observations, it was pretty affecting regarding a certain character's youth and Avasarala is (still)a badass.

Vemsie
New episode is excellent. Great character work (Dominique Tipper has grown so much as an actress) and one hell of an ending.
MardiganX
Every episode this season is achieving something very few shows deliver at this stage in their lifecycle. A pay-off for the slow burn, deep story elements that are starting to come to a head while also nailing the more immediate exciting and emotional moments. That was fantastic! Benny
It's the Babylon 5 effect. This week's was very sedate, in the way that they know they can be at this point as we're already here for the character drama.
