PlayStation VR

Just stumbled across this article published yesterday...

https://uploadvr.com/new-psvr-controllers-patent-index/

Obviously patent filing is filled with missteps and things that never come to pass, however with it using the Quest style inside-out tracking and 6DOF it could explain the lack of PS5 camera support for the original PSVR light system. Could be nothing, could be something...

It also referenced this research video from May that I hadn't seen before (apologies if already posted)...

Can anyone comment on the value of going up to a Pro console purely for VR, is the increase in clarity worth the upgrade?

I don't have a 4K TV, I am really enjoying Moss and a few other VR games, but it's so pixellated and blurry. The other option is to save the money and possibly get a Quest 2 in the future, but I don't really want to have more toys.

Eeehh, it's subjective. But now, with the PS5 around the corner? No. You're better off saving for a PS5.

Played Star Trek Bridge Crew for the first time last night. My word. That's a lot of fun.

Really Wana play more of this but getting three friends together, with the game and vr headsets all at the same time is a challenge.

One of the early missions was fantastic, we had to survive for a set time I think and was getting absolutely destroyed. We had limited Health left But then we’d survived long enough that we could now warp out of there. We started the charge and had the ten second countdown as we all had to perfectly move in sync to survive only to have one blast destroy us 2 seconds before I’d have hit the warp button. Was super exhilarating!

That was very entertaining, looks like a great social game.

Has anyone else had the textured coating over the foam on the back of the headset come off? I noticed it starting a while ago, and thought it was due to the way I had been storing the headset (hanging on one of the arms of an electronic drum kit frame) but I recently noticed there are another couple of bald patches. They would seem to match up with where my fingers grab the band when I’m taking it off. That’s a bit shit.

It wouldn’t bother me so much but I sometimes find little black flakes on my head after a session, lol

Finally got around to trying Minecraft VR, it's pretty damn good. Fully featured gameplay, seemingly very minimal compromises. I mean, as you would hopefully expect, but Minecraft hasn't exactly been a technical exemplar in the past. When I first booted it up I thought it was an epic troll as it is just you sitting motionless in an armchair playing minecraft on an in game TV screen, pretty funny. You can jump 'into' the screen by shifting perspective. Cool to be 'inside' your Minecraft world.

Playing through Squadrons and really regretting selling my PSVR now. The whole thing looks geared up for it.

Like Polybius, it’s an average game that would turn into an extraordinary game in VR.

If it helps at all, Squadrons in VR has made me feel more sick than any other VR game, ever.  I've only ever struggled with one other VR game, but this one just ruins me.
