I have my son half the week and he wants VR for Christmas. My idea was to buy him it for his room and  bring it downstairs when he's at his mothers.

Is this going to be a fuck on? My PS4 is currently plugged into a Denon amp.

Are Move controllers essential or can I get by with the dualshock? Intend to play REVII, Skyrim, Thumper, Rez and Rigs. Oh and VR Worlds, I guess.

I just read that there aren't built in headphones. How does that work then? The sound comes out of my TV a couple of metres in front of me?

 

Can I at least plug in earphones or something?

Are these the v1 headsets still with the breakout box that won’t pass HDR?

 

Also, that shop to deal with the move controllers sounds great but I can’t find it either.

The V2 breakout box is a pretty big deal if you own an HDR TV if you ask me. I have both a V1 and HDR TV and I definitely don't play it as much as I would if I didn't need to cable swap. If it was released back in the time of wired controllers, scart switch boxes and non digital get off your arse to change the disc games then I could see it not being that big of a deal but along with the worry of harming the hdmi socket I've just become accustomed to gaming from the couch. Everything is a button press whilst on the settee. I'm the least lazy of people but it's just how the pass-time has progressed, it was always heading for ease of use becoming the way to consume gaming as to me it's something I do to chill. Getting up and yanking out cables takes that a step back and it's a step I'm hesitant to fully embrace. Don't get me wrong I love my PSVR but as a 2016 gaming product it was a fucking stupid oversight.

yes - remember to plug them into the VR output and not your controller output otherwise you won't get the full surround sound.

If I don't have HDR capabilities and am unlikely to in the near future (Very happy with my current display device) waiting around for the V2 headset is pretty pointless yes? The current deal is incredibly tempting.

I would say definitely, assuming that this isn't going to be a new price point going forwards, you are saving in the region of £150. The deal really is incredible.

For those who also want the moves, Game (yes I know!!) are doing the deal with the 2 moves for £299 which is the cheapest option around that I have seen.

I'd imagine that this will be the new price point as several places have this deal up and running. Going back to £399 with no game would be ridiculous.
