Superhot, despite being outstanding is £20 and once you finish it (2 hours) you don't go back, it's too much hassle to clear the space.

I found Superhot to be far more enjoyable once you'd finished the campaign.  The free play score challenge mode (or whatever it's called) is AMAZING, and far more playable than the story mode bit.

PSVR has been everything I wanted it to be. I'm not interested in playing VR games for hours on end, and the best experiences are short and replayable. I'm not playing VR every day or even every week, but I enjoy it as much as the first time I played and I rarely play for longer than an hour. I very much prefer seated experiences than all of this room-scale and moving around nonsense.

The best games for me have been Tumble VR, REZ, Superhypercube, Polybius and Thumper. Even now I keep chipping away at these games and have just got to the last set of puzzles in Tumble and reaching Stage 4, after months of practice, on Superhypercube. I've recently added Battlezone into the mix for short 2-3 level sessions.

I don't particularly find it anymore of a hassle to setup than say, Rock Band - the cables and breakout unit are already hooked up neatly under the television and its just a case of taking the headset out of the box.

Does anyone else get drifting issues with their unit? My unit seems to drift to the left so I end up playing over my shoulder?

Are you updated to the latest version of VR firmware? This used to be an issue but I believe it should be fixed although I seem to still get similar issues.

Mine drifted like crazy to the left yesterday. Played a bit of GT and then RIGS, armed to change about 90 degrees after 20 minutes or so in RIGS.

It was quite dark in the room though, sleeping 14 month old on the sofa next to me, maybe it's that. I've heard yellow light makes it better, that's probably bollocks though.

I find there seems to be a real lack of reviews from the bigger sites and publications when it comes to VR, almost to the point that they seem to be ignoring it. I'm trying to get reviews on the Solus Project for example but it mostly seems to be youtubers or the very specific VR sites who I'm not convinced are particularly impartial.

the PS4 isn't allowed to run ED well in VR, because for the longest while it was the game boners used to beat ps4 owners over the head with.

You know, when it was exclusive... :coffee:

This makes no sense.  Not allowed by who?

So just finally got round to playing RIGS. Have to say it really does look fantastic and obviously a lot of work has been put into it, but my goodness is it punishing. I've tried the offline modes and been absolutely trounced in all three of the matches I have played. My team just seems so under powered and I seem to keep getting two shotted by all big mechs on the other side who have much better pilots and rigs than the ones I can afford to hire.

Not sure will check when I next turn it on, I forget but how can I run the initial configuration again to maybe reset the tracking?

If you hold down the PS button on the pad when PSVR is connected you can get to the config menu the short way.

I had the same experience, it seemed ridiculously overwhelming and I nearly gave up, but all of a sudden it clicked.

Stay high and keep moving. Use your head for looking and the pad for turning, this can cause nausea in some people, but you get a much better understanding of where everyone is around you. Don't forget to use the power modes wisely and pick a Rig with the vampire ability to begin with, you're Rig's shields will regenerate every time you get a kill.

I absolutely love it now.

I've set turning to the stick from the start, so good there, and I went for the Vampire abilities mech although I went for the fast one but at that point I didn't really understand the differences.

The issue now is I don't have the money to buy the more powerful tank like ones. Out of interest what would you say was the best type to go with from the off?

Has anybody tried megaton rainfall or raw data yet? They both have my interest but there’s very little in the way of reviews so far.

Megaton Rainfall is £12.99, and I'm reviewing it on that basis - it costs the price of 1.5 burgers in a Wetherspoons.

I have a bugbear with PSVR in that there are so many "VR Experiences" that are free or 99p on Steam, and yet on PSVR you pay £16 for something like Batman, which is very good, but it's 45 minutes long.  This winds me up.

Anyway, I bought Megaton Rainfall as the video on the previous screen convinced me.  It's a funny one - I should start off by saying that this is going to be a recommendation - I really like it, it's very cheap, and you should get it.

Now, onto my review:

It's an odd game - you play the part of a flying superhero.  You start off with a tutorial that seems designed to help you understand the controls, but the game has multiple sickness-minimising options in the setup and they are all turned on by default - and it's very confusing to play with them turned on.  You turn your head towards the thing you want to head towards and shoot, but when it goes off-screen you have to use the right stick to rotate.  This is set to a 45 degree step, similar to Resident Evil 7.  It's strange because I can't play R7 with the smooth movement, it makes me want to be sick, and Megaton is the exact opposite.  The staggered movement I have to have to play R7 ruins Megaton because it's really hard to follow what you're supposed to be doing when the steps in movement are so big.  Also, you fly smoothly, yet when you change direction you get black borders all over the place to prevent you feeling ill.  I started the game thinking, what an uncontrolable crock this game is.

Then, when you get into the game proper, you can turn all this stuff on or off, and I found that turning all the protective things off, and also turning off camera shake, gives you a really smooth and fluid sense of motion.  You'd think it would make you want to vomit, but it doesn't.  Before long, you find yourself zooming from one thing to another, destroying stuff, watching buildings explode, and loving it. It surprises me that the smooth movement makes me vomit in Resi7 yet in this game you need it smooth, it works, you go flying all over the place and it's wonderful, with no nausea at all.

I compare it to EDF, the best game ever made, in that you fly around like a wing diver in first person perspective, watching buildings explode, hearing people screaming from below, you shoot everything that moves.  It's great!

It's got the feeling of Outrun2, Hydro Thunder etc, where you might only play it for 10 minutes at a time, but it puts a massive smile on your face.  It's perfectly priced at £12.99, and I recommend it a lot.

Thanks for that review, how long have you played it for @dumpster? You are right and it is really cheap, if it wasn't for the fact that I refuse to put my CC details into PSN and have to go the roundabout (although admittedly cheaper) route of buying points on CDkeys I'd have bought it by now.

I gave it an hour, and once the tutorial was out of the way I really really enjoyed it.  I would have played it longer, but it took a while to download and I remembered I'd bought Rondo Rush of Blood and not tried it, so I ended up giving that about 45 minutes before playing Megaton Rainfall so my head was a bit VR-fried before I began.

Sorry I've forgotten the names, but either the tall double jumping one, or the small fast one. I've never found the tank to be to worth the money, it's too slow. Ideal for defense, but not attack.

The most important things to consider when buying a Rig are it's weapon types, whatever suits your style, and perks. Due to incompetence I think I played the first half of the season with the original training Rig and was managing ok. Keep moving and be aggressive and when up close do a ram to quickly finish them off. Don't forget power mode when attacking, you do far more damage.

I must just be really awful then as I've got the fast one with vampire but I just keep getting killed really really quickly by anything else, especially the big tank like opponents. They basically hit me with their rocket attack, then their secondary and I'm dead even if I've seen them first and started firing first with damage mode on.
