Are the earphones moulded into the design? If so, that's a significant step back.

I'm happy enough being an early adopter - the HDR issue is of no concern to me, and the benefit and joy of being there from day one was too much of a draw.

Not making the cables compatibile though is pretty daft. I'm sure there will be some cost efficiency elsewhere in the new unit too - perhaps cheaper lenses or screens.

I can understand why people are annoyed, but this was always a risk of being an early adopter and at least the new one goes some way to directly address some of the issues with the original set and let's be honest, it's just some wiring changes. Quality of life change, but not life changing. Updates to the capability would definitely warrant a sterner reaction.

It's also a good sign that Sony will be keeping support for VR going for the foreseeable - there is a perception that Sony will do a Vita with it, but I just don't see it and think it will tick along nicely alongside the life-cycle of the PS4.

It’s the update to capability that people are complaining about.

it should have had HDR support from the start.

This is true and failing that an updated breakout box instead. To update it and leave it incompatible with first generation headsets defies belief. Fuck you Sony.

Vita had an "upgrade" too.

What are the upcoming Sony funded games for psvr?

Gran Turismo and the Supermassive titles are the most prominent, but as at launch I see Sony backing that up with some timed exclusives (Ace Combat, ZOE) and a host of other VR experiences.

The Vita revision felt like a last gasp, whereas this very much seems like a cost cutting revision to start hitting a lower price point. Things are still remarkably early for PSVR and I'd say the support so far has been solid and steady. If it continues like this then I'll be more than happy.

I think I'll almost certainly upgrade to this and sell the old one . Lead swapping it what stop me using it as much as I would

maybe get it sold before the new one is released. Price might drop through the floor, if the 2.0 has a massive cost-saving

The old and new photos up this page could suggest the camera is with the new headset, couldn't they?  Just trying to figure out if I need to keep the camera or sell it with the headset. I'm also keen to 'upgrade' for the hassle-free HDR.

The HDR issue is a fucking massive ball-ache for me. I love me some HDR, really makes games like Horizon and Mass Effect pop. But no way am I buying a new PSVR for something they should have had the fucking sense to include from the off, it was only launched last year and HDR was already a thing. Maybe if I wasn't needing a Switch for Mario and a ONE X for err...reasons. Can't take the hit on my PSVR. Why oh why they haven't designed it with an upgrade option for V1 users is fucking incredible. Luckily I've recently moved and the back of my TV is a lot more accessible than before or I'd be absolutely livid. Livid.

For shame Sony.

If you've got spare inputs you could do what I have.

I've got a short HDMI extender connected to the PS4 Pro with two HDMI's that plug into that depending on if I'm using the PSVR or not.

I have one HDMI that goes straight from the PS4 to the AV receiver for HDR gaming and one goes into the PSVR box which in turn goes into a different input on the AV receiver.

Therefor, I just have to plug whichever HDMI cable required into the extender and select the correct input (via a voice command thanks to Alexa, Harmony & Yonomi.)

Even that can put me off playing the PSVR though, lol.

I did research remote controlled HDMI switches, but a HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compatible one was hard to find and the ones I did were too pricey to experiment with.

Has their been any indicating that the new box will give VR a wee boost at all?

I'm looking to get one at some point but if the new model is essentially the same as the older model bar the redesign the old one should drop in price a bit so stock can be shifted and might just get that one.

No benefit to improving games as far as I can see. But if you have a HDR TV or are thinking of getting one in the not too distant then wait for V2. If you're not interested in HDR (it's bloody lovely btw) then get V1 and hopefully a bargain.
