Finally got my PSVR back, and I'm really glad I did choose to return it last November because this one appears to be flawless (first one had a huge cluster of stuck pixels at the bottom and a single stuck pixel right in the middle of my view, plus intermittent loss of sound or video). I did have one scary moment where the headphones cut to one ear only so I thought it was going to repeat the blackout problem, but it didnt.

To avoid faff and minimise marital disruption I have it set up in my mancave, where there is only really room for seated games. The only thing I have bought so far is Rez Infinite, and I am considering Polybius (which I believe also can be played without excessive movement).

Are there any other notable titles that can be/are better played seated? I am not going to completely ignore standing titles but playing them means moving everything to the front room which won't be done often.

EVE Valkyrie is perfect for seated play (uses the DualShock not move controllers).
Resi is a must.
Star Trek Bridge Crew (uses moves but obviously you're just sat at a station) - Utterly essential if you have anyone to play with, pointless solo sadly.

I took the plunge on Archangel and I'm pretty glad I did. It reeks of high quality production. I've only played the first level but it was quite brilliant. Absolutely the most beautiful non-abstract vr game I've ever played. Tracking was spot on too... uncanny vr characters in the cut scenes too, with decent acting and real presence.

You literally can't stand up or you can't play games you need to actually move about a bit for?

Might get Superhot too. Are people still waiting for the PRO patch?

The Superhot Pro patch is out but although I've yet to try it, apparently it's done nothing visually!

Doesn't matter anyway, game is fantastic regardless.

Well I'm feeling all warm inside and in the mood for some good VR action. It's coming down the pipe.

Spent a fucking fortune on PSN this week, but up to know only played WRC 4 on Vita. Damn sales.

Standing up puts my head out of the camera play area. It's a very small mancave.

That's a fuckin set up, big chap. Slàinte!

WOW!!! Fucking not wrong. I'm flying. Lawnmower man shit right here. Fuelled by ancient nectar and herbs mixed with a little Jeff Minter and crazy tech, it's a fine night. I don't think I've fully appreciated where we are right now until tonight. I mean I bought the first fucking Edge. Dreamt of all this crazy shit for years and BAM! now it's here. Mixed with my old naughty habits it's phenomenal.

Thumper next.

P.S I know you like your Scotch lad. It's fucking glorious.

My wife wants to try it out after the kids go to sleep. What's best to show her? I figure Ocean Descent (the demo only) and possibly job simulator, but when I tried the latter the Move controller tracking got really glitchy - I couldn't reach under the desk to turn on the PC without the virtual hand ghosting out and disappearing off screen. Likewise I couldn't track the mouse. I don't want to show her anything that isn't going to work properly.

Maybe Rez Area X on travelling mode?

For Job Simulator there is a setup process before you run the demo which set the controllers to work fine, make sure you run that for her.

I went through the calibration process before I tried it myself, and it didn't work then so I just left that one alone.

She freaked out in the first 5 seconds of ocean descent and tried to rip off the headset - I had to hold her hand to get her to keep watching! She said it was stressful as she can't swim, heh.

Then I let her watch Allumette, it was cool to see her reach out and try to touch the characters. She didn't seem to catch on that you can move around a bit to change your view, so I gave her a couple of helpful nudges.

After that I selfishly asked for her help in clearing the Playroom VR minigames, which get brutally hard and I might have worn her patience a little thin. It was good that some of those games only required her to help verbally though.

Just got around to playing Tethered properly after buying it in the previous sale. My word that game is quite hard isn't it? The levels take 30-50 mins and I dunno if it's just me but I start to get bored and restless before a level ends, especially if it all goes to pot after 25 mins. Very frustrating. It's certainly not as simple as the demo makes it to be. It's hard to keep a track of what tasks peeps are doing, especially during and after a round of enemies. Levels require a lot planning and resource managing, it's crazy how deep it gets.
I might try playing in none VR mode later and see if that alleviates the restlessness I'm feeling but I think it'll lose the feeling of being a God sat up in the clouds ordering these little shits about, that's one thing the game does really well is the feeling of presence. If you play with move controllers you can use them to spin and zoom in real close to the action, it's really ace how wonderful and beautiful the worlds look. I just need to git gud as they say

That was probably one of the best evenings of multiplayer gaming I've had since Super Monkey Ball.

The game was Playroom VR, which I really didn't expect much from but turned out to be really great. My wife and 5yo daughter were helping me, and as some of the games only require them to help by shouting instructions it was easily accessible for everyone. The cat and mouse hiding game was perfectly pitched for my 5yo. Simple is best as they say.

My favourite was probably Toy Wars though, the feeling of panic as all those giant block monsters started to tower above my head only for my wife to appear like Gandalf at Helm's Deep and save the day at the last second, lol. I think everyone in the room cheered when we cleared it.

(interesting to think I had reservations about VR because of how antisocial it would be)
