I was thinking while playing Rain of Blood - you know what I reckon would be amazeballs if they could pull it off?  Updating Until Dawn to work with VR.  I mean, the environment is pretty nice and would be great to just explore, and the game for the most part is pretty slow paced so control wise should be easy enough to convert.  Making choices in the game often was using the stick to make your character look at one thing or another, which translates easily enough to just actually looking at what you want to.  But here's the best bit, or at least the thing I reckon would translate the best - the "dont move" sections.  Imagine that, but instead of just your controller, you cant move your head either.  Imagine (spoilers for the end scene)

the part in the house where you're trying to stay still so the monsters cant tell you're there, but they're moving around you, often just in your peripheral vision....or right next to your side, but you have to look dead straight foward and not let them distract you.

.

In my head it would work really well, and while I dont think that it'll get updated, I hope the developers did well enough with Rain Of Blood that if they ever do a follow up to Until Dawn, they at least have some VR parts or bonus modes.

My brother should be getting one of these shortly after xmas when stock is refreshed and I'd like to get him a game as a present.

So, with the knowledge that he is 18, never tried VR before, not a horror movie fan at all, and already owns Batman VR in anticipation, what game should I get him? I know Rez is the best reviewed, but I'd like to get him something I can wrap up, and I'm not sure he would 'get' it - better I buy that one for me when I eventually get to borrow the headset. VR worlds looks good but is something like Battlezone better? Any help appreciated.

not at full RRP, no. I mean, I'd take Rigs over battlezone.

VR worlds offers different experiences, but Tumble VR is great, sedate gaming, if you have a move controller.

I expect more than a few people to say Thumper.

I think Battlezone would be a good choice, especially as the disc version seems to be discounted in many places now (over here in NL you can get it for about 40eu instead of the launch pricing of 60eu). It's a really pretty game, it's amazing fun to play and it works very well in VR. I think it's being overlooked or underappreciated at any rate.

because of the price, or because slidey-tank-action?

Yeah I tried Tethered.

It could do with a little super sampling but the image quality was quite lovely overall but I just found the gameplay boring.

Ive come to realise I just don't really like games that have you aiming with your head. I find it a pain in the arse and would much rather use my arms and then free up my head for looking around.

Has something controversial happened with PSVR in Japan? It went from being out of stock at launch, to being completely removed from point of sale. Right now if you go into any major electronics shop you will find no evidence that the PSVR even exists. PS4 Pro stuff is everywhere, but there are no display/catalogue items for the headset or the move controllers. Online, shops that have listings for it have them greyed out with the text 'sale cancelled' (or a rough translation thereof).

Even if there were stock shortages you'd think they would want to raise awareness of the existance of these things? I don't get it. It looks like if I ever want a replacement for the dodgy imported on I returned, I will have to import again.

Polish playstation store has 50% off vr games at the mo

How does one go about getting psn credit for the polish store? Or can you use a non-Polish credit card?

Also, I bought Rush of Blood having agonised over it for weeks. I was worried I'd be too chicken to play it, but I am happy to say it falls on the right side of the exciting stress/unpleasant stress line for me , unlike Resident Evil :)

Pretty sure it's just out of stock and the Japanese market is now understandably an afterthought in the world of Playstation.

The game selection on the Japanese psn is also terrible compared to the west.

Anyway to access this using my UK account or would you need to create a Polish account and then purchase and play via that account?

You have to create a Polish account unfortunately, but it should be fairly easy to do this through Google Translate. I've not tried so not sure - just saw this being mentioned on Reddit.

Just got hold of How They Soar. It's massively disappointing.

It looks absolutely incredible and it has some interesting gameplay mechanics (the paper world unfolds around you as you fly through pilotwings-styled rings and collect orbs) but the controls are appalling bad. Your bird is incredibly sluggish and is a real big to control, which makes the chase sequences an absolute chore to complete. It doesn't feel like a VR game either and feels like a quick port.

Eagle Flight highlights just how fun flight can be in VR, while the likes of Star Wars VR and Eve Valkyrie show how to handle objects you control with a stick.

Yes it's only £15 and yes it's stupidly pretty but it's not enough. A very average experience that already feels outdated after playing Eagle Flight.
