DriveClub VR is my most played PSVR game. Beyond the awful visuals it combines incredible immersion and a solid driving model. I love cars and the sensation of being in something like a Koenigsegg is unsurpassed.

I just don't get the graphics though. Why are they that bad? No one expects PS4 quality but its a hell of a downgrade.

Well if you think about it the games having to push out probably 3 times what a normal driving game would so compromises would have to be made somewhere. I've said it before, but I can forgive DC any of it's graphical qualities for the immersion you get of driving a car round a track. For that it's utterly superb and my go to VR game.

Probably because it was a rushed botch job by a team not involved in the original game who got a truckload of assets and a 'good luck' letter and had to build something out of it.

I think the PSVR struggles with objects in the distance and because you are constantly looking at objects in the distance (not just cars but stuff  on the horizon in general) you always notice the image quality.

The most impressive graphics for me are the big in-your-face stuff like some scenes in Arkham and London Heist.

There's an outdoors bit in the Resi Demo that I thought looked pretty amazing.  To be fair, the entire demo does.  While you notice the jaggy edges on some of the objects, the place still looks (and feels) incredibly well done.  Batman is still the most impressive game graphically for me though, it just has so much detail in there.

As for driveclub, I'd guess all the downgrades are to ensure a rock solid frame rate, which is more important for the immersion factor than graphical fidelity.  And working with a pre built game not designed for VR.  I'd guess someone is going to come along and do a VR driving game from scratch at some point that will look better.

Yeah, all the toys in Playroom, the little model of the mech in Rigs on the table and any detail up close looks amazingly real.- Luminette

Someone should do a game where you have to deal with the macro and really look at closely/around stuff as well as the big environments they are doing.

Anyone having the odd sound or picture loss every now and again for a couple of seconds?

I did from the beginning, I only owned a PSVR for one week with a regular PS4 and it happened at least once per day. I ended up sending it back (for that plus the dead pixels) for a refund - no stock meant no exchange.

At the time I could only find a couple of other cases on the web, one of which was apparently solved by switching HDMI cables.

If the picture dropped it would often come back, but then the sound would go and that would be it until I rebooted. It screwed up too many games of Rez for me to be able to tolerate, as I would have to exit the game to get back into VR mode.

I see Crystal Rift is up, which looks a bit like a VR style Eye of the Beholder/Dungeon Master dungeon crawler. Anybody tried it yet?

Nope but that's more my sort of game so will be getting it when I get home :) If no one has commented by then I'll put something up ^_^

It seems to be pretty basic and it's getting some less than stellar reviews though. Apparently a bit of a bedroom coder project. They should bring Legend of Grimrock to PS VR :)

Yeah the reviews are looking basic. But as it's a first of its kind on the PSVR I don't have much choice if I want something in this mold:D

I'm gonna see how it goes. I put my PS4 PRO in rest mode so I don't know whether that has an effect as it only happens occasionally. It's exactly as you describe though. Would eventually cut out completely until a headset reset.

Will keep an eye on it anyway

It looks clunky but decent. I`ll buy that and give it a try

Does anybody else ever have issues with the lenses steaming up very frequently.  Most of the time my headset seems fine but there are days where I'm reaching for the lens cloth every couple of minutes.  A body heat issue maybe I suppose?

I do every now and again I will admit. But generally my house is quite cold. Thus the glass is cold. So when I breath, the warm air coming from me goes straight up and onto the lenses ^_^ Sometimes I manage to get away with it by just blowing air onto the lenses for a short while first just to warm up the glass (so it's a bit more inkeeping with me) it doesn't steam up quite so much then, might be worth you giving it a go.

I was sent a code for Time MAchine VR yesterday so gave that a try. I like the 3D effect and it's fun scanning the different underwater monsters, but so far there doesn't feel enough to justify the £24 price point. Will stick at it though as I'm finding it quite interesting.

Also worked out how to get into the basement of Resident Evil VII. Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. It's terrifying, absolutely terrifying.

Is the Resi VR demo scarier than Rush of Blood? I've just queued it for download so I can have a go tonight. Already nervous.

Hmm. It's a different type of scary really, as there are less jump scares (although they're undeniably effective when they appear). It's more about piling on huge amounts of tension and placing you in an incredibly real, incredibly unpleasent situation. Anything could jump around any corner (so you'll be sticking your head around every door frame you come across). It's like being in Blair Witch Project the movie.

Received a review code for Crystal Rift as we'll be covering it in Retro Gamer. I'm enjoying it, but it seems quite basic so far. Only too different enemies in the first four levels and the maps seem relatively straight forward. Annoyingly, there appears to be no map option, which is a little annoying as you can't easily map on graph paper when you have a great big headset on. The atmosphere is solid and there's a lot of varying options for movement, too. It's hard to argue with £7.99 and it scratches that beholder itch, but it's so far not a patch on the excellent Grimrock games.

Anyone able to advise, how do you get to the outside part in the Resi7 demo that was mentioned earlier?  Cheers!

And another vote for Driveclub.  Ignore the demo, and ignore the reviews.  Play it in VR with a decent wheel and it's glorious. Best thing on VR at the moment.

Think it was in reference to when you are outside the house at the start of the video playback.
