You could say the same about Call of Duty: you just run forward and hold the fire button down occasionally. I think in the gaming medium these days, especially now with the advent of VR, that looking for traditional mechanics is looking into the past, as the experience itself as a whole needs to be taken on its overall merits. I mean Journey is incredible, and this is a lot like that. Plus it's only a tenner.

For what it's worth, I've played Bound extensively, and I completely disagree with dumpster. Bound is a lovely little experience and has a unique art style. Also, the thing I've found with VR titles is that even the weakest game mechanics can still feel like entirely different experiences in VR. So in the case of Bound, so what if it would have been a relatively underwhelming title in any other context? The point is, it has VR support, people have bought it because of that, and the experience they are going to get in VR is completely different and actually quite exciting. There were moments in it I was awestruck, which were only possible because of the medium of delivery.

@strider Nup. No trench run.  It's a mission that ties into Rogue One's canon.

The dude from Criterion did allude to there being more on the way.

Wouldn't expect the gameplay to be more than just a glorified demo, however from what I just watched it looks like there's a load of awesome fan service in there.

Cant wait to experience it for real*

*virtually.

I just seen him walking around it in the docking bay and playing around with buttons in the interior. Looks very interactive and faithful to the movies. I just hope there is decent game in there and it's not 2 min long

I'm expecting another 15-20 minute "experience"... anything more will be a bonus, anything less a disappointment.

20 min would be great, I'm expecting a lot less. Something like the speeder bike section in the single player. Hope I'm wrong.

Sony must have paid them a fortune to develop this.

Think your expectations are about right. It was the same team (Criterion) that made the speederbike mission. (Which I'd kill for in VR!)

Considering it's free, I think what's in  there is pretty generous. I'd be happy with just being able to have a look around the ship to be honest.

Undoubtedly it will pave the way for a full length one unless it totally sucks.

Those guys talking over the video about his uncle blah blah blah. Shut it and let me watch!

As I said I have a feeling Sony have lined the pockets of lots of these early developers. Going solo I worry how much profitability is in it for developers given a VR title can barely scratch the top 40 sales charts. Sony really need to get more units out there and let people buy them, to miss out on Christmas would be madness, loads of people on my Facebook are asking where they can get them and that is unheard of on my feed for a game s related product.

Agreed, feels like sony are dropping the ball a little, but i can understand why they'd be cautious.  It is a concern re games getting developed, for vr in general.  The dev guy on stream was massively positive about vr though, unsurprisingly.

The strategy should have allowed for increased production for Christmas if initial launch was a success, which I think undoubtedly it has been

Hopefully the positive word of mouth will carry past Xmas . Plus i can imagine the xwing demo may wow anyone who tries it.

Another positive from that stream was the Criterion  guy saying that Frostbite ran really well with PSVR.

Demo pods in shopping centres over Christmas would surely generate a lot of buzz, especially if it was Star Wars centric. Get them in cinemas as well, punters going to rogue one. Of course none of that will happen

Really only got it for this.

Still doesn't appear to be on the UK store :(

I'm playing on the Rift, where you purchase/see tables to select in game from the main TV menu.

someone earlier asked if it came with tables: I suspect there's four with it (can't remember now), of which my favourite is the knight one. It helps if you read the table instructions under the help...

I tweeted them earlier and got a message. There was a problem and they hope to have it on the UK store next week

Oh wow, thanks for relaying that. Gives me something to look forward to at least.

Of the three so far I think the underwater one is my favourite table - but very tempted to buy the £19.99 pack. The Knight one with all the fighting and XP felt a bit much.
