Highly annoyingly, my PlayStation VR broke down the other day :(

Was watching Netflix on PS4 when the image cut out. Checked all the cables and connections, turned out it worked when hooking up the PS4 directly to the TV.

PS VR's processor unit's indicator kept flashing white, meaning it was booting - but it never stopped. Tried it again the next day, worked fine for 10 minutes, then broke down again and the indicator was just dead...

Contacted PlayStation support and sent it back last Wednesday, should get it back within '15 working days'. Contacted PlayStation PR as well for a reply - may write something about this.

Anyone else had something like this?

It looks like Game are taking pre-orders for their next delivery of PSVR stock, due at the end of this month, apparently. How likely is it that they'll be able to fulfill any pre-orders made just now in time for Christmas? It's been fucking years since I've given Game any of my business. Reckon I should hold out on stock being replenished elsewhere around the same sort of time? There doesn't seem to be many guarantees of anything in this PSVR hunting game.

Keep an eye on this- http://m.stockinformer.co.uk/checker-playstation-vr

I managed to bag one myself about a week ago. Places are periodically- and randomly- getting stock in. Never in huge quantities but there is a steady enough supply.

Move controllers on the other hand...

That's shit! Why on earth aren't they doing the swap over that they usually do with the PS4? Touch wood, I've been fine but I won't be happy if I have this kind of crap service to contend with.

Yeah I had that day 1 with my unit, thankfully was able to return to another Argos that had a unit in stock.

Cheers, I have actually been trying to keep track there whenever I can. It's actually that site where I found out Game were taking these pre-orders for their stock replen at the end of the month. I guess I'll just have to keep a keener eye on it.

The Move situation is fucking stupid. There are some of the best VR experiences available on the PSVR that require Move to be played properly, and yet they are practically unavailable. I was fortunate that I managed to find one second hand for a reasonable price, but it's absurd that they were less available than the PSVR itself considering how important they are.

I'm not playing with my VR as much as I'd like - I think it's just the rigmarole of putting it on, not being able to have a snack or a drink, etc. Admittedly had a lot of 'normal' games in the backlog, too, so I've been enjoying those.

But even that doesn't make me critical of the thing or question the investment. Because I know that, when the stars align and I do put the thing on my bonce, it'll blow me away all over again.

Well another night of VR, finished the tutorial for Tethered and the first real level. Whilst it's a good game I don't find the theme that appealing.

So I played some Windlands.

It's really not kidding with the VR legs warning. I stepped it up and went full FPS controls not snapped rotation, no 'cage'. The swing mechanic finally clicked and I was traversing the environment with relative ease and speed.

Man is it tough on the stomach though. Enjoyable but I guess falling hundred of feet repeatedly with the occasional bout of masterful high speed swinging will have that effect even not in VR.

It nails the sense of risk of jumping to a ledge and 'just' making it. It is however old school there is little to no hand holding or guidance just swing around and work it out for yourself. Which I appreciate but you can loose your purpose. Definitely returning to it though games like this are the perfect way to get your extreme VR legs and prepare yourself for some high speed fps action in the future.

I desperately need a new VR game though. Tempted by Bound and VR Worlds or maybe Eagle Flight.

Neither am I. After getting a Pro the complete clusterfuck of cable swapping put me off. I've bought HDMI extenders though to save wear and tear on the ports but it's still a shambolic solution.

If you have move controllers definitely get VR Worlds, it's a great selection of games and ideal to show off the system to people.

Does this still allow HDR content to play properly (when not connected to VR)? I too am getting a bit worried about swapping cables.

Yes, I bought HDR compatible HDMI extender cables from Amazon and I can confirm they work. £5ish each.

How does this setup work exactly?

I would think it means you're using them to extend your HDMI cables, therefore you 'only' have to switch cables in the extender sockets and slowly ruin them instead of your TV and console HDMI ports. It will also be easier and quicker to do with them being more accessible.

That is exactly it. It's the only solution I could come up with.

Surely you can get a switch that handles HDR?

Can't be done. I bought a HDR switcher but you still have to faff about with cables. Ultimately PSVR must be connected to your Pro and the fact is it's HDMI 1.4 only.
