I was thinking of getting PSVR for some Christmas family fun, but it seems it's out of stock everywhere until the new year. Is that right? Have I missed my chance?

It's £317 for the headset on Amazon but it's back-order only.

I naively figured I could pick one up from somewhere in December... :(

That isn't possible VR isn't selling well in Denmark and Sony haven't released sales figures so it's clearly a flop.

on a serious note, there are online stock checkers and ShopTo will get you one before Christmas I'm sure.

Don't I can't even imagine anyone not doing that, can you imagine what sort of dead soul you'd need.

@Sprite Machine As mentioned earlier in the thread, keep checking http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/checker-playstation-vr

While in the works bogs yesterday around 4:30, I clocked on there that Currys had got some in stock. I quickly added it to my basket, but then got summoned to a half hour meeting. By the time I was out, they'd sold out. Shoulda feigned constipation and stayed in the bogs a while

There will be more, though. Certainly before Christmas. Surely. Please.

How substantial is the Star Wars VR mission going to be? I have no interest in playing SW Battlefront and would be only buying it for the VR mission; if it's going to be owt like the Call of Duty one then £10 is still far too much and I won't bother. A month of owning VR I'm starting to get a wee bit tired of all the price gouging going on, not necessarily with Star Wars just in general, I mean LOVED the Arkham games but I still feel massively ripped off with Arkham VR

I would suspect more COD VR than anything substantial. 10 minutes of wow.

Also,

I don't know how anyone could feel ripped off by Batman VR, in relative term,. £15 for one of the most one of the most  jaw dropping 2 hours of videogames entertainment is pretty cheap

it's ok, amortise the ArkhamVR cost against all the free stuff.

Aye for free the Call of Duty mission was decent but would you feel the same if it cost £10? I wouldn't and that's why I was asking if the Star Wars one was likely to be the same kind of thing seeing as you need to buy Battlefront to get it.
I felt ripped off with Arkham VR due to how short it was and how terrible the tracking was for me, I tried all kinds of different set ups but could never get decent or stable tracking, the desk in the Bat Cave bobbing up and down as if I was on a ship, the tables in the morgue were all over the place moving back and forth, when I warped to one it placed the table at such a silly angle, I was stood up but it rendered the table at eye level & I couldn't do the scanning, really annoying having to exit and reload and I guess that's the saving grace it was all over not long after that  For me it was a mess and a waste of £16.

Re: X-Wing VR mission.

I haven't yet downloaded the CoD VR freebie - however, the X-Wing one does sound more substantial.

I've only read one article about it (this one), but this is a quote which hopefully suggests that it might be a bit more than a 5-10 min job:

"What we play is only the first 15 minutes or so of the mission..."

Disclaimer: In that article, it doesn't sound like it's on-rails, so I guess that they could've just been flying loops around, not fulfilling their objective to move things on, extending the time of the mission.  It also might've ended straight after the point they reached when playing.

I especially went out and bought Battlefront for a tenner and it's still sat here, sealed.  But the way I look at it is I would happily pay that sum for sitting in an X-Wing in VR, even if it's only for 15 minutes.  Not to mention the number of repeat plays it would get and most likely everyone I know wanting to experience it (although I'll be slightly annoyed if they end up charging a fiver if you haven't got BF!).

Batman Calibration : a question!

Why can't you move where the Bat Symbol is on the floor? Seems such a simple thing.  I start the game, and it tells me to step into the circle. I can't do this because it is behind me and there's a sofa. I can move the camera around and make the circle appear in front but then the headset is too high. Every game I play is fine from my armchair but Batman forces you to move to the circle , but won't allow you to move the circle to you.

I like Batman but when you are on your own it's impossible to calibrate it because you can't easily move the camera around when have a headset on.

This is my main annoyance with VR, it's

vwey difficult to calibrate on your own.

Hey, why is it unsealed? Play it, Star Wars battlefront is great anyway!

Just seen this 360 video on Facebook that whets the appetite nicely

What happens if you tell it you are standing in the circle?

Can you do that? I cant remember.

Nope, that's the problem. Every PSVR game I have plays perfectly in my chair, but Batman makes me change everything around. If I can play other games stood up with the same move controllers, why should Batman make me start moving the room around?

I don't play online and all I heard about it is that it doesn't really have a single-player mode to speak of (I know it technically does, but not a campaign).

You can skip the calibration and see what happens.

I think it's because Batman like Job Simulator tries to do Vive style room scale and therefore needs a larger reliable tracking area.

Now everyone has had a few weeks of VR has anyone noticed if their tolerance to VR sickness has improved?

Just the opposite for me. Didn't have any ill effects for a few weeks, but this week felt awful after playing Eagle Flight. Not been back in since.

I had a 6 day acclimatisation period after launch. Beyond that it's been all good. Well, apart from not playing it anymore due to the HDMI clusterfuck with the PS Pro.

The only ill effects I've had have been playing too much Rez to the point where my brain just gives up and the experience is a mess of colour and light, which I mentioned back in October. I don't think I've dared to try any sessions quite that extensive since, although I was repeatedly trying (and failing) to 100% Area 5 not too long ago, and had no ill effects.

I played some stuff on Pro last night as I borrowed one from work. I could see a massive improvement in Robinson, everything looked sharper, a little brighter and there seemed to be more clarity. Bound looked great, Rez, Until Dawn and Eagle Flight felt sharper at times, but not spectacularly so, although I've seen a genuine improvement when reading text etc. Basically, while my TV isn't HDR capable like I was first told, the improvements I've seen in 4K games and the PSVR mean I'm going for it. If I didn't have PSVR I don't think I'd have bothered though.
