Ok so Amazon couldn't cancel my Eagle Flight pre-order as it was too late, fully intended to return it but because I am weak I had to open it  now I've played it...Hmm I think I like it but I've not played it too much, played the story to the first race, got 3rd in the WORLD! (won't last long). Anyway the view is more restricted than the video I posted, there is a constant black bit at the top of the screen regardless of if you're turning or not, it's like you're wearing a feathered helmet; it's very odd but I think I can live with it.
I'm enjoying the sense of flying around such a lovely landscape, it's very relaxing and when you pull off some fast paced turning, weaving between obstacles feels wonderful, the tracking works great. One thing you need to get used to though is tilting when you want to turn and not turning your head, you can look around turning your head but remembering all you need to do is tilt side to side to turn takes some time to get used to. Looking forward to going back to it after tea, I really like it :D

I was in the same boat but I'm glad I didn't cancel because the buyer's remorse is at 0%. Mission 12 is my favourite so far but I bottled it in the tunnel at the end to cost myself a third star because my neck couldn't take any more!

Mission 12 spoilers in the video below, obviously, but also to let those on the fence know that Pilotwings isn't the only game you'll be reminded of!

Yeah. I think, from a quick flap on Eagle Flight, that the core concept is fairly dodgy. Surely the "point" of VR is that your head is free to scan the environment? With the added black bars it feels a little claustrophobic.

I quite fancy some online. Anyone about later on? I tried to start a game and there was nobody. If we're going to play online, now is the time to do it, as this is going to be utterly dead in a week.

Yup Eagle Flight is lovely. The comfort stuff maybe works too well as I haven't had any sense of vertigo at all despite soaring high over Paris and swooping all over the place. Not tried the multiplayer yet but the story mode is good enough that I burnt my soup (not a euphemism).

I agree - it's really pretty and just a lovely little idea for a game. And something that only makes any sense in VR.

But I was hoping for a little more of the vertigo/gut reaction as you dive downwards, akin the the rollercoaster dip on the Rush of Blood demo. I guess that just fades with more and more VR use, though?

I've now got a Dutch copy of Trackmania coming to me from eBay and Eagle Flight coming from Amazon today after all of your impressions.

The demo of Trackmania was great, my wife felt a bit funny when watching but I was fine, there are some crazy drops.

For all those new to trackmania make sure you also try the non VR tracks. Also it's my favourite game for VR cinema screen mode as the reduction in resolution sort of adds scan lines and gives it a old skool sega blue sky's look.

I had 5 mins on the VR ones last night and can already see this will be my go to single player VR game.

eagle flight does look really good as well though

Oh man loving the mulitplayer in Eagle Flight... such a great feeling when you get in the flow.

The potential for this control method is immense.
