Still on my way home, will post some impressions tomorrow. Played and watched these games on PS4 Pro:

- GT Sport

- Horizon: Zero Dawn

- Nioh

- Watch Dogs 2

- Call of Duty Infinite Warfare

- Uncharted 4

- The Last of Us

- FIFA 17

- Bound

And on PSVR + PS4 Pro:

- GT Sport

- Farpoint

- Robinson: The Journey

Pose your questions!

Ok, here we go:

  • Which of those games have you played on an OG PS4, and how did the Pro versions feel different?
  • Did the PSVR games appear to be displaying at a higher resolution than previous non-Pro PSVR games?
  • Did the Pro have any effect on tracking?
  • Was SDE the same on the Pro version?
  • Do you think the Pro is a worthy purchase for PSVR owners who don't currently have a 4K HDR TV?
  • Were the graphics on these Pro PSVR games improved in terms of clarity (less blurry, etc), detail in the textures, or both?
  • How does GT Sport compare to Driveclub in terms of feel, graphics, gameplay, etc.

Plenty more where those came from!

Is VR worlds worth the asking price?

it's worth it for the 4 shooting galleries in the london heist alone, well that and the cutscenes with mickey. You're in the room with a 200lb mentalist, swear to god.

I've never played the ocean decent thingie, fuck that for a game of soldiers. I made the other half sit (stand) through it though. VR luge is... well it's repetitive, and there's not a lot to it, if I'm honest. Scavenger’s Odyssey fucks with your head, but it's something to build on, in terms of what VR games could be.

Dangerball is a kinect game with vr pretensions

get it as cheap as possible.

I think the VR Worlds game is definitely worth the asking price.

Best menus ever!!

As said, London Heist is great.

Oceans Decent looks very good, certainly shows off the VR.

Luge is ok, it made my wife queasy though and that was just watching me play it, ha.

Dangerball isn't actually that bad, certainly looks and plays great.

Scavenger’s Odyssey looks great too, jumping across asteroids  is cool.

There's a benefit to having the print-out as the people not diffusing the bomb can split into two groups: one looking at the printed-out manual, and the others looking at the screen.

But playing off the screen is absolutely fine on its own as well.

is anyone going to be buying a pro next week. I am tempted to buy one just for vr but want to see what benefits it gets first.

Yeah, I'm almost certainly getting one, but it'll be interesting to see what the reviews on Monday say about the benefits to PSVR.

If the VR benefits are significant then I'm in. Failing that I've a 4k TV so I'd be interested anyway but not day 1.

I am also thinking of getting Keep Talking and No-one Explodes but do I need to print off some manuals for it first? I am at work so can print them before I go home if required but won't be able to print them at home.

It's a PDF so you can print it or work off it on an iPad. That's probably the simplest solution if you have one.

- Simply put: dor pretty much all games it's a matter of increased resolution and lighting/colours. And do mind at the event all of these where running on serious high-end 4K HDR Sony tv's.

Few to games (at the moment) see an increase in framerate, or stability for that matter. For instance: Uncharted 4 definitely looked sharper and brighter, but the jeep chase through Madagascar still saw some framedrops.

- The resolution when playing GT Sport in VR on PS4 Pro seemed slightly higher than Driveclub VR on PS4. Mind you: the figures on the dashboard of the car where still hardly to non-readable.

- Didn't notice any difference in tracking.

- Yes, but it only occurs to me now that you mention it.

- I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a PS4 Pro unless you already have or plan on getting a 4K / HDR TV. The benefits for merely PS VR use seem rather minor at the moment.

- Not that I could see.

- GT Sport is shaping up to be just another Gran Turismo. So hyperrealistic car porn, but not the absolute best in racing action. As far as fun and speed thrills go, Driveclub is still the racing game to play.

Also keep an eye out for Project CARS for which PS VR support was promised as well. (Many moons ago though.)

Impressions of Robinson pse Joe

Underwhelming and nauseating. Could only play it with a DualShock 4 while it feels like it should be compatible with a Move (maybe it is?)

Your character is forced to walk very slowly and camera movement is done using the stick - but not gradually. This made me feel uneasy within mere minutes during a tutorial-like opening level.

I've never had to stop so soon while playing a VR game.

It's being reported that only part of GT Sport can be played in VR. <_< http://uploadvr.com/gran-turismo-vr-tour-mode/

Yeah, DriveClub is all road courses you just want to drive over and over again, especially the point to point stuff. Doing circles in a desert, no ta.

Bear in mind this is just a single demo level. We don't know about the VR content in the final version of GT Sport - hell, the game doesn't even have a new release date!

@McSpeed Joe.. did you manage to see or try any currently released VR titles as a comparison between Standard and Pro improvements? Mainly Driveclub really.

Sadly not. I'm quite curious to try Driveclub VR on PS4 Pro too. Not expecting too much based upon the games I played yesterday - it's be surprising to see Driveclub VR suddenly get weather and many fancy visual effects. But you never know!

Jackal Assault is a nice demo, but to echo what others have said it's pretty much the same as the Eve one.

I've flown the Jackal in the IW campaign and not only is this a far more fun way to pilot it, I didn't notice much of a graphical downgrade either. It looks 'better' in VR as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I need to adjust my TV settings...

Given that you haven't had the chance to compare any games pre and post Pro patch in VR, I think that's a rather premature conclusion at this point, tbh.

Maybe. However, in the Horizon Zero Dawn guided demo I attended the devs constantly switched between PS4 and PS4 Pro mode with the press of button. So yeah.

Man, I hope journalists get a chance to quickly switch between PS4 and PS4 Pro modes for VR games. It'll make judging the difference between the machines, purely from a VR point of view, really clear.

I have just sold my PS4 original model for £150 with a pad so I can get a Pro for £200.  Wish I hadn't now although it doesn't get picked up until next week.

Nice! Where did you sell it? I had originally planned to keep my PS4 and use an Ethernet cable to transfer the games to the Pro, but if I'll get more money now, I might shift mine this weekend.

I just put a post of Facebook to see if anyone was after one and my mate has purchased it for her son for Xmas. £200 for a Pro is surely worth it if only to future proof a little and when I can afford a decent 4k telly im ready to go.  In the meantime more interested like you to see what if any differences it will make to VR.

It'll be more than 10%

its also early days and I expect the difference to really shine next year just in terms of scene complexity if developers actually go for 1080p enhancements.

Every pixel is valuable in VR.

Playroom VR is getting an update so the first test I'll do is robot rescue. Every time I first load into it it's striking how blurry it is but then you just get lost in the world and forget about it.
