On the Rift Super Sampling impacts quality of movies watched in the Cinema etc as well as games. So if the Cinema Mode in PSPRO is super sampled due to the additional oomph then you will indeed see improvements in image quality.

Does the standard cinema mode for games and movies run at the native resolution of the headset?

No, if it did it would look as vast and wide as a VR game.

as it is it's either a massive screen that doesn't fit on the headset, a tiny screen that's in the middle or a medium distance that looks like a floating tv.

i don't really rate it because it disorientating to not have in and out movement tracking.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is whether it would theoretically be possible to improve the level of detail in cinema mode for gaming and movies, using the power of the Pro.

You can't supersample anything to the same or higher resolution. Supersampling, by definition, is the process of downsampling a higher resolution image. You can of course scale an image up - then downsample it (this is what will likely be happening on the Rift) but you're unlikely to improve image integrity - if anything you'll reduce quality.

There's a buy it now on eBay for £30 or one you can bid on for £20. Not sure if that helps?

I found one on Gumtree that's local to me. All I have to do now is hope she still has it. Thanks for the heads up and I may have to resort to ebay.

I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that mine has to go back for exchange/replacement - there is rarely a day that I don't get a loss of picture or sound at least once, and I also noticed another stuck pixel near the centre of my vision - this in itself doesn't really trouble me, but the relative size to the other area of stuck pixels tells me that there must be something like 16-20 of them in the other area, and that seems a little too many to tolerate.

Too bad, I guess this is the price I pay for making a guilty purchase. My issue now is how best to go about it, as this is a UK unit, bought from Amazon UK but imported to Japan. I don't think I can just contact Japanese support and expect them to replace it domestically. I've emailed the UK helpdesk for advice.

Oof, that's unlucky, but doubly so given your location.  It wouldn't hurt to contact the local customer service, would it?

Definitely the right thing to do, though.  My unit has been flawless, with no drift or dead pixels or anything, so it's not worth holding on to a dodgy one.

It's literally the second game on that list ;-)

Dammit I need a "wayback machine" I could swear it wasn't on the list this morning as I went on the list and I did a search on the page for "zone" and it found nothing.

So I blame the blog people!!!

I don't remember seeing it on the list, I think they added it just now.

Keep hovering over SuperHyperCube in the vain hope it's going to drop in price.... Has anybody here got it? Worth it or not?

I think it's excellent, but they totally fucked it by releasing this for £25. If this came out for £10-£15 everyone would have bought it. It's pretty tough (for me at least) but the music and visuals are amazing.

It's looks like it's been put together with a lot of thought, care and polish though, more so than many of the €20 titles.

I sent the email before I went to bed, woke up to a response. It was in the form of a link, summarising my request and their response, so I clicked on it.

It took me to the PSN 'Ask the Forums' page. ROFOLOLOL! Do you think I can get someone from the forums to send me a new unit?

Still on my way home, will post some impressions tomorrow. Played and watched these games on PS4 Pro:

- GT Sport

- Horizon: Zero Dawn

- Nioh

- Watch Dogs 2

- Call of Duty Infinite Warfare

- Uncharted 4

- The Last of Us

- FIFA 17

- Bound

And on PSVR + PS4 Pro:

- GT Sport

- Farpoint

- Robinson: The Journey

Pose your questions!

I bought Bound tonight. God damnit it's gorgeous. Absolutely lovely game.

I can see why the camera would annoy some, but I didn't mind it too much.

Yet another completely immersive experience. So far I've bought Thumper, Batman, Rez and Bound and there's not a dud among them.

Couldn't stop grinning playing Bound tonight. Everybody keeps saying it, but having this tech in my house just seems so amazing. I'm completely won over.

Was Robinson up to much?

I just really want to know how games look in VR on the pro in term of image quality.

How was GT sport in comparison to something like Driveclub and does GT sport feel stuffy and sterile like an old Forza game?. The physics might be there, the racing might be there but is it devoid of all atmosphere?

One day this tech will BE your house. Imagine you could change your wall colour or the size of your TV at will. Perhaps stock the fridge full of tasty chocolate snacks but with your VR specs on your eating spring onions and lettuce.

The Call of Duty VR mission is up.

i just played it.

it's about 15 minutes long and almost a carbon copy of the Eve demo.

One thing I will say is that it looks WAAAAAAAY better than eve. It has extremely good and clear image quality. It actually takes the possibilities of the headset and the ps4s capability to a higher level.

Its not the most fun to play as it feels very arcadey, I prefer smoother motion in turning movement but yeah it's probably best to just show your mates this rather than the Eve demo which looks blocky in comparison.

Just played Jackal Assault. The most challenging thing is working out how to get off the licence screen (look DIRECTLY at the licence text while pressing X to accept). The level lasts 10 minutes at most. It looks really nice, aside from the rubbish explosions. There's really not much to it, but you can imagine how eventually someone is going to take the EVE/Jackal mechanics and pump them up to a full single player experience with a campaign, which will be ace. Until then, we have this. It's fine. Shooting baddies is easy but fun. Remember to invert your pitch with the Square button.

I don't know what else to say, really. It's a whole load of nothing. It happens. The cockpit's nice. You enjoy a bit of pew-pew-pew. It ends. Such is the life span of a short freebie.

Aye agreed. Don't think it looks anywhere near as nice as Eve though. Such a shame that game lacks massively in content.

Didn't realise you could invert pitch! Nice.

Edit: on second inspection, COD:Jackal is pretty piss weak in the looks dept. First game I've played in VR where i think it looks ropey. (Suppose it was free though, can't complain too much)
