PlayStation VR

One week until I go Pro all because of PSVR. Even though I don't intend on getting a 4K TV for a good while yet.

I usually do mid generation jump, generally to supplement my primary console with something from the competition or a smaller quieter version of my primary console. This time it's an upgrade, without a VR alternative none of the competition offer anything that different from the PS4.

I'm pretty much in the exact same boat as you. My kids are delighted to hear they're getting my "old" PS4 and I'm delighted I'll be seeing some improvements to the VR games that i already think are fantastic.

Robinson: The Journey will be my PS4 Pro launch game, then. And maybe Eagle Flight will join it. Just as well because I can't think of a compelling reason to buy a Pro at launch for all those 4K TV troglodytes living in the last gen of gaming, innit.

Battlezone VR had a slight discount, and I had some store credit lying around so gaaaaaaah ... bought that as well.

If the PS4 Pro markedly improves the VR graphics I'm afraid I'm going to need one of those too. I don't have a 4K / HDR TV though.

I assume Battlezone discount was in a bricksa and mortar store as PSN still shows £50

Yeah, mail order company bol.com . PSN price for Battlezone is €60, most shops now sell it for €55 and I had €17.50 of gift coupons which I cashed on it so it came under €40 which I found acceptable.

A friend of mine swears it's the best game on PSVR.  He absolutely loves it.

Hmmm, cheers.

I may just get it then.

Although the Super Hyper Cube demo was great, not to mention  Windlands, Wayward Sky, Tethered and Until Dawn all deserve buying.

Ahhh, too many games.

For films? No, they're a fixed resolution. For games that have Pro enhancements then probably, yes.

On the Rift Super Sampling impacts quality of movies watched in the Cinema etc as well as games. So if the Cinema Mode in PSPRO is super sampled due to the additional oomph then you will indeed see improvements in image quality.
