I can't imagine it ever getting boring as long as there is enough new quality content available for it. Playing Batman Arkham VR and Rez Infinite yesterday is easily one of the greatest moments I ever had in gaming. I don't believe it's a gimmick either, the immersion just adds loads and as some of the early techdemos and minigames showcase is that the potential for new experiences is there. Of course all will depend on support, but I think it had a good start and if enough units will be sold in the next few months I have good hope we will see plenty of support.

One of the most interesting things is that this is largely uncharted territory while development for VR isn't necessarily much harder or expensive than other HD console development. In fact, costs may even be lower because graphic fidelity is lower and more people might be open to short but sweet experiences. This is a huge chance for indie developers and small publishers, so I really believe this could be a big boost to gaming as a whole.

I played a few others too. Mostly though, I had fun, and it was impressive, but there's just no killer software for me yet.

Another non-Rez lover. Sickening.

;)

Seriously though, if Rez and Thumper aren't your thing, I can completely understand the recalcitrance (and even if they are, they're such good games in 2D mode anyway that I could understand not rushing out to get VR... though it's totally worth it).

I've been really impressed by VR, and continue to be so; the point where I found myself genuinely enjoying Rigs for hours (to the point of delighting in two three-hour sessions in a single day), an online multiplayer-focussed game, despite having absolutely no interest in multiplayer, is testament to how much VR adds to an experience. Well, that and the fact that the single-player is surprisingly fully-featured; the leagues and trials are very enjoyable. I really hope it continues to get solid support, because Rez has already shown the potential for transcendent experiences, and I really, really want to experience a truly great space combat game, a truly great mech game, a truly great strategy game, a truly great adventure game, where I feel like I'm actually there.

I put the headset on today and that tracking was bloody awful. Glitching, twitching, warping the whole lot.

So I took some advice and did a complete shut down and left it a minute then powered everything on again and bang it was like launch day.

i sat about a foot closer too. This wasn't ideal because it loses the vision of the controller when I fully extend my arms down towards me knees but I could adjust the camera angle to help that.

Like I say it vastly improved the tracking and for the first time the controller was stable in Playroom VR. It wasn't doing the forwards backwards swinging it's always done.

i would estimate I was about 4 feet away from the camera.

Tonight was a long awaited vr session. The wife dived with manta ray to her total amazement. Her desire to be sat all the time made for a very lazy arm chair batman... Which she thoroughly enjoyed. Then I took over... Not sure when she left but I played the thumper demo... Yup that's another must have... Finished BatmanVR then competed Rez and opened Area X... Sweet jebus... I can't quite comprehend how astounding area x is shame I've got work tomorrow otherwise I'd play another hour.

I have so little time for gaming at the moment and so much I want to do. I almost bought Obduction for the Rift tonight, but every time I think of buying something new I just remember Area X, and that's all I want to do at the moment....shame with my limited time I've only been through it twice so far (and only just discovered about the alternate song for Area X thing!!!). Need......more......time.

Bombcast guys mentioned the camera going out of whack if you brought the PS4 out of rest mode.  Anyone else had this or is this just the bombcast guys having issues?

I do find that if I try and bring a game out of rest mode the calibration can be flakey. Usually a quick restart of the game sorts it. Probably to do with the lighting changing or something.

Yeah changing you room lighting after starting a game seems to cause issues. I did the last section of batman with wonky tracking I get drift but then it corrects itself then it drifts again... It was like playing a drunk batman which kind of lends itself well to the final section. Before playing anything else I pulled the camera out and plugged it in again and everything was fine. I do wonder if the old camera has more issues than the new one.

In other news my wife was complaining of VR head aches after her brief session last night.

I'm complaining of lack of sleep, VR is so stimulating getting to bed after a session is a challenge. Which after a midnight session then up at 6:30 is going to lead to a caffeine fueled day. Worth it though just for Area X.

I spent Sunday night jealousy reading through the last 3 pages of this thread which mainly consisted of "omg area x". So at least I've caught up.

Oh and I deleted the install of the now worthless demo disc and downloaded the 'full' version off the psn. Clearly missed the memo on that around launch. At least the kids can sample Job Simulator now.

Also ordered my PS4 pro on the weekend. Seems PSVR has been successful so far with back orders into wave five and the next orders due mid Nov. Plenty of PS4 pros though until Sony reveal that it's not really for 4K it's for VR.

I have just been playing the games from the disk that came with it....what am I missing? I started to download the demo from the store but all the games required installing and seemed to be taking ages!

Is Bound any good in VR? I only just noticed its existence and it looks good from the brief videos/screenshots I saw.

Very good. some don't like the camera (you flick it with the right stick to change or reset it) but there's apparently a patch for that on the way (I've not played it for about a week.

Thanks to all your positive impressions I've listed a bunch of my old Dreamcast and PS1 imports on eBay and am grabbing one of these!  Curse you, rllmuk.

Been reading through the last dozen or so pages and there are a lot of helpful tips to improve tracking and the general experience, such as optimal distance from the camera, lighting, something to do with changing back to 1080p in the settings, which store to use for demos etc. Anyone kind enough to summarise the collective wisdom into one post to save me from scrolling through 200+ pages? Would be greatly appreciated by me and any other potential newbies I'm sure :)
