Set mine up today. Funniest moment was letting out a big 'Ooof!! When a bottle hit me in the chest of Rush of Blood demo. that game doesn't muck about does it. Will pick that up. Enjoyed Battlezone demo but thought Eve was pants. Moving your face right in on Alumette to see all the detail on the characters is just magical .

Played some more of Tethered. I absolutely love it and I suspect most of you folks will too. Seems to be lots of content for your dosh. Only downside is no mid-level save points, but that's pretty minor as the levels (so far) are not more than 30 mins each....

Still can't get over how sharp and crisp it looks to some of the launch titles.

Has anybody risked Windlands yet? I'm hesitating as I think it looks vomit-inducing...

I've played it on Vive. It's definitely a stomach churner at times. Thankfully they have a few control schemes to help with this and the option for a cage around you if you need it (assuming all this carries over to the console version) . I've only ever had a couple of VR sickness moments, but they were primarily framerate issues. This game is definitely a candidate for it I can imagine. All that said, when you climb really high and end up falling to the bottom of the world (which you will), it does give me that "balls retreating into my chest" feeling like when a roller coaster drops.

It's a cool exploration game and it'll take ages to find everything, but I personally didn't stick with it beyond the second big area. I think I wanted to feel like Spiderman playing it, but it's much slower paced on the whole than I expected. Maybe I'm just spoiled with so many demos and games on the Vive. If you only have PSVR where option are currently fairly limited, I certainly wouldn't avoid it.

Ultimately, avoiding VR games for fear of feeling ill is a bit daft if you've never had that reaction. This game will certainly test your VR limits.

Oh God - why'd you had to add that little comment on the end... :)

Lol. Well ok, let me clarify - maybe it will.

Thing is, some people suffered horribly with Driveclub, didn't affect me in the slightest. Locomotion with no frame of reference (e.g. a car, or a ship, or a cage, etc.) is the one that gets nearly everybody, but how big a fix reference point you need varies. The only time I've ever been truly nauseous from VR was playing Lucky's Tale before I upgraded my graphics card, so the FPS wasn't perfect, and the camera moved through the level a little quicker than usual. Stupidly I stuck with it and ended up feeling sick as a dog for about 4 hours. That's not a game that anyone complains about and it hit me for some reason in a very small portion of the game.

Beyond that I've played countless games now in the Vive, Rift and PSVR, so I can at least claim a little knowledge on which games can be an issue, but unfortunately it appears to be a pretty personal thing.

Another vote for Tethered! Has had me grinning this evening.

I'm torn on Windlands. The price is ok now and the look and open world exploration are just the things I really enjoy. However the comments on movement being hurl inducing makes me apprehensive. I've been fine with every VR game so far apart from Rigs which I'm still struggling with (annoyingly the game itself is great)

It really is quite surprising there's no demo mandated for VR titles. Am I correct in thinking publishers have to pay for a demo to be hosted? If so I can see why these smaller companies are reticent. You'd think Sony would have a more encouraging policy given the issues around these games.

Cheers for the Tethered recommendations @Hardbattle, It's delightful!

Its basically a VR version of Settlers (which is no bad thing at all).

The controls work brilliantly and unlike other "god" sims, VR now offers you the chance to play as Molyneux himself intended.. by properly overseeing all the little minions as they go about doing your busy work! Love it!

So no excuses @Danster, buy it! ;)

Fuck me... BatmanVR is a bit special... could almost feel the rain... Amazing stuff. As launches go we certainly have a lot of quality content. Possibly better than either PS4 or XB1 hardware launches certainly one of the best supported peripheral launches I can recall. Hats off to Sony for not screwing the pooch and ruining VR as a viable medium. Given the steady stream of positivity, scalpers and chancers (I'm looking at you Game tsk tsk) it seems that PSVR might just have a chance to make VR relevant beyond game forums ;).

Am I imagining things - wasn't Tethered £19.99 2 days ago?

There was a pre-order discount.

Just completed level 2 which was a lot tougher than the tutorial. Loads of my peeps got the hump because they ran out of food - then they jumped dramatically off the cliff edges...:) replayed the tutorial again, as I missed some of the weather nuances.

Love love love this game.

I've played a good chunk of Windlands on Rift, I've tried to convey it before, but although it gives me strange feelings in my tummy when dropping a long way / etc, it doesn't give the same kind of discomfort I sometimes get in driving games.

But then again, I am the kind of person who doesn't seem to be affected by it all that much (I've played a whole bunch of 'normal' FPS games in VR without issue, for example).  If you've tried a Rigs / BattleZone / Driveclub for decent periods and have been ok, you'll be fine on Windlands.

Windlands makes you feel like you're flying!  In an awesome way.

And if you find it a bit slow / boring, I'd recommend playing it on 'easy' mode, which changes the mechanics so you can latch onto any surface for swinging, way more fun imo.

Order in your sick bags.

Trackmania Turbo coming on Oculus, Htcvive and PlayStation VR on Tuesday 8 November.

I've never played Trackmania but have heard a lot of good things about it. Will keep my eye on this patch and wait for some VR impressions.

It's not really a game I've sat and played thinking 'this is ideal for VR'. I hope I'm proven wrong.

So - have mine now setup! couple of questions:-

1 - The image on the TV isn't full screen and is a little fuzzy, is that normal?

2 - any tips of glasses clouding up?

3 - did anyone manage to make it through the kitchen in one sitting lol?

thanks,

jason

Go to settings on the PS4 and set the output res back to 1080p it sets it to the 720p by default or something.

What were you playing? Do you have an aversion to a type of movement in VR or (hopefully not) VR in general?

first experience of VR. I played VR worlds demo (driveclub, wayward, london heist) tumble and the kitchen. I want to throw up. I really hope this doesn't mean I am not able to use it, as the experience truly blew me away!
