Slow hand clap for the Windlands developers for launching at £32.49 despite having advertised a £19.99 price only a week ago on Reddit and their own website, 'barring minor changes'. It's extremely greedy price gouging, which will ultimately be self-defeating and result in well deserved fuck-all sales. 'Durrrrr, derp, why no one buy our game?'

Boneheaded prices in full:

Eve Valkyrie £54.99

Superhypercube £24.99

Windlands £32.49

Unfortunately these devs are probably too clueless to think about how much more money they would make if they were priced at the following:

Eve: £39.99

Superhypercube: £15.49

Windlands: £19.99

Seriously, Eve and Hypercube would be doing so, so, so much better. Apparently Hypercube has a world online leaderboard that's barely into the hundreds at present. Yet I bet Batman has already sold 100k units (assuming there are that many PSVRs in the wild).

Eve is so overpriced but at least it relatively consistent between PC and console (although I'm glad I got it free as I didn't get much more than an hour out of it on the Rift). But Windlands winds me up. In what universe can they hope to charge more than double Steam and Oculus Home price (where it is £14.99 which feels about right). Also, no demo for a game like Windlands is going to lead to a lot of unhappy people. It's a good game, but it has motion sickness written all over it (I'm generally immune these days and I broke out in a sweat a few times when playing). So that £32.49 is going to seem even worse value when you can't actually play it and there is no refund policy. A game like that NEEDS a demo. They are purely trying to gauge early adopters who are clamouring for more content! I'm sure at £14.99 they would have sold so much more, like Batman I think it's a decent price to have a bit of a punt. Windlands is very much an indie game, they deserve to sell no copies at that price.

It's a console. Why are we suddenly expecting PC prices?

(joke, but also not a joke: for one thing, you've got a licencing fee to pay Sony and you may not expect to sell as many copies of something like SuperHyperCube or Windlands as I'm sure Rocksteady expected to sell of Batman).

Yeah,  completely agree on Windlass. That's an insane price and doesn't even seem to fit a standard pricing bracket. I'm probably one of the worst for day one purchasing and buying more than I can play but even I'm not touching it until there's a significant price cut and/ or demo.

I really think it should be mandatory that VR Games have a demo. It's practically impossible to know how you might react to something, especially if there is a lot of movement, and with no comeback on digital purchases it's an utter minefield.

What's that, you want to know if Wayward Sky is any good, but you've only got five minutes to spare?

Good news!

(only showing footage from the opening stage, so you don't have to worry about spoilers)

That's a good breakdown of my experience too, a really pleasant simple game that in VR is a really solid experience. I cannot wait to see what these guys do next.

Good news! The Windlands devs have obviously read the tea leaves...

Windlands released today on the European Playstation Stores at the wrong intended retail price. This was our mistake, and we are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

We don’t expect this issue on the North American stores.

Thanks for your understanding and patience while this issue is being resolved. We are sorry for anyone affected. We will update you when we have more information.

Translation: We tried to pull a fast one, but got a shitstorm in return.

Still, good on them for quickly moving to correct this stupidity! :)

Good news on Windlands. A bit hard to understand how they accidentally put the incorrect price. Unless they messed up with currency conversion somewhere.

They're UK developers. I would be very surprised if they 'accidentally' put in the wrong price - I fail to see how their fingers could have slipped to the extent of putting in a price that no PS4 game has ever been released at (to my knowledge). They punted, they lost. To me, it's that simple. But at least they reacted quickly to how badly their decision went down, so I give them a bit of credit. If only Polytron were similarly non-stubborn.

The guys who did Don`t Die My Robot said SoE (But not SoA) have this weird thing where to get a specific retail price you have to set a specific wholesale price. IE. You don`t get to say to sony. "Sell our game at 32 quid". You give them a wholesale price and that magically translates into a retail price. I didn`t really understand it and neither did they. It sounded really complicated so it`s possible they did set the wrong price.

He also said

but they don't have a pricing matrix in europe

so you have to guess

then they say 'oh, it can't be wholesale price of that, we only allow wholesale prices of (X increments)

so you go, can i see the increments in a matrix?

and they go 'no you can cos its against the anti something or other law'

so then you just price it at anything and your PS4 game is £2.99 when you wanted it to be a fiver

I shall reiterate my disgust as the second hand market for move controllers and Sony's inability to keep them in stock at retail while they release games that require them.

Thats scalpers for you, people are buying up stock to sell at a profit as people are desperate.

Because Sony strangely are unable to resupply retail.

It could actually harm the long term success of this thing if people are unable to get the full experience when they want it.

The Move warehouse is FINALLY BARE! After all these centuries! (Now Sony can work on the real VR motion controllers...)

Picked up a couple of Move controllers for £20 yesterday and a twin charging stand for them from Amazon came today (love Prime).

So all set for launch.  :hat:

High-five Pug from the past!

Played some more of Tethered. I absolutely love it and I suspect most of you folks will too. Seems to be lots of content for your dosh. Only downside is no mid-level save points, but that's pretty minor as the levels (so far) are not more than 30 mins each....

Still can't get over how sharp and crisp it looks to some of the launch titles.

Just read a glowing 9/10 review so think it's getting purchased later.
