As an aside seems like people are snapping this up pretty quickly, a friend works at Smyth's in a local retail centre and they got 22 more units in on Monday and had sold out by the early afternoon. I'm not a figures guy but it will be interesting to find out how well it has sold.

I feel it will sell very well. Unlike the Rift or Vive, there are a lot more people just in a position to pick one up. As it's also essentially going to be sat in peoples lounges I think lots of people will be trying it at friends etc, and let's face it, it's a joy to show off this technology to VRgins. Sony did a good job of making lots of content available as demos at launch with enough to cover most tastes, so I think that will help too.

Guys, quick question. I'm getting vr on Friday. What else do I need? I know about the camera but are the move controllers necessary for thumper and rez?

Moves come into their own for Rush of blood (you can play with the DS4), and are required for the London Heist in VR Worlds, Batman and Job Simulator.

Move controller not needed for Rez or Thumper. Get downloading the demo pack and playroom ahead of time.

The general concensus is that Move adds quite a lot to handful of experiences, Job Simulator (move only I think), Batman (can be played with a normal controller I thought, maybe I was wrong on  this), Rush of Blood (again can work with normal controller).

If you haven't already got one get a camera STAND, essential for spot on tracking.

How do gamecube games look in PSVR btw? Anyone tried them? I'm thinking the fact they are 480p anyway might make them well suited to the lower res screen?

I haven't tried them on PSVR, but emulated stuff looks great on the Rift, precisely for this reason. Lower resolution is more suited.

My lenses keep getting steamed up easily, any tips for avoiding it? Have I maybe got the visor too close to my eyes?

I just slide the goggle bit away for a minute to allow it to de-mist then repeat if necessary. Eventually the headset will reach body temp and it should stop.

The front end is pretty awful, just a low res version of the normal home screen...functional I think I would say but not a great first impression, I expect it to change over time. And while the pass through signal to the TV allows for asynchronous play I had no idea the image quality on the TV would be so bad...unless I'm doing something wrong or my TV just didn't like the lower resolution it's been given. Is this normal? I'm now thinking it may be related to my HDMI switch box, although only seems to impact the image on the screen.

There's an option somewhere in settings that you need to set to 1080p not Auto. I think that improves it.

Oh yeah, another thing I did last night which made the experience a bit better, was to tuck a bit of the headset cable through a belt loop on my jeans.  Just enough to give a bit of slack so you don't feel the cable tugging at the headset all the time.  It made the whole thing more comfortable for a 2-hour standing session.

The res is low on the screen anyway as it's only 960/1080 per eye, the only way to improve the look of that is to ensure the focus is spot on, then in theory it should look 1920x1080 once your brain puts it back together, the auto/change to 1080p or whatever setting is for the social screen.

If anything Rez is better without the Move controller. The aiming reticule is disappointingly laggy and doesn't move 1:1 as you'd expect. Not a hardware issue as Until Dawn works perfectly.

Ah actually - it's a single screen on PSVR so while it's 1920x1080 and effective res of 960x1080 per eye you will lose some pixels depending on your IPD Measurement because the software will reposition the image on each half of the display, so unless your measurement allows it for bang centre you wont get the 960x1080 it will be slightly lower.

Yeah the screen resolution on the social screen looks totally normal to me and I have mine set to 1080p

Thank-you, will give that a try. Thought it was a bit odd it hadn't been brought up in reviews!

Yep, it just seems to augment where your head is pointing, once I started aiming with my head and fine adjusting within that direction with Move it works great.

How do you turn with Move then? I got beaten by the level 4 boss purely because I couldn't turn around which was annoying.

So I got three guys coming from work tonight to check out VR. I am thinking about a play list.

I was gonna start them off with something fairly sedate, like Tumble. Then Maybe something like VR worlds Ocean Descent Shark Attack or allumette, then possibly the headmaster demo, then eveValkyrie. Then rush of blood and Drive club , London Heist , Job simulator and finally Batman. They aren't gamers, none of them will have seen a PS4 in action let alone VR.So I am thinking Rez or thumper at this point may be a bit hardcore.

And then all play Keep talking and no body explodes
What'dya reckon?

Definitely stick to the static games at first and then move onto the more hardcore ones at the end of the night. I would probably do Rush of Blood before Eve as I've found some people can be instantly rendered vommy by that. Rush of blood at least gets them used to some movement before you start making them do spins and loops.
