You guys are buying a lot of games in a short time.

It's true, and I wonder how long before the complaints start about there not being enough games to play. Might be wise to pace yourselves, there won't be an obvious games drought if you don't just play everything at launch.

I'm slightly scared of this whole thing.  I'm itching to get in but I'm skint.  And yet I'm almost grateful I can't afford the initial outlay because to seems like it leads to spending a ton more.

Yeah lots of free stuff, and that does scratch the itch to an extent, but the problem is every game is elevated to such heights you want to experience it all.

Sorted out last night's Batman tracking issues by turning on a light. So yeah, playing in the dark doesn't work too well.

Anyway, after that it was even more amazing, and I just spent 2 hours basically dicking around and staring at stuff, occasionally chuckling to myself because I had this fucking tech in my house and it's so fucking amazing I just want to show everybody I know all the time.

Almost started welling up at one point due to the pure majesty of it all. Almost. I'm the goddamn Batman.

After the hardware, what I would consider the big games on it Rez, Thumper and super hyper cube are pretty reasonably priced. The 3 'full price' titles, Eve, Battlezone and Rigs I am tempted to get but not going to go for them at their current price, I just don't think they have enough in them compared to most non-VR PS4 games commanding the same price.

Having noodled with a few camera positions tonight whilst standing playing Batman I'm of the opinion the camera wants to be at or just under your head height and, as mentioned earlier, around 4-5ft away. I'm getting near perfect tracking with that. Results worsen considerably with the camera too low or beyond around 8ft.

I have a height adjustable swivel and tilt TV mount on my wall (its ace) so I read your post and lowered it.

i then figured maybe it's using one of the cameras as a primary and the other as a reference so shifted it slightly to the right which means the left camera is facing me dead on.

its definitely better for Wayward Sky though now when I look hard left or right I also get a slight bit of backward motion, kinda like leaning back and looking hard left/right should be. . I shall experiment on lowering it even more and shifting it either left or right.

i am almost exactly 5.5 feet away from the camera so I could also try going forward 6 inches I guess.

I also had much better tracking with a light on tonight. Wasn't perfect but not too distracting. Played through to the end of Batman. Wow! Such a shame it's so short. I thought I was about half way through when the credits rolled.

PES on a giant screen is pretty cool. Also picked up Rush of Blood because the shooting feels so good. (You're right @JPickford. Doesn't help that the games are fairly short or bite sized experiences, albeit reasonably priced.)

I can't help feeling it's not good for the eyes playing for too long though. Any more than an hour feels like I'm pushing it. Maybe I haven't got the eye measurement quite accurate...

You won't regret it! Defo get move controllers, the games that support it totally elevate the experience

Oh yeah, I should have said it's only because I haven't been able to find any to buy yet! I will get them as soon as possible.

Now what games to purchase first? I've already downloaded all the UK available demos/anything free on the store. Rez is definitely no. 1 for me because Rez, and Batman and Until Dawn I will buy as soon as I have Move controllers. Are people feeling like anything else is truly essential right now?

It might sound like hype, but almost everything is essential. The great thing is most things can be sought out for free st least as a taster. But Rez and batman are prob the two best on offer, I would say virtual worlds is also, but the demo on those will tell you if you want to see more.

For instance I have had this since Friday and only just looked at the demo of "inside", fucking hell that first virtual video thing of the lake and train etc just knocked me for six. The other two free ones not so good, but i an gagging for more jaw open experiences like that.

What's Inside?

Its on the demo disc (US one anyway), not heard anyone mention it, just stuck it on and blew me away. Basically 3 free experiences, you don't do anything, but the first one is amazing, very trippy, I would subscribe to a channel that game me a few of those every month. Everyone should check it out.

Thumper is stunning in VR.

Had a mixed experience with this tonight..

1. Rez Area X = FUCKING AMAZING! Finally sat down and committed to putting some time into Rez and got all areas open and dived into the mind glowingly awesome Area X only for...

2. Tracking drift. I was sitting in front of the camera(on top of TV) nearing the end of the area X boss fight, hardly moving my head btw when it wasn't even a drift the world all shifted significantly to my right and any attempt to re-centre with options only shifted the image up a fraction. no reflections or blue lights to throw it off, really really weird.

The hardware on the whole provides a consistent working experience, I can only think it's a weird software bug due to the way it just set in.

Did you move the left analogue stick by mistake? In Area X you can aim using the stick as well, which means that the view will turn and the aim box won't go back to centre if you recalibrate. This happened to me, and I spent a couple of minutes wondering why the aiming box had moved to the right and I couldn't get it back. Of course I actually could, just by pushing the stick left. I must have touched it without realising.

I got  to Area X last night for the first time. What kind of witchcraft is this?! Playing standing up I really got that "in another place" feeling - quite remarkable stuff and just so damn pretty. My mind is boggling with the possibility what the PS4 Pro is going to improve.

I noticed on Reddit last night, one developer mentioned that the Pro would also improve tracking....?

Just found the quote:

"The 2.4x power increase is extremely appealing to us. It would be possible to hit the 200% over-res, and likely 90fps.

We are in conversations with UE4 VR engineers, discussing what we could do with all the extra horse power. Expect the visual qualities of PSVR on the playstation 4 Pro to be comparable, if not better than Vive/Oculus running on a minimum spec machine.

This time next year, games on the Pro should raise the bar for visual quality. Hopefully we see improvements in tracking too. Tracking quality is the final missing puzzle piece for Sony."

It is a possibility, i'll experiment at some point today. I'll be dead happy if it was my error as on the whole i've been relatively happy with the headset tracking.

False alarm from Shopto who sent me an email saying they were about to take payment for my Move controllers. I called them and was told they are still trying to get a delivery date from Sony but were struggling to get any straight answer. Current eBay prices are just taking the piss and yes, supply and demand but still, taking the piss.

Jesus, not wrong, just checked and the new twin pack are going easily for double RRP, I thought I was mad paying £70 for these at the weekend.

Do we reckon there's going to be a run on the various PSVR paraphernalia this Christmas? I'm buzzing to get onboard, but don't yet own a PS4, nevermind a headset. Gonna have to build it all up in increments. I'm hoping to nail a decent OG PS4 deal (wanting that optical connector, so no Slim for me, plus no funds for a Pro if I'm going the VR route at Christmas). Are cameras and headsets and Move controllers likely be in short supply as Christmas swings round? I'll roundhouse Santa back up the chimney if he fails to deliver, like.
