So, anyone managed to get any .mp4 360 videos working on the PS4/PSVR?

I'm using 4K video downloader to grab the 4K files (not porn*) from YouTube and that all seems to work fine - they are .mp4, AVC/AAC encoded. Which Sony says is what's required.

Put them on a USB, in a folder called video. PS4 sees that fine.

But the latest version of Media Player on PS4 says the file type not recognised when I try to run them.

When I hook up the PSVR, I can activate the VR mode option but the app still won't play the files.

What am I doing wrong?

*Actually documentaries shot by climbers on the Eiger, but you don't believe me.

I tried some out in the VR cinema, one was Mythbusters blowing up a van which was pretty cool and another was watching a boxing match which was pretty fucking incredible. Dunno if you can load up vids using that app? It's te Littestar VR Cinema.

Now that I've ordered it and have to wait now I'm just sat here reading updates to all the VR threads with a tiny tear running down my cheek.

Just wait until you're on Thumper in VR, you'll be balling your eyes out. Not just from the sheer awesomeness, more the inability to blink!

Only 3 endings for the London heist?

Still,

Spoiler

Catching the gun in mid-air is pretty cool

Dangerball reminds me on something 360 Kinect-ish

I let the other half play the shark one. Wanted to film her reaction. Goes on a bit though, eh?

Did 4 runs on lugeVR, didn't feel a thing. There was something similar on the psone that I remember playing

Scavenger thingie though... my poor stomach. Cold waves through my body.

TumbleVR is good, isn't it?

Spoiler

Rush of blood is still sealed...

Having noodled with a few camera positions tonight whilst standing playing Batman I'm of the opinion the camera wants to be at or just under your head height and, as mentioned earlier, around 4-5ft away. I'm getting near perfect tracking with that. Results worsen considerably with the camera too low or beyond around 8ft.

After totally regretting not pre-ordering one and then spending the last couple of days keeping stockinformer open and checking it all day only to miss everything available close by, I'll have one tomorrow afternoon. Getting a new camera with it but not got any Move controllers yet.

I cannot wait.

Welcome to the machine

I don't think my brain can handle what it's being exposed to over this past week!

Just played through Rez and Area X in a single sitting. Oh my fucking god that was good!

I was practically dancing around the living room during Area X.

Feel like I've used the word phenomenal quite a bit since the PSVR launch.. but screw it there is no other word to describe it.

I want to love bound, but someone please explain how the camera flicking around is a good design decision?

It's a bit of an annoyance to be sure. I'm giving it some slack due to the feeling of scale you get from it all though. Plus the general art style is beautiful...

Played all the other demos and have Battlezone and Until Dawn on the way. First time tonight playing all the Playroom VR stuff with my housemate (taking turns between headset and TV). It's amazing! However much I love my Vive, I'm so glad I have this as well. Can't imagine multiplayer games like that coming to PC (atleast I've not found anything that works that way).

This lot as well as getting Accounting by Crows Crows Crows and Justin Roiland on the Vive. It's been a cracking day for VR :D

Didn't the devs say there was a patch coming with an auto-following camera?

I'm not sure but that will definitely be welcome for people who aren't as susceptible to motion sickness. Would be nice to have the option of both methods. The music is lovely too I think... I haven't finished it yet though. I've only played a couple of hours.

I'm slightly scared of this whole thing.  I'm itching to get in but I'm skint.  And yet I'm almost grateful I can't afford the initial outlay because to seems like it leads to spending a ton more.

In fairness there is a hell of a lot of free stuff to get stuck into with the downloadable Demo disks and Playroom VR alone.

Its just that once you get a taste of most of them you'll want the full games.
