Ahhh bugger. The only (and vital) piece of kit that was super easy to order has not shown up yet. If the camera doesn't show then fuck you Amazon Prime...here's hoping it still makes it. Move and PSVR were both tricky to nab, and they sit here taunting me.

I've checked local Argos and PC World for stock...anywhere else likely to have them (I have no Smyths near here)

EDIT: seems my local Argos has them after all, yay! Of course I don't want the faff of sending the Amazon one back so hopefully it still shows.

It's getting 5 star ratings on the Oculus store. Not sure if that counts for much, there are no worded reviews.

And Gamespot have given it a 7:

Also, RoadtoVR tend to get a bit over excited at times..I'd take what they say with a pinch of salt. Still, it looks fun.

As a keen bird watcher who has always envied birds in flight I'm looking forward to playing this. I really hope that there are proper real-world birds that you can choose from, and not just the ones you'll inevitable unlock as you clear areas. I mean, who wants to play as a crow?

Windlands is out next Tuesday. Everyone that's played it on the PC is saying that you need to get some vr legs first otherwise you will suffer :D Although I guess one of the devs has posted some advice:

We are all wired differently, we recommend 5 minute sessions until you get used to your body not moving and learn some VR legs, lots of people do get used to your body not moving but your sight moving, we do offer a number of extra 'comfort' modes that accommodate most users, these are now presented when the game starts to help people who are sensitive to movement in VR, Windlands is one of the most mature VR locomotion games available and most people are just fine.

It's a faff, but using a HDMI converter you can play Wii light gun games on a Cinema screen using this headset. It's amazing.

That's what I've been doing on the Rift...using Big Screen (a home theatre environment), and using Dolphin to play the games in 3D when emulated. Ghost Squad and House of the Dead Overkill are totally amazing this way.

Sonic VR  , that could work if you thought about it properly.

Played Battlezone for the first time earlier. Wow the ship is big. The game plays well too but the blurriness of medium distance objects is quite off putting. It's not the resolution of the screen, or at least I don't think it is, it's just what the game is doing.

Roll on the Pro.

Also I changed my controller light bar to default brightness in the hope that it would improve tracking. It was set to dim.

Biggest issue I have right now is where to store the headset when not in use.

I put mine in a plastic storage box with a lid so it stays dust free plus it's quick and easy to access. :) Sure it's not as fancy as showing it off but it's less likely to get damaged.

It defaults to the highest brightness setting when you switch the headset on and use the controller, if you try changing the brightness while playing VR it tells you.

Eagle flight looks great - my only word of caution is that the worst VR sickness I've experienced (in fact the only real VR sickness I've experienced) was that wingsuit game on Vive. It was horrible.

Worry not! It has a feature similar to the visor in RIGS.

The head tilt steering is not the only innovation that Ubisoft Montreal packed into this package. It also designed a special narrowing mechanic for combating motion sickness. Essentially, the full field of view in the Oculus Rift is never fully utilized in Eagle Flight. A portion of the screen always remains darkened. As you turn, these shadows will shift dynamically along with your viewpoint. The purpose of this system is to combat motion sickness during gameplay.

The shadows do their job perfectly. Motion sickness is essentially a non-issue for Eagle Flight, which is saying quite a bit for a game that wants to make your brain believe it is flying, even though your body knows that it is not.

Get the one from Argos and then take the Amazon one back to Argos.... :)

Does anyone else still not quite believe they have a VR headset? I mean it's ALL MINE and I don't have to give it back   Always have a chuckle to myself when I realise it! Still waiting on the move controllers from GameStop, was hoping they'd have arrived today as I want to play Rush of Blood properly!

Tried playing REZ stood up and it does make a huge difference to the feeling of presence but had my first woozy VR experience, it's when the camera swung around so I was going backwards and then it started going up diagonally too; my knees almost gave way  Still good fun and wow floating through these levels feels like nothing else, just breathtaking!

I'm sure Sony would have thought of that, infact I expected that to happen, but it was still worth a try.

I've just been having a bad day with tracking.

Even when in the same play session sometimes its swaying or glitching, other times it's flawless. The playroom Vr menu when you see the robot sitting on the sofa, perfect. When your in Robot rescue swaying.

I find it annoying more than sickening.
