Got mine today, and as fantastic as it is (Rez was absolutely amazing), it's going back tomorrow.

I have played it for a few hours, and have been as sick as a dog ever since

☹️️

VR Legs are a thing for most people. It takes many short bursts and starting with less intense games and experiences and then before long you can be doing all kinds of crazy shit without breaking a sweat :)

Not everyone is impressed with VR, I was so eager to have my brother come and try it out; he cancelled his pre-order and we've both gamed together for years but he wasn't impressed <_< Pretty gutted tbh, I thought for sure he'd have the same reaction as me; got it all set up and in focus and tried Playroom, Battlezone, PSVR World diving demo, Robot Rescue and Rush of Blood; kept looking for him to smile but nope the miserable b*****d! had no reaction  "Yeah it's alright, just like looking through a port-hole; it's not like you're really there" which is true enough but c'mon it's more than that. I guess if you're really set against getting into it you won't enjoy it. Keep your PSVR away from maungy buggers!

Ah well I love it and think that is the most awesome thing, I still can't get over the sense of scale and presence you can feel; I can't get through that diving demo, looking up at the boat as the light fades is too real for me, panic every time. I found some Move controllers on Gamestop UK this morning; as soon as I bought them the listing went to out of stock so hopefully that means I've got them and then I can fully enjoy Rush of Blood & finally give Batman a go when they arrive, is it worth holding out on Rez too? Or do they not really add anything to that?

As someone who has demoed VR for years now with mostly amazing reactions I can say on occasion people just are left cold by it. It's an interesting one for sure, and I have no idea why that is. Is their mind not registering what they are seeing in the same way...is the fact that it's obviously a screen they are looking at just stopping them from suspending disbelief.

I've thought about it a lot and in some ways liken it to going to the theatre. Some people will just be swept up, laughing, crying...feeling emotions. In fact if a play is amazing then I'd even say most people may feel that way. But others just see actors on a stage in make-up with some lights pointing at them and can't get past that.

Is it lack of imagination or something more than that? It would be an interesting area to research, for sure.

Tell me more @Sng what's there beyond the demo? What's it like as a game?

Well that's literally it. Just the same few things in different setups. Car mechanic, shop worker, chef, all a laugh but you're basically doing the same thing a lot.

£15 would have made more sense.

I wish I bought Super Hypercube. Can't justify that this month now though.

Job Simulator is the only one I slightly regret at £25. The demo is probably enough.

Yeah the kids love it, but I wanted a bit more game. You can basically do whatever you like when you do a task and still pass. I wanted my manager to start shouting at me for throwing coffee at the customers, or to get sacked for eating all the donuts. But that's exactly what the kids like, replacing people's car batteries with flower pots or dumping a load of rubbish in their boot and charging them five times the cost of something. It's quite clever at times, making pizza or soup in the cafe is clever and some of the work you have to do on the computer in the office job is silly fun. It's a harmless experience type game, not the sort of challenge I want, but a bit of a laugh for a while.

Also requires dual Move controllers.

The kids played it so much that they completed all the tasks for all the jobs and that nets you a funny bonus mode...

Spoiler

Low gravity mode and bounce mode, with predictable hilarity

Yeah, but not worth £25 imo.

How do you do that?

Go to PS4 settings then go to Devices and pick the VR menu option.

it'll take a picture of your face, take time to measure 70cm from the camera. Look at the red dot on the camera and take the picture then place the crosses in the centre of your pupils.

My personal measurements were a full 5mm less than the default, I think that quite a lot and it's defiantly made a difference.

ive done it twice so far. It's worth doing a couple of times and play for a bit to see if it's better for you.

Wayward sky was 100x better than I thought it would be. Watching videos of people playing it in VR don't give a great impression of how awesome VR can be. Same with headmaster, which I also really enjoyed.

I really like the demo and want to buy the full game but every single time I've played it the view swings forwards and backwards. The tracking on my controller isn't very either. It's the best 'game' with the worst tracking for me.

Is the full game any better or patched?

I didn't have any problems with tracking on the demo, maybe you need to tweak your setup, get room darker and remove any ambient light getting into the camera.

Has anyone bought superhypercube? I feel as though the price and having both Rez and Thumper in the same sort of ballpark has to have hurt it.

From the demo I really can't figure out how they came to their decision on price. £15 at the most.

Phil Fish though isn't it. Big name big price. Probably is the best game out for it though. Although I'm just going by the demo and reviews. Not bought it... Yet.

Gamespot gave it a 6 and made the observation that you could do it without VR and just use the right stick to look around the cube/shape. I'm sure it wouldn't be as good as in VR but it's a fair point.

From the demo it looks like something I'd get bored of relatively quickly.

Now imagine a VR horror game that said "calibration error" then used the camera to cut to an image of you standing there in the headset. Only there's some creepy fucker standing right behind you.

Oh Jesus that would be all kinds of nope!

Just done the first two levels of rush of blood . What a joy /nightmare . I didn't think move controllers would make that much difference but my god .

Basiacally if you have seen  equilibrium. That was me .

Same for me with that game. The world seems to be constantly moving slightly, but controller tracking is terrible. I had to hold it like I'd broken my wrist, which has put me off the full game.

The first evening most stuff seemed to track the controller pretty well. But now it is constantly moving around and never appears straight. I've noticed that if you follow the gudie when it asks to align your head with the box at the beginning of the demo disc, that you are a bit skew whiff compared to the position of the camera to make it line up properly. The camera is a crappy piece of kit really.

I'd love to see some simulators working their way to the PS4 for this - a flight sim would be amazing.

Wasn't War Thunder meant to get a VR patch on launch day?

I'd love some kind of Helicopter sim, love flying round in the choppers in BF4 (used to spend a load of time on the firing range map).  In VR?  Yes please.

I can't believe reviewers and streamers were saying rush if blood isn't scary. I guess there's a huge difference between playing it in a really bright studio with a half dozen the other people and no headphones to playing late night in the dark on your own with headphones.

Only did one level before turning it off. Great stuff though.

War Thunder is meant to be getting VR yeah. Thought it was day one but apparently not. Downloaded in preparation.

I'm waiting until it's at that price point. Would have been a guaranteed purchase, and I expect that's the case for many people.
