Really enjoying reading everyone's experiences, it's making resisting the urge to buy a headset even harder, especially as my local Smyths apparently has some in-stock. I just can't justify buying the headset, the camera, the Move controllers and then a bunch of games. I'll wait until some bundle deals or something come out. Very jealous of all of you. :) I never thought I'd want to try a game called Job Simulator so much.

Am I doing something wrong or is there no actual demo from Hustle Kings and Bound on the demo disc? When I choose them I just get the 3D splash screen thing and an option to buy, not play.

I have the same thing with Bound. No idea why.

Although you don't need a TV to use BR, one thing that really surprised me is that you do need a TV connected to watch 3D movies. I know you can't watch them in 3d on the headset, but in order to watch a 3D bluray on the headset in 2d, you need the ps4 to be connected to a 3d TV.  If you have a 2D TV connected or no TV at all, you can't watch a 3d bluray in 2d on the headset although a 2d movie will work without a TV.

Madness that the headset doesn't play 3D blurays in 3D by default but there you go.

I've been pondering the areas where Sony has cut corners with PSVR - using the old camera and Move controllers basically - and what they've cut is actually a pretty savvy move I reckon. People will be willing to buy better cameras and wands incrementally as the years go on but the headset is too expensive for people to be comfortable with that. So Sony has lowered the price of the overall system while letting them climb back up towards Oculus and Vive quality tracking.

According to an email from iam8bit, the physical release of Rez is now going to be mid-November. I can wait. Honestly.

Game impressions so far:

VR Worlds - Impressive and innovative, but I don't see much replay value. My very first VR experience was putting my vertical controller through that ball of light on the title screen. I think I did a little squeal.

Rush of Blood - Great fun, especially with dual Moves, some proper scares and good ideas. I just wish the guns had laser sight, it seems like I'm firing vaguely in the right direction and hoping for the best.

Tumble VR- Probably my favourite game so far, which I didn't expect. I thought it would be a throwaway cheap title, but I'm keen to get every single medal. Some great challenges and puzzles. Wish the announcer robot thing would STFU though.

Playroom VR- only tried the robot rescue so far. I genuinely feel like we should start some sort of petition to get the devs to make a full game of it.

Thumper- I feel like I'm really going to love it in the same way I loved Amplitude on the PS2. Haven't given it enough time yet though.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes- Love love love. My girlfriend and I have been playing it every night with a printed out manual, taking it in turns to be defuser/reader. I love all the ways we've come up with to communicate certain things really quickly in order to shave valuable seconds off our time ("it's the train track button set"/"mazey thing, circle on top and bottom row"). If you have someone else you can regularly play with, just download it right now.

Job Simulator- Good fun, hilarious, and perhaps the most immersive of everything I've played, despite how cartooney it is. Incredibly easy but I guess that's not the point. It's fun to experiment with all the different objects, and way more fun than it should be to toss stuff at the robots.

Superhypercube- Excellent game, pretty addictive. No idea why it was £25 though. A tenner seemed more appropriate. I'm looking forward to getting to the later stages just so I can witness the changes in background graphics.

Driveclub- Demo only. Boring, and looks like a Saturn game. It didn't make me feel sick but it made my eyes water a lot. How bout dat?

Harmonix Music- Demo only. Mehhh. Probably more fun with your own music. The easel bit and the trippy tunnel journey were good, but I don't think I'd pay more than a couple of quid for it all.

Wayward Sky- Demo only. Really enjoyable but it seemed pretty easy. Has anyone got the full version? Does it get a bit more challenging?

I have Super Stardust Ultra on disc but I've not even unwrapped it yet and I don't know why. Haven't tried the VR bits of Bound or Tomb Raider yet, but I'll get around to it. Tempted by Batman, but I'm going to rinse what I've got a little more first.

In summary: Eight thumbs up.

Yeah I like that strategy.  Lower entry price.  My one worry is that we'll soon (18 months?) get wireless headsets as the manufacturers sort out the lag issues i the hardwae taking HDMI input etc and I REALLY want wireless.   Crumbling though on the PSVR.

Ah I (bat) caved and bought Arkham VR. Possibly the best implemented VR I've tried. Bloody good.

I'm stuck on a bit where you have to enter a safe combination though. It won't let me press any buttons! They used to work but now only one does. Must be a weird tracking issue. It's top left which is where daylight is currently pouring in, unfortunately.

Edit: restarting sorted it.

Silly question but can you play with one move only? I have an unused one that I got with my PS3 but I'd have better luck finding a hen's teeth than finding another single unit.

Mainly asking for stuff like Rush of Blood and Job Simulator.

I think it will be a long while before wireless works well, 1080p at 60 or 90 fps uncompressed is an awful lot of data then there is the latency issue...

I had the left drift, and the 'hold options to reset' has no effect. Which is weird...

I get that in RIGS without fail. Slowly kicks in after about 20 minutes. Gaf have suggested playing with the TV off or just switching the headset off and then on again as solutions. I've yet to try though.

Don't forget the battery issue too.

That would add an awful lot of weight to get any good use time.

You might get a mixture of a wireless headset with mobile phone graphics; but it probably won't be PSVR quality. Tethered will be about for a while

Don't really like Batman VR. Moving around areas feels a bit like google street view and clearly shows the limitations we are up against with VR. Some of the visual imagery is cool though, like when you

Spoiler

get stuck in the prison and the walls keep changing as you turn around and you eventually look in the mirror, and you're the Joker.

It stays pretty easy but is also charming throughout, well worth £15.99 it's a great experience.
