Guys, guys, guys: SPORTS BAR VR IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Learn from me: It initially looks like you can't get past step 2/5 of the tutorial where it tells you where to stand. Step 1 has a clearly defined end to it which then moves you on to step 2. Step 2 doesn't have that, though, so I was stepping in and out of the circle a gazillion times thinking I was doing something wrong or the game was fucked. Turns out that you have to manually move that screen on. To do this, select the menu with triangle on one of your moves and then point at the arrow and hit the T button to move on.)

Can everyone buy these please, and then we can have a dedicated rllmuk room. It'd be incredible. So much fun just messing around with pool balls and throwing darts. The air hockey is awesome. Didn't actually play a proper game of pool as playing about was so much fun.

Regarding the tracking issues I'd heard about, I didn't have any as long as I didn't turn 180 degrees from the camera. There's a thing called 'Hulk Mode' which allows you to turn without moving in real life. I suggest doing this if you're having trouble lining stuff up.

I tried to put my hand on the table so often. Instinct.

OK, gonna do this tonight. :D

Motion sickness is always going to be a thing in VR unless you can physically move in real space to match what your eyes are seeing, which to an extent roomscale VR games/experiences on PCVR is doing.  There are other experiments like dynamic field-of-view modification where the edges of field of view is narrowed subtlety to improve comfort.

The other option which will be a long way off,is to mess around with our vestibular system by the way of tech or medication,

Guys I think you lot have overlooked Bound.

i bought it when it came out a month or two ago and it was cool.

it is by far and away the best image quality I've seen on the headset. It looks great as you can see from this cleaner than normal VR capture I did...

'The monster is genuinely scary too because everything's so big. She's life size. So bizarre.

cant wait to see what happens when I get on the magic carpet at the end of the levels.......man that was cool enough in 2d.

I'm my view this only shows that a large part of the image quality is complete down to the games.

Yep, I was just coming in to post about Bound. It's lovely in VR, not just in terms of visuals, but in terms of camera - it uses the ages old third-person camera design (as seen in, say, Little Big Adventure 2 way back when) where the camera is static until you move out of view or press a button to snap it behind the player. Which is a terrible camera for traditional games (it's by far the biggest stumbling block to enjoying Little Big Adventure 2 these days), but it turns out is perfect for VR. It means you avoid any motion confusion, as the camera moves by teleporting, while the head tracking means you can look exactly where you need to as you're platforming.

It's just lovely, and really shows how well a platformer/action adventure can work with VR - even in a game that wasn't designed for it from the outset.

Also, Bound is currently in the 'buy two, get 50% off' sale, so you can get it for sub-£10 if you pair it with something very cheap like Fl0w. Or, you know, just get it with another game in the sale that you fancy. Well worth it.

Also also, I really want Little Big Adventure 2 remade for VR. Or the original. Or a new Little Big Adventure. Even if it isn't VR. Just give me more Little Big Adventure, is what I'm saying.

Picked it up this morning on these two recommendations. Another £10 well spent. As is proving to be a regular theme, VR turns it into a GOTY contender and an experience not to be missed.

This has to be experienced in VR.

Anyone able to advise?

I have super stardust ultra, but I get an error message "cannot be selected at this time" when I try to buy the dlc.  I can't buy the full game because I already own. stardust Ultra.

Also what's the cheapest way to get Drive club VR when I own the original on CD and have bought Drive club bikes also?

Does anyone know the price of the dlc for stardust on its own?

And is it cheaper to buy the driveclub season pass then the VR upgrade or just buy the disk from a shop?  Cheers!

Played Driveclub with the wheel last night.

Was fantastic looking around the cars and then sat inside I was just repeating "Look at that! Hahaha....look at THAT! hahahaha!"

Even sat in the Merc A-Class we've got albeit left hand drive. More, "Hahaha....it's the same...hahahaha!"

Tickled me no end.

The racing had me in two minds, I was loving the racing but the low res that everything suffered at a few virtual metres onwards was disappointing.

Could have done with a track map also.

Still, it is great fun and tried a couple of races online which I lost, only due to one error each time. Practice makes perfect.

Gunna try a few more demos now then a bit more Tumble.

In car you can use right and left on the d pad to scroll through some info on the screen. This includes a track map.

I'm no 1 in the world on the first 2 drift events in the Tour :)

I've checked and the Stardust VR upgrade seems to have been removed from the Store. There's only the full version. I'd wait until Monday, might be a fuck-up.

[edit] Maybe try this one? Doesn't show up in the normal VR-overview as well: https://store.playstation.com/#!/nl-nl/games/super-stardust-ultra-vr/cid=EP9000-CUSA05951_00-SSUVRUPGRADE0000

Still no motion sickness for me, excellent. My wife, on the other hand, tried Luge VR and after 5 seconds she ripped off the headset, Ha.

My three year old daughter longer the coral reef thing, wow wow she kept saying.

It's the future!

I get what you're saying but what about something like RIGS. I'm strapped into a mech so my brain should accept that my body is not really physically moving as such but I still get some unusual feelings. It's not really vertigo, I suppose it's more like a travel sickness thing. I am prone to car sickness but not when I'm driving the thing!

I think it's about taking it easy. I've not experienced sickness one little bit. The closest I have come so far is playing robot rescue and feeling myself rebalance when I start moving forward. Moving backward was a little worse so it was a case of right ,I'm ready to move forward,go,right we're ok .now ready to move backward, there we go , fine.

its like balancing a tray of drinks from the bar.

I'm no expert but, if you are moving in a real life in a Mech there would be forces of movement exerted on your body that your inner ear will pick up.  As it is in PSVR, your inner ear is not detecting movement except your eyes see the movement thus their is a conflict and a whole load of weirdness feeling comes over you as a result.  I've never felt sickness but I get incredibly dizzy/weird and have almost fallen over when standing but moving within VR.

Plausible explanation that. Makes perfect sense.

I've been playing Job Simulator quite a lot, including walking around the play area as much as you can. Wasn't too bad but now I've taken it off it feels a bit like I'm on a boat. Everything sways now and again.

Played Rigs, DriveClub, Robot Rescue, Luge, Job Simulator, Tumble, Rush of Blood, The Heist, Scavenger and others and have not had a moment of sickness.

Rigs was the only time so far on pretty much everything. So I can't complain.

Just tried playing with one eye closed. Yup, totally crystal clear for me so I don't see why not.

In fact, I tend to close one eye when playing a shooter like The London Heist to improve my aim. Works like a charm :)

That's great. Anybody else? We only need one more for a full team, but two whole teams to face off against each other would be far better.

RIGS? Yeah I've got that and well up for great multiplayer competition :D

Will set up a dedicated thread for it this weekend so we can discuss and host games. Maybe even set up a tournament of some sorts!

Has been said in the thread already but "light gun games", WELCOME BACK!

The Shooting Gallery stuff in VR Worlds is a revelation!

Also, all I've heard about Scavenger's Odyssey is that it makes people sick, no-one mentioned that it's also pretty fucking AWESOME! :D

This might be a stupid question but how do you exit a level in Tumblr VR!?

It'll automatically move on if you get a gold medal, but otherwise hit Start/Options on the Move controller to bring up the menu where you can quit the level. I assume your best medal is saved!

I really like Tumble, except I don't know which surface of the shape will be facing me when it zaps to my Move. Would be cool if I could work out how to specify a certain surface, as it would really help with some of the more finickity movements. Also, my Move tracking wasn't 100% great for that game. A bit of drift.

Feck it. Been following this thread for the last week or so and used to be a bit of a doubter if I'm honest but the enthusiasm I'm seeing here (and on other sites reviews of it) is off the scale.

Just found one in Game at Halifax so I'm about to fight my way out of Leeds and across Bradford (pretty perilous in itself!) to go grab it!!

I give you all 2 weeks before buyer's remorse sets in. :P

If I get 2 weeks of enjoyment out of it, consistent with my current levels of enjoyment, then it's the best gaming money I've ever spent.

It's also the greatest launch line up ever. Everything is just so much better than I expected. VR worlds especially.
