PlayStation VR

After the disappointment of Thursday and no where having one, my brother who works at Argos has managed to come good and is getting a unit sent to his store to get for me!

Of course, today just happens to be the day when my banks online services are down for maintenance so I can't transfer him the cash for him to just get it and drop it off after work, which is a bit of a pain in the arse, but hey! I'll be on the VR love in hopefully later today!

Can you play all the games sitting down with the controller, or do you have to stand up and move about or duck and jump, etc?

Also, has anyone played with overhead headphones, like the Sony gold headset, for example.

Ive played the majority sitting down, although a number suggest standing up.

Ive used the Sony 2.0 virtual surround headset (via aux) but it makes adjusting the headset tricky. Ive actually preferred the pack in ones!  The binaural audio direct from the headset is so much better than anything the virtual surround ever managed.

Ohoh!!!

stick the PSVR in mahoosive cinema mode, go to YouTube and find this Battlefront clip. S'amazing!

Its a 4K clip so maaaaay give some kind of indication of what the PS4 Pro could bring to PSVR. Unless I'm being incredibly dim.

The PS4 YouTube app doesn't support 4K, but the quality at 1080p should still be slightly better.

Haha!

I assumed it was like 3D glasses, your eyes make it 3D from a composite link.

Well, it doesn't appear to do that thing like in the cinema where the image goes mega blurry if you close one eye.

Yeah,  most games can be played sitting down.

I've been using some overhead headphones without any issues at all.

I'm trying to buy Bound and again the PSN store is refusing to process transactions

@Matthew Kenyon We don't yet know what the Pro is going to bring to the table for VR. From my personal experience I'd definitely advise getting two move controllers. Some games need it and some (Like Rush of Blood) just work better with them.

Rez just needs a dual shock though. You can aim with the move controller but I'd expect head aiming to be much better

Ok so I managed to reserve one at my local Argos last night, I was waiting for Thursday's reservations to release; see if anyone decided not to pick it up and sure enough here we go...I love Argos! I'm so weak-willed, I hate myself

Downside is I can't find Move controllers anywhere :( So what games are worth playing with a controller and which ones are worth waiting for some Moves to come back in stock? I'm actually nervous to set this up, I've spent the last few weeks telling myself I don't need it; what if I was right and it's shit?

Hah, exactly the same. I've just got back from Argos with one. I stupidly checked last night after closing to see if there were any unsold reservations and sure enough, one was there tempting me with its siren song.

I'm now £400 lighter so if it doesn't live up to hype, I'm going to find out where everyone who gave very positive impressions in this thread lives, and I'm going to come round to your houses/flats and ring on your doorbells and run away.

I'm taking one for the team by trying out Sportsbar VR in the next hour or so. If it's shit, you owe me £14.99. :D

(Oh, just to reiterate, if you have a partner at home or if friends come round regularly, then you NEED Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes. It's absolutely amazing and only £10.79 with a Plus membership.)

SUPERHYPERCUBE is great fun, if ludicrously expensive for what it is. It's a shame, because it's a game that literally couldn't work without VR but very difficult to recommend at the price (and the leaderboards suggest poor sales; I'm 350ish despite not getting past level 2).

The game essentially boils down to an adaptation of BBC light entertainment favourite Hole in the Wall, but instead of being hosted by Dale Winton, it's compéred by Tidy Rob from down the pub who can 'sort you out'.

Many others playing RIGS? It would be fun to get some teams together and have a few games together. Assuming that it's easy to organise, I've only done the tutorial so far.

I bought it yesterday but haven't played it yet (only the demo so far). So once I'm out of the tutorial and have a couple of matches under my belt, I'd be well up for joining any Mukkers with the game.

It's the game that for me has made the biggest pricing mistake and that's a real shame. If it was £15.99, I would have impulse-bought it.

Played Driveclub with the wheel last night.

Was fantastic looking around the cars and then sat inside I was just repeating "Look at that! Hahaha....look at THAT! hahahaha!"

Even sat in the Merc A-Class we've got albeit left hand drive. More, "Hahaha....it's the same...hahahaha!"

Tickled me no end.

The racing had me in two minds, I was loving the racing but the low res that everything suffered at a few virtual metres onwards was disappointing.

Could have done with a track map also.

Still, it is great fun and tried a couple of races online which I lost, only due to one error each time. Practice makes perfect.

Gunna try a few more demos now then a bit more Tumble.

That's great. Anybody else? We only need one more for a full team, but two whole teams to face off against each other would be far better.

Joe McSpeed has it and so does ... someone else I can't remember . I'm half tempted but the demo was a mystery with the rig modes and that .

Front doors open, if you ain't blown away. I'll happily take one on the chin from you :D

Im 100% convinced by VR. It's up there as beating the Universal theme park Transformers and Spidey rides, much more immersive and you are in control to some degree.

Just did did the heist. Wow and the shooting range alone will keep me entertained. I just don't have the words to explain how impressed I am.

I got my first feeling of nausea today, my wife and I were playing playroom VR (which is probably one of the best games on it!).

At the end of the mariolike platformer, there is a slide.

Its fast and and comes to an abrupt end.

And then, queeze!  Only lasted a second.
