Thanks to everyone who replied. Unplugging everything for 15 min did the trick, praise the lord

great news , glad to hear it :)

Now keep testing it switching it on and off just in case it's an intermittent problem :D

And in meantime enjoy the VR

I know we've covered this already but I'll reiterate to anyone who hasn't even bothered with the demo - Tumble VR is just wonderful. Such a nice change of pace from other bits and great to have something where I don't feel like I'm missing out if I don't stick the headphones on.

Couple of cracking little moments tonight.

In Robot Rescue (which is awesome! Thanks to everyone who mentioned it), there's a rock that you have to attach the grapple thing and yank out, revealing the rest of the level. Totally got on my knees to go through the arch and have a peak through, so so flippin' cool!

London Heist's shooting range, actually properly aiming down the sights!

This shit is the coolest gaming tech I've ever used. By an absolute mile.

Guys I think you lot have overlooked Bound.

i bought it when it came out a month or two ago and it was cool.

it is by far and away the best image quality I've seen on the headset. It looks great as you can see from this cleaner than normal VR capture I did...

'The monster is genuinely scary too because everything's so big. She's life size. So bizarre.

cant wait to see what happens when I get on the magic carpet at the end of the levels.......man that was cool enough in 2d.

I'm my view this only shows that a large part of the image quality is complete down to the games.

Yep, I was just coming in to post about Bound. It's lovely in VR, not just in terms of visuals, but in terms of camera - it uses the ages old third-person camera design (as seen in, say, Little Big Adventure 2 way back when) where the camera is static until you move out of view or press a button to snap it behind the player. Which is a terrible camera for traditional games (it's by far the biggest stumbling block to enjoying Little Big Adventure 2 these days), but it turns out is perfect for VR. It means you avoid any motion confusion, as the camera moves by teleporting, while the head tracking means you can look exactly where you need to as you're platforming.

It's just lovely, and really shows how well a platformer/action adventure can work with VR - even in a game that wasn't designed for it from the outset.

Also, Bound is currently in the 'buy two, get 50% off' sale, so you can get it for sub-£10 if you pair it with something very cheap like Fl0w. Or, you know, just get it with another game in the sale that you fancy. Well worth it.

Also also, I really want Little Big Adventure 2 remade for VR. Or the original. Or a new Little Big Adventure. Even if it isn't VR. Just give me more Little Big Adventure, is what I'm saying.

Fun seeing the reactions from VR newbies here, remember if you start to feel ill just stop.

Saying that, when I started out with VR I had this urge to push myself to the limits just to see how sick I could get. Thankfully I'm sure there is nothing too insane on PS4 (and all approved on some level) but on the RIFT there were some crazy fairground demos where you spin round and round and upside down etc. I tried to really imagine I was on this thing and fully embrace it, started to feel a bit queezy but kept going until the demo ended. Felt lightly sick for hours afterwards but most importantly I remembered that feeling, and even the thought of VR would bring back those feelings.

So I think for those who have purchased VR and plan to use it loads, you sort of need to get to that place and get a feel for it so you know to stop when you 'that' feeling comes back.

edit :

This is it. HORRIBLE

Rez is sensational. It's a fifteen year old game for god's sake and it's blown my face off. What are the odds of a VR port of Alien Isolation, I need some real horror in my life.

The team must know it'd be a great fit but doubt it'll get the attention needed so long after release, it would be pretty incredible though.

My daughter (she's thirteen)  has claimed for ages now that she can't be scared by fictional things.  She watched Saw despite being told she couldn't,  laughed at me getting scared in Alien Isolation and generally has been acting too big for her boots... So I sat her down and put the Kitchen demo on for her.

:)

muwahahahaha!

Screamed at the end and said there's no way she wants to play the whole game.

Then she wanted to play Rush of Blood and laughed all the way through it.  Ho-hum.

Just played through Batman VR in one standing. Absolutely staggering experience. Unlike any form of entertainment I've ever experienced. When the first aggressive character you meet walks up, leans in and makes eye contact it is genuinely unsettling. And it just gets more immersive from there. Best £15 I've spent on a game/experience, ever.

Mind you, feel a bit weird now. Seriously a bit like my real body is virtual. Batlols.

Only downside i am having is the the mess of cables it has between tv, breakout box and headset  means you can not really leave it in place

or i may have it just setup wrong ?

Batman put a great big smile on my face and a broken glass as i moved to close to desk

How is every one storing it when not in use found the white box every useful to keep the headset in

Well, after playing about the with the camera I managed to get it more stable, and finished Batman.  Fucking hell, that was sensational.

Try going into the system settings and devices and recalibrating the lights On the headset and move controllers.

You know I have a theory that the camera needs to be dead straight and centre. Also I think the more you are centre to the lens view surely it would cut down on the warping the camera sees. I don't know but I got a tiny tiny tiny bit of unwelcome movement standing for Illuminate. It didn't bother me but I finally could see the beginnings of what people were talking about. It happened after I had left the play area briefly a couple of times.

Illuminate was a great concept but a boring story imo
