I just did the eye calibration thing and I'm sitting at 59mm instead of the default 63mm. I could then see quit clearly the pixels. Which is actually a good thing when it comes to getting the sharpest image. Definitely made a difference. I may do it a couple of times just to see what the average measurement for me is.

i think I felt my first weirdness while playing that platformer game in Playroom VR. It's strange cause it's more of a fear of anticipation that you might be getting sick. I feel 100% fine but for some reason had a heightened sense of , oh god am I? Will I? Oh no? Is this what it feels like? Do I fell sick? Is that sickness I feel? ......no it's beans on toast and busting for a shit.

Mum came into the room , so I sat her down and filmed her first ever VR experience. It was a lot of "no I don't like this" "oooohhhh" "this is silly" "this is for children " "ohhh look over there too, ooooooo yes" "look behind me to too .....hello" "no I want to get up now" "do children get nightmares from this, I want to get out" lol

I've just had a good session of Rez and Thumper and now I'm off for my evening run. Motion sickness's final test.

Rez is amazing. Those who've sworn by it all these years but haven't got to experience it in VR? They know nothing of Rez's greatness! NOTHING! A port of an old Dreamcast game running on a supposedly low res screen is the best visual experience of 2016

2nd best after thumper .

ok white as far as I know means that PS4 is on and the processing unit is powered so it isnt the processing unit PSU headset is on.

When you press the headset on switch does the processor unit ping? and does the white light pulse for a few secs then go solid again?

EDIT and wheny uo press it does PS4 say headset is switched on? or off when you switch it off?

Can anyone confirm if the inline power button should sat lower than the other button, i.e not flush to the plastic but down s bit

Yup it's recessed so you don't press it by mistake when changing volume

No ping, no pulse, no message to say switched on. Headset seems stone dead

i assume you have tried plugging it in the other USB slot on the front of PS4

Also assume you have hard reset the PS4 and processor unit all switched off at wall and back on again.

If that lot has been tried then I can't think of anything else .. sorry.

I'm not sure as I haven't seen the games in the flesh, but I'd suspect the games are all running at fully resolution, just some are using anti aliasing and others aren't.

Being the games industry I'd imagine it's desperately trying to work out how to make old games VR compatible so they can be sold again. Unlike hd ports I'd welcome this. Imagine a VR dead space extraction. I don't think my heart could take it.

It's one of those landmark moments right, we're right in it, day 1, my Son was all "I'm not really interested in VR, what's the point of it" on Wednesday, but within seconds of putting the headset on he was totally mind blown.

My 23 year old nephew actually got pure Sweats on playing Rigs, not because of Motion Sickness, because he's scared of heights, he was literally terrified, it's incredible, it's got flaws, the image quality isn't the greatest, but shit you don't care, it's like having bad eyesight or dirty glasses or shit like that, it's not a deal breaker like if you were playing on TV it's just the way it is.

My daughter was totally amazed by Invasion, if you haven't watched that yet, go watch it, superb stuff.

Not quite day 1, some of us have been in VR for quite a while now ;) Loving reading all this love and seeing minds blown though...my mind is still blown with the Rift even now.

Guys I think you lot have overlooked Bound.

i bought it when it came out a month or two ago and it was cool.

it is by far and away the best image quality I've seen on the headset. It looks great as you can see from this cleaner than normal VR capture I did...

'The monster is genuinely scary too because everything's so big. She's life size. So bizarre.

cant wait to see what happens when I get on the magic carpet at the end of the levels.......man that was cool enough in 2d.

I'm my view this only shows that a large part of the image quality is complete down to the games.

Robot Rescue - very cool. Wish they'd fleshed it out and made a game out of it.

Headmaster demo - great.

Thumper demo - great. Very oppressive.

Driveclub VR - Tried it again. Used motion controls. Felt Presence. Amazed.

Only problem with it was your arms get tired holding them up in front of you. Need to buy a wheel.

@Rushy you've done something special here.

Put my wife in it (in an A1, which is what she drives) in cruise mode and she felt sick in about 3 seconds, though.

So happy for the people getting their mind blown by VR for the first time. I've been banging on about it in the Vive thread forever but its impossible to explain the immersiveness you get from playing in VR.  You just tend to want to tell the world about how amazing it is and your likely going to want to plomnk the headset on friends or family. Watching their reaction is just as pleasingly as playing yourself. I get a feeling that VR content will sell strongly as you're going to want to try everything in VR and yearn for your favourite 2D screen game to be made for VR.  There are some exciting developments and indie games in the PC VR space that I hope come to PSVr in the near future.

Yep, it's so good seeing everyone have their mind blown in here. I've been screaming from the rooftops for a long time now, but the Rift thread is mostly tumbleweed just through number of people who have one. But most people just take a 'yeah, sounds great..yawn' approach until they trying it. See all the constant talk of 'the new kinnect' or 'eyetoy' and just another fad like 3D TV's made me want to scream 'have you tried it and opened your mind to the possibilities of where this can be in the next 5-10 years....aRRRRRGGGHHHHH!'.

But now more people get to play and understand, and that makes me happy :)

Opened mine up tonight....no earphones.

Obviously had some of my own, but not the point.

To be honest they're ok quality but I bloody hate that style of earbud. I use my apple ones and the sound on PSVR is actually proper incredible.

Torn on whether to go with this or vive/rift.

I have a pc that can handle vr, but sony seem to be getting some decent (timed?) exclusives.

Psvr is cheaper but it sounds like it will lead to me having to buy a ps4 pro (not really planning on getting one otherwise).

I have a GearVr which is crap (mainly due to overheating after 15 minutes of anything taxing) apart from as a means of watching movies but I want to believe non mobile vr is in a different league.

Has anyone tried gear vr and psvr?

How big is the jump?

A factor you may want to consider if you have a VR ready PC is software cost on PSVR vs Steam / Oculus Store. I get a ton of free content / low cost steam sale stuff on a regular basis, where £20 seems pretty pricey for a game. So in the long run console software will cost you more, most likely. However there are some lovely PSVR games that I'd like to try, and a lot of them will hopefully come to Rift and Vive in the next 6-12 months.
