Full details of the media player update:

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2016/10/12/ps4s-media-player-v2-50-update-360-video-and-photos-flac-and-upscaled-music-support/

"files must be captured in equirectangular format by a 360-degree omnidirectional camera."

So the bog standard google cardboard videos (the ones with an image for each eye) don't work.

We'll all move into actual reality.

I had a go on one and it' made me want to get it even more, but knowing I have to wait til December is a killer!

Woah actual reality? You can do that?

Nah it sounds scary man, would rather sit in a dark room in my virtual reality!

Getting Thumper, Job Simulator and one other. Can't decide between Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes or Sportsbar VR - No one seems to ever mention Sportsbar VR, is it rubbish? Can't find much about it.

I can't comment from playing but it looks limited. And if I am honest they are the sorts of things I would rather go out and do. (They are activities you might do with friends etc).

I have heard a lot of hype about keep talking though so that would be worth checking out over the two I reckon

I'm buying Keep Talking now because I've got a few mates round this weekend. Really want SportsBar, but that'll have to wait for a bit.

I've heard it's great fun, but people on reddit have had some tracking issues. Make of that what you will.

I may take one for the team with SportsBar. Will decide later.

Ace. I think I'll get it regardless - it looks so good. And it'll be ace to have rllmuk darts nights in there.

Even if the tracking is fucked, they'll patch it. Right?

And yeah, some darts, some pool, some beers that we desperately try to find with our headsets still on and spill all over the carpet...

I don't see how the tracking can be fucked for one game and not others? Probably down them moving around out near the edge of the play area.

One thing happened to me last night was Tumble VR suddenly got all weird. When the tracking goes on that you lurch around and feel sick. What happened was the floor light behind me that I had turned off had turned on on a schedule so was screwing around with the tracking.

If we get a second gen version of this, I hope they ditch the camera and Move controllers for something new. They're the weak link.

Get RIGS. It's the best launch game really.

Ignore the poor demo - it doesn't do a good job explaining how RIGS works. And once you find that out, it is absolutely glorious!

I was sitting in the pub with frank and tried to recline on the seat. Nealy fell off the sofa.

never mind when I tried to lean on the table...

I waved mickie off with the security passes he got for us in my hand.

pretty fucking special, as an experience.

Also, Rez Infinite just got an 'ESSENTIAL' on Eurogamer:

Back when it was released, there were some complaints that the 60 minutes it takes to see through Rez constituted poor value for money. 15 years on, I think they're enough to justify investing in a VR headset.

Damn right!

is there a decent tutorial then? Cos the demo just chucks you in deepend and it is tricky to understand.

I am totally torn between Rigs and Battlezone for my "big game" purchase.

Yeah, there's a great tutorial. I read a review or heard in a video that the tutorial was overly long. Seemed alright to me, about 20 mins but fun at the same time. Can't wait to try some proper combat later.

oh and if anyone is wavering on Rez? Don't it is immense utterly compelling. It is a cliche but even though it is 15 yrs old this is the way it deserves to be experienced.

We've all bought it before at least once or twice and yes that pricetag is a little heavy but it is honestly brilliant. In most of the games in certain moments I can make out the pixels abit or some shimmer, Rez is the first game where my immersion is 100%

The use of head movement to tag your targets is just lovely as well.

I just watched the new Star Wars trailer on the headset. Cinematic mode is the future of watching movies at home. Unfortunately, it's not the present at this resolution. So close to being the true killer app.

How did you watch that? :)
