Yes but the videos I've seen are quite severe screen movement wise, your head is constantly looking to each target while on the pad the screen stays still unless you push the edges. I'm wondering if it's less pronounced movement when you're 'in' it.

There are two modes. A 'new to vr' mode which has less movement and a proper VR mode where you move around more.

I failed the first mission in that mode. Not actually gone back to it yet but will probably play in the easier mode.

The answer is yes. Watching people play VR is always much worse than controlling the game for yourself. In REZ the view is nearer and narrower which is a balancer in the fact that it's much easier to target with your head rather than the stick.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes has been a lot of fun tonight. Volume's VR mode is a bit pap, but was still worth it to be in a high-rise skyscraper. Thumper is ridiculously good, and TumbleVR is universally loved by all that played it.

Damn, the Until Dawn demo is all sorts of sick (except motion sick!). Scary stuff just works so well in VR. Just waiting for Rig update before diving into that.

Has anyone else had trouble with the touchpad in the Playroom? I used it to fire the initial firework but once in a game it wouldn't let me put coins in the slot or fling stuff about. Restarted the PS4 and headset and got the same problem again - worked then didn't work. Dodgy pad?

I just shareplayed to my friend and it worked. Obviously it looked awful on his side but I was having an amazing time.

There is some really cool stuff in Playroom. They have something there with it's style.

I'm going to have to get Tumble, it's fairly priced and a great experience moving from standing to sitting.

It's still blurry as hell in general though.....

My thinking on this is next year Sony will release a PS VR simply with a screen and tidier setup of wires with a resolution of the PS PRO before it gets it's checkerboard upscaling. Or at least inline with the oculus or rift.

Oh yeah, I have my iPad Pro on a flex stand thing on my arm chair left side. I thought it was cool to head but a building in that Playroom game and of course got some very realistic 'feedback' lol

We are living in the future aren't we.

I challenge anyone to play Thumper and not be impressed, Batman and not gawp at that opening shot of Gotham or laugh like a kid at collecting pods from the PlayRoomVR grabber. In fact if anything PlayRoomVR is probably my favourite experience so far!

Just brilliant fun. Stupid slow charging Move controllers though, grrrr. I want to be Batman (went flat just as I got to the Batcave...!).

Thieves.

Anyway, there are a few kinks which really need to be ironed out. My main bugbear is not being able to navigate most of the menus in games with the move controllers. Tumble seems to have the right approach here - you look around with the cursor and just hit a button to select.

PS VR Worlds is a complete joke in this respect. You have to select which game you want to play with the pad, then once you're in select your control method and if you choose two move controllers, you then have to bugger around trying to select things by pulling the trigger and flicking the move controller. This makes it almost impossible to select the middle option in a list of three.

I fucking love that grabbing machine in the PlayRoom, it looked so real, it was such a mind blowing moment having that entire room around me.

Might try it out in that case. Just played London Heist for a bit...bloody brilliant. Basic but really shows off the feeling of presence. Sat in the pub smoking a cigar...I was literally puckering up and puffing!

Then a bit of a shoot out where I was ducking and shooting like a loon. Man. I feel like a 12 year old again.

Ha, I totally did that as well, then was trying to tap the ash into the ashtray...... This is like that Half-life moment when you were suddenly able to move around the train. Simple stupid things like fiddling with a lighter, or throwing coffee mugs over cubicle walls in offices just have me giggling like a loon. The Heist is such a crap traditional game, nothing to it and silly acting and most of it is effectively cutscene but it's such a laugh to be in the game. Can't wait to see where they go with this technology, it's fascinating.

Well those past few hours have been a total gaming revelation. Genuinely can't remember the last time I've been so continually amazed by a piece of tech (and its software).

Yes it's got a few issues (mainly resolution related) but fucking hell I'll happily live with them if it means I can continue to have the kind of experiences I've had this evening.

Even at £20+ I fear Job Simulator is going to have to be purchased.. It's an absolute joy!

All this and I have yet to even try Batman, Driveclub, Rigs and Rush of Blood.

Not enough love for the Rigs demo in here. If only for the bit where your mech(a) rises up through the floor to gawp at, and then getting hoisted into the cockpit.  Just immense, literally.  Actual game seems pretty polished too.

No VR sickness here but my mind is swimming with the possibilities of this thing, I'm in love!  Fucking hell this is gen1 tech n'all, imagine what this shit will be like in a few years!

Tempted by VR Worlds just for the other Ocean Descent scenarios. So lush.

Thought I'd up the ante a bit.

Tried Eve Valk - really short demo but this really is a dream come true for 12 year old me. No motion sickness either despite rolling around and all sorts. A Star Wars game could be incredible and a real system seller.

RIGs- no idea what I'm doing. Great little intro. Examining the RIG was pretty cool. Great sense of scale. Game itself gave my stomach some lurches falling but still no motion sickness.

So then tried the sick simulator, Driveclub. Yep. First bend where you're climbing a bit and immediately stopped. Have a little bit of a headache now.

Only managed to play an hour or so all in...bloody brilliant. Yet to know if there's any depth to any of the games but don't regret forking out at all.

It's one of those landmark moments right, we're right in it, day 1, my Son was all "I'm not really interested in VR, what's the point of it" on Wednesday, but within seconds of putting the headset on he was totally mind blown.

My 23 year old nephew actually got pure Sweats on playing Rigs, not because of Motion Sickness, because he's scared of heights, he was literally terrified, it's incredible, it's got flaws, the image quality isn't the greatest, but shit you don't care, it's like having bad eyesight or dirty glasses or shit like that, it's not a deal breaker like if you were playing on TV it's just the way it is.

My daughter was totally amazed by Invasion, if you haven't watched that yet, go watch it, superb stuff.

Yeah Invasion is pretty cool. Didn't watch it all but a great showcase for what animated cinema could be.

Like you say, it's day 1 and I'm so glad I got a ticket.

So first collective impressions are that ....

Driveclub will probably make you feel ill?

The Playroom is really cool!

The tracking issues are almost not there?

This IS the future?

We don't really want to pay much for these experiences.

Unsure of the longevity

The resolution isn't great overall

No ones going to play Kitchen

PsVR Worlds is a good show piece for the tech

Its a mess of cables but can be tidied away with some effort.

Rez is amazing?

Battlesone is cool?

Only 1 of us is sending it back?

Most people managed to pick one up

I don think I have been this wowed by a hardware release since playing PGR3 on launch day for 360 . I have spent the whole afternoon and evening laughing and saying "oh my fucking God" and " no fucking way" .

i really hope this takes off in a big way because this needs to be the future ,maybe not in this iteration but investment now means future development .
