The biggest issue I see with the tech is one I suspect the Pro was partly built for. It's very low rez. For most stuff it's not really that much of a negative (And Rez positively shines) but for games that are trying to look more realistic like Drive Club and something like VR Luge it's really noticable. Good job I have a pro preordered :)

A Pro won't increase the resolution of the headset you know.

The "looking through tights" effect is normal even after you've removed the lens protectors. This called a screen door effect and is basically what you get when you the pattern produced by the screen pixels become obvious. The effect is usually more pronounced in large similarily coloured areas.

With PSVR I found the deep sea dive to make the effect very apparent. When there's more on-screen (colours, patterns, etc.) it is easier to ignore.

But no, your headset isn't faulty, this comes with the virtual territory. (Unfortunately.) Will probably be solved when we get 32K VR screens or something similar. If it bothers you immensely, I'd suggest skipping VR entirely at the moment.

Yep, it's pretty funny reading these comments about looking through tights etc. It's just SDE, nothing to worry about.

If it helps some people out there who are finding the limitations of the screen irritating, I found with the Rift that after the initial 24 hours with it, you soon forget about these things if the content grabs you. While the Rift has generally pretty spiffy screens,  the god rays were HIGHLY distracting at first. Now, I never even notice.

I am so jealous of all you new VR people.

Thats what we like to hear!

Over an hour's play and I'm feeling no sickness. I've been bopping my head to the music in Rez, looking left, right and all over the place in DriveClub and jumping around like someone who doesn't quite know what they're doing in RIGS.

Thumper and Rez are the ones to turn doubters into believers, but when I looked up at my mech in RIGS, I knew it was love. Even if PSVR isn't powerful enough VR for some, as a proof of concept, it's a strong argument for the medium to eventually go mainstream.

So I haven't been a total knob with the lens film then.  It's def SDE but, yeah, it's really a minor quibble in the grand scheme.  I mean this is really the first mass market iteration.  2nd and 3rd gen (if it gets traction) will be mind blowing.

It will however potentially allow for super sampling. With the Rift and super sampling turned on it really feels like a 1.5 version of the headset. An example is Pinball, that I was finding too blurry to read the DMD on the back glass clearly, now with super sampling I can read it perfectly. The resolution of the Rift hasn't increased but it sure FEELS like it has, and looks like it. It's like some form of black magic....so expect anything that super samples (assuming they go that route with PS4) to look much much sharper.

Has anyone had headset tracking issues similar to giant bombs? Theirs was drifting forward and back I think

mine is totally rock solid and the controller jitters a little but rarely. I am using it near a desk with no free space etc and it just works without mucking around with lights...

it is a shame that their stream was so negative as I know it put a few off on here.

Tumble has been fine and Rez is super-responsive - it feels incredibly natural to just look and aim. I do find myself wanting to refocus the view between sessions but I think that's just me making sure everything's still good. :P

Interesting, I see.

Haha, holy shit I just very nearly gave myself a heart attack. Was dicking around with that video app and decided to watch the Lion King but the sound levels were a little off kilter. Cue a woman dressed as a baboon inches from my face yelling 'Aaaaaaaarsene Wengaaaaaaar!'.

You know what giant bomb did us a favour I reckon because , for me at least , it dampened expectations and I was expecting a jarring experience . But it's absolutely spot on I mean it tracks 1:1 and smooth as you like . If the compromise is the resolution I'll take that.

Yeah horror games are a massive fat no for me. Can't even play them on a normal TV. Total pussy.

Try the demo it's more fun than outlast and it's ilk. Cos it's a muddafukkin light gun game,. Some contact Namco and let's get a modern Point blank on this shit. I too rarely play scary games.

Just tried Job Simulator. Amazing.

It really is.

Driveclub VR made me feel really quite poorly. Don't think I'll be going near it again any time soon. Starting off in BAC monos is perhaps not the greatest idea in the world.

Played some Transformers with it on. Really works quite well. Not as blurry as I thought it would be.

You can really see the screen door effect in dark games like Rush of Blood but you rapidly forget it's there when things are trying to rip your face off.

Rush of blood is excellent with move controllers. Bit juddery but still feels nice. Really atmospheric and the roller coaster parts make me want a roller coaster sim

PlayroomVR is impressive as fuck, it's basically if Nintendo done a bundle game with a VR headset and it ticked all the boxes, there's a super impressive Mario 3D land clone in Robot Rescue, Luigi's mansion clone in haunted house, it's just incredible and looks incredible as well.

I've got a VR headset for my note 3.

It's a completely different league.  I think the hardware is sound on the VR headset/Android phone combo but it's the game and experience quality increase that stands out.  I watched someone scream and leap out of the way with the until dawn demo.  Amazing.
