I've tried with the 2.0 headset, you can do it, but it's fiddly. You kinda have to push 'em further back than you normally would, then push them forwards.

Currently trying beats as they are smaller...

Batman is working fine now I'm standing....

Drive Club next...

If you venture to the Japanese store you can download some Godzilla movie thing and the Resident Evil themed Arc-En-Ciel VR music video for free.

There is some other strange stuff like "The 100 Warriors of Japan" and a Dangarompa VR experience but those are all paid for.

TumbleVR reminds me of Boom Blox on the Wii,simple tactile fun.

Just had another blast on Driveclub and while pootling around in an Audi was just fine, getting into that Peugeot Electric sports car was just a little bit much! Although I am finding the driving in VR incredibly easy (even after switching off brake assist which is on by default). It doesn't carry your clubs over either, gonna go and get my wheel out now, try it properly :)

It arrived at 12:30. Since then I've set it up (probably around 40 minutes, including unpacking plus calibration), since when I've been solidly playing; a few of the demos as a gentle introduction (the Harmonic visualiser thing, then Alumette), then stuck on Rez. Rinsed it - areas 1-5 complete to just under 100% (stupid Area 5, with got 99.6% shutdown...), then Area X completed. It is just perfect for VR, ideal in every way. Rez is a game that can only be improved by extra immersion, and you can't get more immersive than VR!

The only downside is that the VR makes it even easier, though knowing the game will have helped too - I only managed 91% shutdown in area X, after all. Loved it, and despite playing with a cold, no motion sickness from any of it, so I'm happy about that! Blistering headache though, but as I'm currently getting that when looking at any screen for a prolonged period thanks to the aforementioned cold I'm not about to blame PSVR for that.

I raced home at lunchtime and saw the DPD van leaving my road. Aaaaaargh! But luckily the guy had left the PlayStation VR in the neighbour's shed as requested if I wasn't in.

35 minutes later after cable spaghetti junction and trying to fit my way around the short HDMI cable I had connected to my PS4, I was putting on the headset. It seemed surprisingly hard to get in focus, but once it was there, it was fine. I had to go back to the office shortly afterwards, annoyingly, so I only managed to play for 10 minutes.

So:

My reaction upon loading The Playroom VR: FUUUUUUUCKKKKKK!!!

My reaction after loading Rez and looking down on the title screen: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

I can't wait for tonight. A proper VR gaming session awaits. And my Move controllers arrived from Amazon, yay!

Initial impressions as a VR virgin.....blown away. As someone with a lazy eye who couldn't see 3d on a 3DS, perhaps I'm easily impressed with new tech like this.

It actually did a great job of measuring my eyes. I did it manually and it was bang on. The picture is crisp, but not exactly amazing to look at. I thought it was fucked first of all because I hadn't noticed the protective film on the lenses....the shame :(

Only thing stopping me playing now is that climbing around the back of the TV sorting cables had me hot and sweaty, and the lenses seem to steam up far too easily.

I tried Driveclub and it can fuck right off. I used a drum stool I had to hand to sit on and nearly fell on my arse trying that demo!

One thing, is there a way to centre the main image? I think the camera is very slightly tilted to one side (the floor slopes a little where my TV is sat I think. So the main PS4 screen looks very slightly titled to one side. I'd like an option to reset it to what I see as being central. It is fine in games, but niggly nonetheless.

Tried that Play VR room thing first. Got to admit I actually laughed out loud when I turned around playing the UFO grab thing :D

But yeah, the sense of being there is amazing. Especially how it shows the pad in front of you. Everything looks like you could reach out and touch it. I'd like to see a game in the vein of Mario 64 though with lots of flat colours etc to hide the low res of the screen. But so far I'm loving it :)

Not tried any of the other VR offerings so coming to this as a complete VR virgin but wow. It's pretty bloody impressive.  I only tried the underwater demo, Thumper and Battlezone. They all raised a big smile and Battlezone is incredibly immersive...looking around the cockpit is just something else.  Activating your weapon and seeing it pop out of the ship above you made me laugh out loud.  No motion sickness in Thumper but a bit in the Underwater demo.  Looking over the edge of the cage in particular. Battlezone was not too bad for the first time I've tried VR.  Being in a swivel chair helps quite a bit i.e. swivelling as you turn left or right.

The bad: took a while to calibrate for me, screen door effect was very noticeable to me but no way a deal breaker - as someone else said, it's like looking through a really thin transparent piece of material sometimes. I might struggle with the motion sickness but not as bad as I feared.

The good: flawless tracking, total immersion, comfy headset and, well, it's fucking actual VR in my home!

If this is popular and the tech gets continued investment it's pretty terrifying/awesome where we'll be in a few years.

Edit:  In case the screen door comment is putting someone off, it turns out that the really noticeable screen door effect that was like looking through a really thin transparent material was in fact me looking through a really thin transparent piece of material aka the protective film on the lens.

Rez and Thumper are immense. Nothing on Vive and Oculus is like that (well, technically Thumper is, I guess).

This really is a solid launch for me. Driveclub VR works pretty sweet. BattleZone and RIGS are 'heavy class' and require a bit more training for me. Great stuff.

Pleased to say that after a couple of hours play that everything is working beautifully. No tracking issues at all so far and my move controllers are staying perfectly still and doing what I want them to. I did go through the extra calibration steps in the PS4 setting which would've helped, I imagine.

I was worried after that Giant Bomb stream but it's all been perfect.

I'm at work now with a rather large headache. This is a normal launch day no sleep headache though. I just need some rest.

one thing I wondered....do you think people's motion issues with Driveclub are down to using the dual shock ? I imagine with a wheel things would be a lot less twitchy and game like.

Yeah - hold down the option button for a few seconds. It's really useful and I often find it helps in between games/demos

Oh God.  I've been playing with the film on.  Might explain the screen door effect I described.  What a knob.

umm.. I did that too

also, the only calibration setup I seemed to do was to make sure my head was in the white box and then adjust the text for blurriness. What's all this about distances and eyes and stuff?

Try looking in systems settings or the quick menu by holding down the ps button

Ooof, just had Job simulator crash on me which wasn't a pleasant experience.

It's still absolutely mind blowing to

play (when it isn't crashing). They've done a great job of scaling down the space from the Vive demo I tried earlier this year.
