I'm convinced that by the time I make my final £36 payment in 11 months time it's going to be half the price. It's a price I'm willing to pay in order to be there from day one. It genuinely feels like the beginning of something new and exciting and I owe it to my 8-year-old self to participate.

wowza this is impressive kit

So far tried

Rez demo (loooovely) - will buy

Thumper (ditto but to me the pixels were more noticeable) - Will buy

Playroom - tried the robot grabber which was fun and lauhged out loud when I turned around it is so immersive. I then tried the platformer thing and felt my stomach do a slight weird flip as the camera moved forward as my brain was confused that the viewpoint moved forward and I did not. I don't feel ill but a bit of a weird sensation.

No tracking issues of headset and controller I needed to press options a couple of times to get it pointing straight now and then.

Given my reaction to the platformer I am going to give battlezone and others a try but I'm going to see if I can acclimatise a bit!

Blurriness? ummm yes I guess the resolution does make things look a little blurry but (to me) it is a marvel and witchcraft that it works as well as it does!

The headset is super comfy and I wear glasses.

I gotta be honest it as your statements about this yesterday that were pretty much the clincher for me. I cant not let my inner 8yr old have Virtual reality.

Are we perhaps talking about slightly different things? I'm yet to get it home, but from what I have read, you need to be sat exaxtly 70cm away from the camera for it to scan your face and log the distance between each of your eyes.

It's the distance from the camera I plan to measure, not the distance between my eyes. :)

Ah, doh!  I had presumed for some reason there was, in addition to the 70cm from camera thing, a way to just manually set the eye distance yourself!! Idiot, I am.

Definitely worth mentioning. I wear glasses too and had absolutely no problems with comfort. It's really light aswell, to the point where I wondered what my £350 has been spent on.

I can remember when I first tried the rift at playexpo a few years ago, think they were running the original dev kit 1 though it was blocky as hell you still got the sense of presence. If PSVR is a step upfrom  that i will be happy.. 1 hour to go until i can leave work..

Yep, that's basically what I've always had, never gotten genuinely ill or anything, but definitely feel very 'weird' sometimes.  If it gets a bit strong (the 'weird') then just take a break.

So comparisons to the Rift are very favourable. The headset is just gorgeous (darling). It's lighter, has sexy rubber everywhere, and I love the fact that it has flaps over the bridge of your nose to block light out which is a major annoyance on the Rift. The res is clearly a bit lower but the screendoor effect is slightly better - it's kinder like looking through a very fine material rather than a grid effect. I did struggle a bit to get a sharp image, but that's also the case for me on the Rift and I think it might be somewhat down to the individual.

Battlezone demo - Very good. Surprised I didn't get any motion sickness but it was only 5 minutes or so.

Rez demo - still not my thing but works well in VR.

Eve demo - very short, seems a bit basic. (Oh and I've played Gunjack on the Rift. Very hard to recommend.)

Thumper full game - omg this is right up my street. I don't think VR adds a great deal to it but the game is wicked.

Much better second session. I seemed to have more success with the text being clearer after going through the "eye distance" option (and the other one which I've forgotten the name of).

Battlezone - Amazing. Seriously. I thought it looked boring as hell from prerelease coverage but it just feels so good to play. The demo is just perfect as well, every 10 seconds it adds another layer of "omfg" and the sense of speed as you're zipping around in a fucking tank is amazing.

VR Worlds - only did the ocean one, but that was really cool too. Basically on the opposite end of the spectrum of Battlezone but still really cool. Made me feel a bit sweaty and nervous (I'm not a big fan of going deep underwater. I discovered that while doing my diving lessons. Ideal timing).

Ok, been playing since 12. So far, so amazing.

Firstly, no nausea. Closest I got was when the rollercoaster started throwing me around in Rush Of Blood, but I think that was more almost like loosing your stomach kinda feeling like you'd actually have on a rollercoaster.

I've briefly tried:

The Deep - shark attack - bloody loved it.

London Heist - Played the first 2 sections - bloody loved that too.

Rush Of Blood - Might be my favourite - Love light gun games, and this was so much more accurate and beautifully detailed.

Rez - Just stunning - Not played it for years - couldn't get past the first boss, so I'm clearly doing something wrong.

Thumper - really beautiful, but not too much on the instructions front. You have to switch the mode to VR after the game starts in normal TV mode.

Batman - Beautiful, and lots more content than I thought - This doesn't work sitting down - my utility belt was kinda in front of me.

Here They Lie - No sickness problems in this either - you walk where you look.... Seems interesting so far.

Also played the Eve Valkyrie demo - just to see if I get sick spinning around - all good - I might get it.

So other than Batman, which I'm sure will be fine if I stand, it's been a fantastic experience which I'd recommend to anybody...

I just watched Hatsune Miku perform LIVE and waved my pad about like a glow stick.. and I fucking loved it.

Shame.  Sweet wonderful adult male shame.

She is the number one princess in the world after all.

I have it downloaded too.

Has anybody found anywhere selling storage cases for the helmet?

Im just using the box it came in at the moment. Theres one on Amazon for £30 that's released in November. Just a nice zip-up soft case.

Also, remember not to leave the headset in sunlight - I've heard the lenses can be easily damaged that way.

UPDATE

Battlezone demo - Brilliant absolutely immersive. And zero weird effects I think having cockpit around me helped! - Will buy but maybe a pricedrop first? £50 is a bit steep and I prefer digital.

DriveClub vr demo - No adverse affects but it does look a bit of a blurry mess at times. It's as if the backgrounds are too "busy" very playable though!

Kitchen Demo - I hadn't played this before and Holy fucking christ NOPE. I am generally a bit nervy around games like outlast but this was on another level, If I can handle the movement in Resi 7 then I may well jhave a heart attack!

Overall so far just on demos it's making a fantastic first impression. The graphics, when more complex, seem to be hmmm blurry seems wrong word, shimmery? At the edges.

Mine's arrived at home! But I'm in London, and don't get back until tonight.

GAH.

I've got Loading Human and SUPERHYPERCUBE waiting for me at home, and maybe Batman tomorrow. And then possibly Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes for the weekend.

Robot rescue in VR Playroom has made me happy in a way that I havent felt since Outrun 2.

Because of her awful internet my other half has only playroom to get stuck into and she is loving Robot Rescue! The Playroom does seem like a good starting point to try VR.

alrighty then!

After a couple of hours playing:

-Definitely amazing, very immersive, especially Job Simulator

-Setting up was easy. Putting the headset on is pretty tricky (I kept getting hair trapped in my view)

-My glasses steamed up a bit at points

-No nausea up until a few games of Superhypercube. I don't know if it's the game or because I'm genuinely poorly at the moment.

You may find a hairnet is your friend (seriously!)

I've had an hour break and tried to play again, but I can't handle it. Like I've said before, I have some flu or other that's doing the rounds at the moment, so I'm hoping and praying it's all down to that. Better have some soup and lie down for a bit.
