With everyone cancelling so many good-to-decent shows, Amazon have decided to go the opposite way and are doing a second season of The Terminal List. And a prequel with Taylor Kitsch.

Quick shout out for The Consultant on Prime.

Christoph Waltz playing a diabolical boss suddenly taking over a mobile game developer. Creepy, silly, blackly comic, and great fun. 3 eps in, and I’m hooked.

He is perfect for these type of roles, with such charisma, calmness and barely veiled menace. The rest of the cast are good too.

Watch it.

Just finished The Consultant. Some thoughts.

Spoiler

Slightly dissatisfied with the ending. It builds nicely through the season and gets super dark at times, super silly at others (the gold skeleton, come on) and then has a sort of damp squib ending. Waltz was amazing throughout of course. The other two leads were solid. But the story lost its impetus by the last few eps. It was fine overall, but never met its promise, or stuck the landing.

7.5/10

Halfway thru the consultant and my guard is up for it being drivel, but not sure yet.

It’s nice and tight in terms of the scope of the story, no side quests or timefiller which is good, but not convinced it’s going to be satisfying in terms of what is actually going on as they reveal the events.

Finished the Consultant, what a load of horseshit.

It sets up a load of interesting stuff then doesn't make the slightest attempt to explain any of it really, which is an easy way out of coming up with something conclusive I guess.

Won't waste my time with a second if they make it, and very much in the school of wouldn't have wasted my time with the first if I'd known.

Biggest plus point is Waltz and at least the eps are short and there is only 8 of them, Netflix would have spun this out to 12 hour long things.

Watched the first couple of episodes of ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’ and would thoroughly recommend it.

Simply put it is ‘Fleetwood Mac’ the TV show, and since I am a huge fan of The Mac and have always enjoyed band origin stories, I was never not going to enjoy this.

I watched this too and thought it was ace, the music, the clothes, the acting, brilliant.

I was gutted when I realised only the first 3 episodes have been released. So much so that I went and read the book that it's based on.

I guess now I've spoilered the series for me, ho hum. I'll still watch it obviously.

New episodes drop each Friday and there are 10 in total I believe.

It is a bit annoying though being unable to binge it all, although I have so far resisted the urge to buy the Kindle version of the book for a mere 99p so far!!!

Yeah, every Friday.

I didn't resist the 99p Kindle price. It's a very good book. Written in interviews only.

Watched the first Daisy Jones last night and it was surprisingly excellent, music drama is hard to get right as either the tunes suck (they didn't), the performances suck (they didn't) the crowds look awful (they didn't). The period stuff also looked great too. Only disconcerting thing is the usual of having actors playing 2 different ages with a big gap.

Don't know the book at all so not sure if it's an exact Fleetwood Mac story with changed names or just a similar tale of 70s mega bands with the drug/booze/shagging each other thrown in. Obviously the band make up in the first ep that is coming together has strong parallels and the 2 female band members are on the money.

Really enjoying that Daisy Jones and The Six. It’s cheesy and corny as hell and stuffed with every old chestnut in the book, but it’s such a delicious corny old chestnut cheese stew that it is utterly compelling. Thanks @Waggo for the recommendation!

The ‘old’ versions of themselves though…oh lor!

really enjoying Daisy Jones too, it maybe cliche but it's real cliches of what happens in bands, not made up tv cliche of cops who break the rules or rubbish like that.

mind blown though, lead singer Billy Dunne actor is British and was Oswald Mosely in Peaky Blinders.

Does any one else have this issue on Prime video.

Often I will look at a film and the description will say UHD HDR yet when I actually stream the film all I get is 1080p SDR. My connection is plenty fast enough, 70Mbps, and I never have any problem with Disney or any other service, I also never have the issue when playing Amazon's own shows it just seems to be third party films on Prime.

I'm not sure if the shows are mislabeled and are not actually 4k, if Amazon is throttling the connection on their end or if there is some thing wrong with the content delivery not delivering the correct stream. For example I went to watch Speed this evening and it quite clearly says HDR UHD in the description but all I can get is HD, I switched to Disney Plus and it streams Dolby vision no problem.

Speed isn't on Amazon Prime in 4K, Amazon are incredibly inept at labelling things correctly.

It's also not rated 18.

How do you know if something is really 4k then? If you can not trust the listing. Is it just trial and error?

Anyone watching Swarm? A new psychological horror from Donald Glover about a superfan of a pop-star, modelled on Beyonce, that's getting good reviews. Gonna watch the first one this evening.

Yep, really enjoying it. There’s nearly always feeling of unease just bubbling under the surface before everything explodes. Can be funny as fuck as well. Dominique Fishback is fantastic. I’m never quite sure which way her character is going to swerve. Two episodes left.

Really looking forward to the last couple of eps of Daisy Jones & The Six, absolutely loved it and such a surprise hit for me as knew nothing of the book.

They've nailed the period and music so well, I love a few of the songs but the River is possibly my favourite, could be straight out of that classic Fleetwood Mac era and it's such a belter with the tight guitar and the two of them singing over each other, Daisy in full Stevie Nicks flow.

Thought the last ep showing Daisy's meltdown gradually on tour was brilliantly done, must have been so hard logistically too with so many venues and locations to get right for the period.

Yup, been really enjoying this. I do see where the Fleetwood Mac comparisons come in but they are very tangental. They've got the style and mood of the era down to a tee.
