Last Spring we did a long night of online racing with both 'members' of the GT Sport Monday Night Racing Club and @Parappa's friends, which was an absolute blast. Definitely up for revisiting that sometime soon :D

I would love to take part if this is repeated!

It should be repeated! :D

I'm loving this despite a couple of caveats. First, the good.

- It generates those wonderful, random, hilarious, memorable and emergent moments. My favourite so far is limping around 3 laps (of 6) in 10th place in the hope of everyone all crashing out to a DNF. Last lap, avoiding the vehicle husks littering the straights like an elephant's graveyard, and watching as my position ticks down to 2nd only to have my last opponent launch from an overpass in the opposite direction, head right towards me and wipe me out like something out of Freebie and the Bean. I lost but it felt noble.

- No race ever feels the same.

- Fantastic physics and track designs. Love the figure 8 ones which promote head-on collisions and complete panic.

However, I am finding the career progression system lacking. It just feels a bit flat and un-motivated. Playing on manual, expert AI and realistic damage is definitely best for a challenge but being able to restart any race after a crash robs it of any real jeopardy. Perhaps this aspect improves on the later championships? I'm only on the second.

Also, when it comes to the destruction derbys I end up avoiding contact for the first couple of minutes then mopping up the limping 1 damage bar wrecks for an easy win. Perhaps not in the spirit of the game but it feels like a flaw to be exploited..?

Do we have any active Wreckfest players on the forum?

I bought this recently on PC, curiosity got the better of me and I went over my usual £20 game budget - it’s brilliant. I’ve even bought the DLC, which is practically unheard of.

I’m dipping in to online races semi-regularly, haven’t actually won one yet but it’s always good fun (usually a case of just trying to survive until the end).

I don't know if this is crossplay but if it is give me a ping if you like. I'm on PS4 'mawdlin'.

After really enjoying it I've started to move on to other things. Everything is superb in this game except for the single-player campaign which has been thrown together with little thought for encouraging motivation and rewards.

They really need to get the frame rate sorted on the PS4 pro - perhaps lowering the resolution and giving us a performance option

I have never really had any issues with it on mine.  Sometimes it can drop a bit but certainly nothing that spoils the enjoyment.

There is no crossplay unfortunately, I would pick up the PS4 version as well but there appears to be performance issues and I'm unsure how large the community is on that platform.

Performance issues are nealry non existant having played it for months on line over lockdown and the community was pretty decent.  Could do with some more dedicated servers though (PS4)

PC version has some amazing mods though.

Picked this up in the Steam sale
and it’s fantastic so far. Loved the Flatout games, Demolition Racer and original Destruction Derby so this is right up my alley.

Looking forward to playing a bit more online - have been checking out some Youtubers play and it’s such fun to watch.

good to read the PS5 positive impressions as got one of those coming from Game shortly - I'd read the load times are greatly reduced

Yeah they seem mostly a lot better and although its still 30fps its locked and I have yet to see any drops that I saw on my Pro.  I have played it on a standard PS4 and its not great in comparrison but perfectly playable.

Recently picked this up to play with pals and having a right laugh. Are the season pass(es) worth it?

some of the cars are great - not needed for single player but come in handy for multiplayer.  They are sometimes on sale as well.

I did a quick search for clues and found this. Nothing concrete, but there is hope:

The Game Pass announcement would seem like the perfect time to make this a reality, wouldn't it? Even if not, I really liked what I played of the trial version they had up.
