The first season of Justin Roilands new animated, scifi comedy Solar Opposites is out. It's about a family of aliens who crash land on Earth and try to adapt to their new surroundings. I watched the first one and it was pretty good. Like a less cynical Rick and Morty with some good scifi jokes. Anyone watching?

I really like this. It's much sillier than Rick and Morty and takes a few episodes to get going but The Wall stuff is incredible and everything gets ridiculously chaotic at times

Yes, it’s almost too chaotic at times. I wish they’d slow down and let the stories breath sometimes.

The wall stuff is incredible though. So dark.

Episode 7 was brilliant!

 :(

It was so good. I hope they keep it going in season 2 or have a similar parallel storyline structure. It's such a good idea to have something like that to keep cutting back to, especially as they actually committed to some proper world-building and didn't just make it a post-apocalypse pastiche played for laughs.

I think they probably need to refine the aliens a bit, because at times it's just them shouting at each other which started to grate slightly. And I agree @Silent Runner they maybe need to dial the tempo of everything down a notch. But otherwise it was a really great first season.

Like all their stuff there's a million & one ideas flung at the screen, and unlike the latest season of Rick & Morty, this was a little more cohesive. Thats not to say it wasn't utterly insane. Just dialled back a notch. Then it got dark & violent very quickly and 'The Wall' and that entire sub-plot was pure genius!

Horses for courses I guess. Thought episode 7 was pretty average by their usual standard, and the flimsiest of season 4 so far.

Although,

Spoiler

9/11 and ‘the kiss’ were still gold

This latest show.. my god I was rolling about. That's the best bit of time travel television I've ever seen.

Spoiler

Jerry's contribution was phenomenal, I was roaring

Amazing. Jerry is hardly in it and then totally Jerry's the whole thing.

Why no shleemypants? The interdimensional floating time cop testicle must have been itching for a part with that many shifts through the infinite universe?

I enjoyed it but

I guessed the time travel “twist” almost immediately because it’s a riff on the same idea as one of my favourite short films.

Also, fucking Jerry

Thank goodness Season 4 is coming to Netflix on the 19th of June.

It’s been a terrific return to form after a difficult third album.

Speaking of music, I now have the Glory to Glorzo song playing in repeat in my head.

NEW EP. US BROADCAST 24/05/20

By the shows high standards this weeks felt like a dud.

Don’t follow your “dumb pitch” episode with a “what if Rick fucked a planet” episode unless you know where you’re going with it. And this ends up in a place where they’re trying to figure out why they bothered at all.
