I think he means the "Rick and Morty fans attacking female writers because they didn't like Pickle Rick".

yeah i guess there wasnt really any pay off or satisfaction,  just watching tonnes of rats getting brutally killed. go rick?

really didnt like season 3, honestly, thought S1 and 2 were okay, a bit more lighthearted and less mean spirited than this one. wonder what the obsession with gore is

The joke is he's transformed himself into a pickle with bio engineered rat limbs and is slaughtering an entire sewer population of rats in the goriest ways imaginable because he thinks he doesn't need therapy.

I still dont get it? I mean, I get that he wanted to turn into a pickle to avoid therapy, and he ended up killing rats. I mean, if the joke is "woah ricks a psycho, he DOES need therapy" we've known that from stage 1. Didn't cement any further feelings except this guys still an unlikeable dick, and confusion at why they often portray rick as heroic and right (killing nazis, his points always being proven etc), but then i cant really root for him just going postal on a buncha rats so eh. Not trying to be obtuse just dont get it.

It's more like "What's the dumbest thing you think Rick would do to avoid going to therapy?", and then to comically trump anything you could possibly think of yourself.

Also the rat tendon bio limbs thing is simultaneously one of the finest throw away SF concepts and goriest moments in a series that frequently revels in amazing throw away moments and over the top violence.

Yeah, if there's one thing that the series always hammers away at its that most people are fucking stupid. They dont like it being pointed out, they dont respect you for being 'right', and rick has learnt this a million times so he doesnt bother.

Also, classic antihero, he does the 'right' thing, usually, but not necessarily for the right reasons. As above, if he does something right to benefit others they're just gonna be dicks about it anyway, so.....

The therapy bit is notable because its a rare occasion where someone outsmarts him with the intent of helping him, and he behaves as anyone else normally would to him....he gets all stubborn and pouty. He's just smart enough to realise he's doing it.

According to Dan Harmon there won't be a series 4 of Rick and Morty.

As I've read it, that's not quite what has been said.  It has yet to be renewed for a season 4, which by all accounts seems very odd but doesn't mean it wont happen.

A feature film makes more sense.

The ambition of the storylines would easily fill a movie runtime and be better for it. Plus it would do mad boxoffice and merch. It was inspired by a movie trilogy, it should become a movie trilogy.

Weird. You’d have thought it would have been renewed as soon as season 3 hit. So not renewed = not working on it?

Precisely. In response to a Tweet from one of the idiot fanboys denouncing him for doing something other than work on season 4:

This. There's a ridiculous amount material for a film.

I'm happy to see this die before the quality drops further if I'm honest.

I loved S1 & 2 but 3 just felt like the spark had well and truly gone.

Shouldn't you have posted this in the grand tour thread?
