I've got loads, been saving them up. :)

Best thing that's happened was getting the Atlas V3 pass last night. It was from a random Abandoned Building. Not even got the Atlas V2 pass yet, and I've never found the V3 in any of my save games.

I actually jumped out of my chair...

Some gameplay videos would be nice to watch, go create ....

I think that's being really optimistic. I don't think even the pro could do it.

Don't say that, I still hope it will happen.

Spoiler

I would also take Elite on PSVR

So seeing as this is peanuts to buy second hand I'm probably going to give it a try. As someone who completely missed the hype train around this, in fact I only knew of its existence after its release, would that benefit my enjoyment. Most peoples views seem to be based on not getting the game that was promised. So for someone who had no idea of said promises and no anticipation for vapour features would I like it. As a game is it fun. I can't sort the wheat from the chaff review wise as so many people are commenting on its negatives and false promises.

So at the end of the day is it a decent game for someone who missed the hype and disappointment?

Depends what you're looking for! In many traditional "gamey" respects it is lacking. In many other respects it is masterful. I find it relaxing and moreish, where other people find it infuriating and pointless.

If you like making up little adventures for yourself, and have a fondness for ambitious 8-bit games like Mercenary and Captain Blood you may find yourself pleasantly surprised. If you like fleshed out single player campaigns, you may find it rather meaningless. I play it for a few main reasons:

1) I find the repetitive busy work (crafting, mining, buying and selling etc) deeply relaxing, bordering on therapeutic

2) I like looking for unusual rock formations, lush grassy planets, and weird creatures, and taking screenshots

3) I like wallowing in the soundtrack and overall sci-fi book cover vibe

That's about the size of it. Although I will just add that the new Survival mode is a much greater challenge than Normal mode, and is much more rewarding as a result. Having to actually blow holes in the ground to shelter from storms you'd otherwise shrug off in Normal mode adds an extra layer of gameplay that wasn't there before.

I'm gonna get it. I knew I was already but well this is what forums are for really... I'm not sure about the timesink aspect as there's a lot on the go atm, unless it totally sucks me in and I'm a sucker for strange vibes and graphics etc. It's got to be worth a punt at the prices it's going for these days. Hopefully the dev hasn't washed it's hands of it and will put out some content/patches etc to buff it up a little. Hopefully.

It's only going to get better as a game IMO, but I loved it from Day 1. Before that even, as I had it pre-release. So although I'm looking forward to the buggies etc, the things I like about it haven't really changed.

In fact, some of the things I don't like about it will never be changed, I suspect. For example, every world with seas will have two types of small fish, and one large predator. Well, I say large, but they're all about the same size. I'd love to come across a genuine Leviathan, but I just don't think the engine could cope.

If support for this stops, can you still play it without an internet connection?. or rather if Hello Games killed their servers etc..

I doubt there's many servers running this. There's no multiplayer.

Was your Atlas Pass v3 from an abandoned facility or a manufacturing site? You said abandoned (which I took to mean the ones overrun with weird alien plants) but your picture looks like a manufacturing site.

I have amassed a personal fortune of 55 million credits or so, from spending a long time on my wintery base planet of Trebor - I have a sales terminal with great prices in my living quarters, an automated Emeril mine just outside the front door, and a large plantation of crops to harvest. I want to start hunting for my final ship soon, but can't leave Trebor until I've found all the species. It's the last slot that's left, which usually means cave dweller or aquatic life. The one right before it was a swimming creature, does that mean it's another aquatic one or should I be hunting in caves? I haven't found any cave creatures at all. There are no big expanses of water on Trebor, only shallow pools few and far between. I have only found the other swimming creatures once in hours of searching.

I haven't bought a freighter yet either, I can't find one I like the look of.

I'll certainly keep em coming, I just wish more of you would join me.

I may be about to snag the freighter type I was after. Only a couple of million credits short...

I just want to get my Crusader to level 70 (or finish Act V, I guess) in Diablo, first. Although that isn't happening if I can't fix this ejecting issue again.

Sorry, yes - it was clearly a Maufacturing Facility.

As for your final creature, it sounds like you've been cursed with looking for it on a "Puddle Planet". From the guides I've read online this means your final creature is almost certainly sea life, but because of the reduced amount of water the chances of it spawning are correspondingly reduced.

I usually move on from those planets, in terms of completing the life form scan.

This is the freighter I'm going to buy. I love the space battle stuff. It's so simplistic (especially since I maxed out my cannons)  but it looks great and it's in such short bursts that I always find it fun . Hard to believe that on release there was just a blue light your ship would bounce off, instead of the hangar we have now.

Now we're talking!

I'm not sure I've ever had a ship with all 4 Warp Drives. Still not got the blueprints for Tau or Theta, but for now I have a ship that has them pre-installed, which means I can access all types of stars. Who knows what I'll discover? Probably a bouncing pineapple, but you never know!

It helps that the new ship is quite cool looking:

I've maxed out the cannons as well, so it cuts down enemy ships in seconds.

Not a huge screenshot dump this time, but I do seem to be finding a lot of cool predators lately. This guy was my favourite:

But there was also this weird bird-like thing (shite pic sorry)

And these:

I've seen that creature type many times of course, but not that size!

And finally, adios to my crappy old ship:

Onwards to Blue Star systems!

Actually I found this ship. It's a grind, but you can always search for transmission towers to locate them.

Going from one thing to another with no clear goal can be fun, but I sometimes set myself little targets, such as getting the materials for a specific upgrade, or stock-piling Iron or whatever.

At the moment I'm saving up 15m to buy a freighter. In the meantime I've also got a longer term goal of planting more Mordite at my base, which which I can craft lubricant to sell for £££.
