Link goes between last station and base, not multiple stations - there is a spaceship for that.

But there's a problem with this.. Let's say you're in a distant system and go to your base world, and fly to another planet in your home system.  You decide to go to the local station instead of traveling all the way back to your base.  Now when you finally go to your base, you'll just be teleported to the local station instead of the distant one, and now you'll have to fly all the way back there.

Seems like we should be able to teleport to any system we've already visited, if we visited a station in those places.  When we teleport, a map should pop up showing the previous systems.  Shame.

I expect portal travel will be something they expand on in future updates - those big sundial structures are clearly portals of some kind...but then perhaps not since you walk through those rather than just pressing square in front of an image of one. Maybe you'll be able to build them for fast planetary traversal...all seems a bit pointless doesn't it?!

I imagine you teleport without your ship

Wow. Straight away this looks and feels much better. The running speed seems increased although that might be the new motion blur.

I'd last saved a few weeks ago upon arrival at a new system. Landed on a Paradise planet right away, and the view from space much more clearly resembled the terrain at ground level.

Loads more asteroids, and the cockpit glow is nice from the lasers.

I'm totally fucked now anyway, I have no way to recharge my suit, used up all the local thamium and am completely out of power. Gonna have to scrap it and start again I think.

Just science the shit out of it.

I'm more interested in the Freighters than the Base Building as that sounds closer in concept to what I really wanted from an update, which was to have a much larger Starship as a Mobile Home Base like a Mothership, that you could take with you on your journey across the Universe.

Not to say that that massive list of updates is unimpressive or unwelcome mind you.  The improved HUD for things like shielding & element scanning is already a great improvement, & having a place to rest my space boots may be just what I need so I can stick around some of the more interesting or valuable planets for a while.

Is Base Building only in certain modes? All I've done is load up my normal save and I can't see how to start a base.

You have to find one of those things that scans for planetary destinations, forgot what it's called.  But then you can search for a local base this way.

I followed the Atlas path though, and it's basically part of the tutorial.

But the people reacting aren't fans they are critics. Surely their whole job is to find the more interesting pieces of work and point us towards them?

My man, this is such an insightful and succint comment. Cutting right to the heart of it.

There are a lot of people here who have can't seem to see the distinction.

Just as conversation was starting to roll around to the actual gameplay for a change, we get posts about posts again.

I haven't played since I downloaded the patch, looking forward to getting serious about making money. Lack of storage space always put me off before.

Man, survival is pretty fucking tough. I managed to make it to my ship, but I have very little life support and there's not a lot of thamium around to top it up.

Losing everything you're holding when you die is suddenly a very big pain the arse. I've had to reload previous saves (you get three in the options) but you have to think about what you're doing so much more. Whether it'll have the longevity to keep me playing once I've gotten my ship up and running and have that safety blanket available to me I dunno, but for now it's an enjoyable challenge.
